Cannot select which contacts to sync on itunes

When I go to sync my iphone, I go to the info tab to sync contacts. The problem I am having is that when I select 'sync contacts with' the box next to it is blank and will not allow me to pick anything (Outlook, yahoo....)
Any ideas?

I am also having this problems. I do not want my contact list updated with everything that is in my address book on my computer. Please tell us how to bypass the contacts when syncing.

I just discovered that if any of the email accounts in "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" in settings has "Notes" turned on, it will not sync to Outlook on your computer. My notes were always syncing to my yahoo account instead of Outlook on my PC until I turned off "Notes". Voila!!!! I had to forward the notes from yahoo to my Outlook email, then forward and edit them to the Notes folder in Outlook. (If they have whitespace as the first character, they will not have a 'title' in the Notes folder of Outlook.
I've been fighting this for the last two years, until I turned off the "Notes" setting in my iphone.
Also make sure that your notes syncing option to Outlook is enabled within itunes.

Bakstory: Laptop crashed, got restored, but without contacts. Mistakenly thought I could upload them from my iPod. I hit sync. Big mistake. When I disconnected, I saw my iPod has the measley 4 contacts I DID have on my laptop after the crash, instead of the hundreds I had on the iPod just minutes before.
Note: There is nothing in the desktop Trashcan that says "contacts."
I also tried to post this question in the iTunes section, but for some reason I can't seem to post there.

(Man, everyone agrees this is a design flaw--in how you share info from iPod to CPU and can easily overwrite things you don't want to. They should fix that.)

Yes, you can do that.
On the computer that you only want to sync contacts & calendars to just unselect content like music, photos, apps, etc.
You can only sync content like music with one computer at a time, content like contacts with as many as you like.
Before you sync your contacts & calendar with the laptop, make sure you have one entry in address book & ical, select merge at the prompt, do not select replace.
Make sure you disable auto sync when a ipod/iphone is connected under preferences in itunes.

Google Contacts API 2.0: Add option to select which groups are synced

This has been a requested issue for quite some time now:
*1) Add an option to control what Google Contact groups are synced in ITunes*
Currently, if you sync to Google Contacts, iTunes will pull in EVERY contact from your Google Contact list. That includes those contacts filed under "Suggested Contacts", which lists contacts you email on a frequent basis. The workaround for this is to delete your Suggested contacts every time you sync your iPhone, or risk the issue of having hundreds of new junk contacts in your iPhone.
I understand that there was an issue in the Google API before, the issue being that there was no way to distinguish between which group the contacts were coming from. That issue is now gone, it was corrected in the update of the Google API to 2.0 on December 12th. Now, when syncing, the ability to distinguish which groups the contacts exist in is there. With Google's update, the iTunes implementation of syncing Google Contacts can allow the selection of only specific groups to sync.
As said before, this is basic functionality that has been requested by many for a long time (search Google if you don't believe me), and I hope and pray that the wonderful iTunes/iPhone gods will bestow upon us the ability to select Google Contact groups in the near future. Are there any plans to add this functionality? If so, when might we expect an update?

If you are sharing the same iCloud account any data you sync with the account (such as contacts) is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleting contacts) also takes place on the device(s) sharing the account. To fix this, you need to be on separate iCloud accounts.
One of you needs to migrate their iCloud data to a separate iCloud account/ID. In your situation, this might be able to do with his phone. To do this, go to Settings>iCloud on his phone, tap Delete Account, choose Keep on My iPhone when prompted. Then sign back in with a separate ID and choose Merge to upload the data to the new account.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can sign into each account separately on icloud.com and delete the other person's data from each account.
To get the contacts on you iPad into your husband's iPhone and iCloud account, make sure his phone has Contacts turned to On in Settings>iCloud. Download the app My Contacts Backup on your iPad and use this to back up your contacts as an attachment to an email. Send this email to your husband. Have him open it on his phone and tap the attachment to import the contacts to his phone, and to his iCloud account.

I cannot get my Contacts to sync to my iMac

I have a new (to me) iMac that I loaded my iTunes and photos from an external hard drive (from my old laptop.) I am having several syncing problems. 1) I could not find an option of saving a Draft Message
2) After multiple recipients(I have selected 12 recipients) in "TO" section, if I type a word in "TO" such as "Pre", it shows me all the contacts containing "Pre" but I cannot select the last contact incase there are more than 20 contacts coz I am unable to scroll down till the end.. If I do so.. I cannot select coz screen scrolls up automatically..

Cannot select Airport Express as speaker from iTunes

I have installed iTunes 7.6.2.9 on a MS Windows Vista Home Premium, and I get the speaker selector in the lower right corner as I´m used to, since I have an Airport Express connected to my stereo. I can also click the name of the AE, but the selection stays at "This computer".
The settings in the AE does not give me a clue as to what is wrong. Can anyone here help? Thanks in advance.

Found the problem myself: the parental control settings in MS Windows Vista, which I had turned on for the sake of logging activity on my non-privileged user account. I had set the settings for this account so that nothing was restricted - it was just the logging that was done. Nevertheless, this was what gave me the problem with external speaker, and also with iTunes Store generally dying on me - or at least responding sloooooooooowly.

I recently moved from Android to Iphone 4, i have my contacts sycned with my gmail account from my android phone, when i try to sync, i can only see Mail, caledner and Notes in the Account options, I cannot see Contacts.
How can i bring it to the Gmail account sync?
is there anyother way to sync contacts?

Set up your Gmail account as an Exchange account. This allows for full contact and calendar sync. Instructions can be found in the Gmail help pages on line.

Cannot select Outlook 2003 to sync calendar, tasks etc. ver 6.0

I have desktop software 6.0 install on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop. I installed ver 6.0 desktop manager, connected my Curve 8530, it recognized it and synced my media.
I have office 2003 and outlook installed, and it is running fine.
When I try to select organizer data to syncronize, and configure settings, I select calendar, proceed through the wizard selecting outlook, but when I finish the checkmark next to calendar disappears. Everytime I try to set the checkmark it takes me through the wizard and again removes the checkmark when done.
If I select yahoo, the wizard runs, and the checkmark stays.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I would recommend giving this a try, BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 displays calendar as not installed within Organizer.

Enable column browser from the View menu. In the Genres column of the browser, use CTRL-click (in the Mac I think that is Option-click but if it doesn't work, try CMD-click) to select the Genres you want. Also activate Shuffle (crossed arrows, or via the Controls menu). Start playing, and it will shuffle through the songs of the selected Genres.
