Cannot send emails after installing iOS 8.1.1

since I installed 8.1.1, I can no longer send emails. i keep getting the notice that my username or password is incorrect. It is not. I have done ALL the troubleshooting actions suggested to no avail.

Whether SSL should be on is determined by your email provider. When you added the account back, did it pass the verification? So this is happening on more than one device? Have you inquired with your email provider to ensure you have the correct settings? I know that it worked before you updated, but that can remove some settings from email accounts.

am not really sure what exactly fixed it.
I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.
outgoing server - p06-smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked - port now 587
on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

cannot send email from one account after update, states my password and/or user name incorrect. I have it written down,it's not incorrect.

After the iOS 7 update, in order to send email from my iPhone5 and my daughters (also from our iPads) I had do follow Apples reset instructions. Hold the HOME buttton and the START/AWAKE button until your device restarts and you see the Apple logo when your device restarts. You do not have to swipe the message bar which shows up sometimes as your iPhone is shutting down. Sadly to say, but on my daughters iPhone 5, I had to do this 5 times.
If you live near an Apple store, make them do it so that someone at Apple will send a fix for other people. I looked for a simple way to contact Apple and there is none. There is a series of prompts and links that are time consuming to be able to reach support about even a simple problem.

Mail 3.0 cannot send email after clean install

mail does not manage to send mail after leopard was installed via a clean install. It seems to work for upgraded machines, but unfortunately for me, I prefer the clean install.
The problem is, that the SMTP-server simply rejects sending attempts from mail. mail then simply says "cannot send message using the server ...". I got suspicious when I entered a wrong password as then mail says that authentication failed (so the communication has to work somehow).
So I worked on getting the server logs and they say the following:
+Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<Core>+
Seems like my computer send only the computers name as hostname and not the .local part any more. Systems which have been upgraded instead of a clean install do it "right" meaning they send hostname.local instead of just hostname which gets accepted by the smtp-server.
So the question is, where is the problem here? I do not really know what would be the right behavior regrading the computers name and hostname but I realize that 10.5 differs here from 10.4 leading to the problem above. My workaround in the moment is using Thunderbird which is quite sad after buying and upgrading to the new system...

I am running into the same issue. My insightbb account wont send messages. My yahoo account on the other hand, works fine. Heck, Mail wont even let me setup the insightbb account. Sometimes i can, but it rejects my username. I have to use thunderbird to send email from my insightbb account

Cannot Send Email Through Hotmail iOS 5 iPhone 4

I just got a new iPhone 4 with iOS 5. I've previously had a 3G and I own an iPad. Both of which I've activated and sync'd my hotmail account to. The issue I"m having is that I can receive emails on my phone from my Hotmail account however, when I go to send an email or reply/forward and email from my hotmail account on my phone I get an error that says " Cannot Send Mail No password provided for SMTP:[email protected]@smtp.live.com. Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter a password."
I do have my password saved hence I can receive new emails, however there is no section that allows you to input a password for the outgoing mail server smtp.live.com. It only allows you to select the type of authentication to use. Password is default.

Sorry to duplicate, but the reply I got to my first question didn't help, and there didn't seem to be any follow up. So I am trying to be more specific. I can receive but not send emails. I have read the page of suggested Mozilla solutions (Cannot send messages), tried them all, to no avail. I have contacted Network Solutions. Everything checks out their end. Disabling my anti-virus software does not help. I can send messages from a cell phone. As an experiment, I downloaded Opera, and tried it. I can send messages from Opera. But I don't want to use Opera. I want to use Thunderbird. The exact error message I get when trying to send is... "The message could not be sent using SMTP server XXXXX for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator." I'd be very grateful for help with this.

Cannot send emails after a few minutes.

I have 2 linksys routers. The wireless 45 just bought yesterday to try.
Same problem.
Plug di into the cable modem? Here I sit typing this with no problems sending email at all.
I have tried all the suugestions and nothing works.
I restart everything and then do a reinstall and it works for a few minutes then gone.
Error message claims problem with server and a "too many connections error."
Any ideas? MtU, to triggering ports. Did it all.

I have tried everything even going to the extent of deleting my email accounts and trying to add them back but guess what???? now it won't let me add them back.

I Had this same problem but just found a fix.
1)turn off Touch ID for App Store purchases
2)turn your phone or tablet off and then power it back on
3)go into settings iTunes & App Store and then password settings and make sure you have a purchasing time option selected
4)turn on Touch ID
Touch ID should now work for App Store purchases.

IMessage won't send pictures after installing iOS 6

Why can I send iMessage pictures from my iPhone 4S (iOS 6) elswhere, but not on my home network? Another iPhone 4s (iOS 5.1.1) in the same room can send them just fine. From Messages on the Mac to my iPhone Number with a .psd 90.5Mb file (pic)
The Pic moves into the Chat part but says nothing.
The File Transfers Window does say "Sent Zero ..."
It does not indicate progress but then it says Sent and the Chat window Displays "Delivered."

They eventualy arrived.
The Time Difference between the Send time in Messages and the Arrive time on the phone says only two minutes but it felt much longer.
It was most of the time I was typiing this.

Hi All,my Ipad Mini after upgraded from iOS 8 to iOS 8.1.2 couldn't start up,it only show the Apple logo and goes off after!

Try to reset the device:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
Be aware that in some cases, the device may enter recovery mode after a glitched update (if that's what happened).
