Cannot send iMessages to one of my contacts

I have a new iPhone 5s.  iMessages work with all of my other iPhone contacts, but one.  It worked with him intermittently and now has stopped completely.   For a few days the only thing I could do was send him Texts (which came up in green on my screen), but he never received them.  And when I 'push' the iMessages out as a text, he never get them.  When I try to send this one contact an iMessage, it immediately comes up with "not delivered" with a '!' symbol.   I re-try several times but it doesn't work.  I have shut messages off and on several time, shut my phone off and restarted it, deleted him from my contact list and added back.  Nothing seems to work.  He cannot send me anything either.  He has an older iPhone, without the upgrade (I think) and he says I have a green dot, not a blue one.  I don't know the old operating system, so I don't know what he has on his screen.   Please, please help.  It is important that I have easy messaging capability with this contact.  Sorry to be so long...  but the AT&T store people were not able to help me.  Very frustrating!

It may be an issue at Apple's end. Check the link below.

  • Can't send iMessage to one of my contacts!

I suddenly cannot send iMessage to one of my contacts, but i 100% sure that person phone is turned on, imessage is work and did not block me. As that person can send me iMessage. And i have already tried all the steps to solve it, such as
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
but all did not work. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey newgen5015,
I understand that your iMessage seems to work normally with everyone except your father. To troubleshoot the issue, I would follow these steps on both of the devices:
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2755
Do one step on both devices, then test, and if it doesn't work move to the next step and repeat. If you run through all of them on both devices, it should resolve the issue.

  • Contacts are red, cannot send iMessages

I am unable to send iMessages on a new iPad, contacts are coming up red even though they are indeed registered iMessage accounts (which I have been messaging successfully from an iPod for a long time), I have logged into iMessage properly and haven't changed my Apple ID. My WiFi is working correctly. I am baffled. Have read through the forum and answers are always "...iPads cannot send SMS message to any other device without an Apple ID" but again, the contacts are definitely registered. Please help. Thank you.

Problem solved! When setting up the new iPad, I used the family Apple ID that we have for iTunes/App Store rather than the Apple ID I use as my contact address - thankfully didn't have much loaded on the iPad, so I just erased all content & settings, restored to factory settings, and re-setup the iPad using the contact ID, set up iMessage / Facetime, and then added the iTunes/App Store ID after the fact. Everything works now. (note if anyone else needs to do this, backup your info first or it will be gone - I didn't back up as there was nothing worth losing on the device). Thank you tech support!

  • IMessage Problem: cannot send iMessage to a specific contact!

    So here is the problem:
It's about 24 hours I cannot send iMessage to a specific contact only! Both of us have access to the internet and both of us can send iMessages to other contacts.
We have tried rebooting the phone, and turning iMessage on and off.
If it matters, we both live in Sweden and use different MNOs but still we are both on Wifi and cannot send and receive iMessages.
Could anyone give me and idea of what to do?!
Oh..and Apple...your iMessage is reaaaaaaally bougus.. do something about this pile of crap.

I had this problem with my sister living in Austria and I am in the States and at first I wondered if it was some international problem.
Are you sure you both have your apple ID's programmed into your contacts? For some reason it wasn't registering my sister's phone number as an iPhone but when I added her apple ID e-mail, it sends fine. I just have to iMessage her to THAT particular e-mail. That's the only way I was able to sort this same problem. iMessaging her to that e-mail works just fine.
I've iMessaged people in the states before just using their phone number only and not having their apple ID e-mail but with messaging to my sister in Austria, I have to use her e-mail. Wondering if anyone else has this issue with international iMessaging? I've iMessaged someone in Australia before with just their phone number and it worked fine so maybe it's completely random? I don't know. But definitely check and see if you have their apple ID in there in their contact information and try to iMessage them on that. See if it works! It did for me.

  • I can send messages to one of my contacts on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Why?

I can send messages to one of my contacts on my iPhone but not on my iPad. Why?

Does the contact you are sending the message to use an iPhone?
The iPhone will send and receive both iMessages and Text messages (SMS).
The iPad will only send and receive iMessages.
iPads cannot receive SMS text messages.

  • Can you send iMessages from one iPad to another? If so how can I do this? Thanks

I have just got a new iPad and I'm wondering if you can send iMessages from one iPad to another? We are currently trying this out and can only send iMessages from an iPad to an iPhone is this correct? Thanks

You can use the Messages app to send messages to any iOS device or to a Mac running Mountain Lion. So yes you can send a message to another iPad.
Both iPads have to have Messages set up and you need to contact the other iPad using an email addresses as the "you can be reached at" email address.
Do you have it set up correctly on both iPads?

  • Cannot send iMessage, but I receive them.

My friend switched from Android to iPhone 5s.  When he texts me, I receive it as an iMessage on my 5c, but when I respond, it is sent as an SMS.  How can I make my messages go through as iMessages?
I have already turned iMessage off and back on.
    I am using iOS 7.0.4
I can send iMessages to my other contacts who have iPhones.  It is just this one contact.

    Hi Snerts,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it sounds like you are not sending imessages to one contact. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
iOS: Troubleshooting Messages - Apple Support
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Mario

I can't send imessages to one contact which happens to be my boyfriend. on my iPhone 5 which had iOS 8 it was fine but now nothing. it was working fine for a bit but just stopped working an hour ago. I tried rebooting my phone, restarting the thread, restarting all the networks, sending as texts, literally everything and nothing works. please help me fix this, out of every contact it's my boyfriend who just lost his best friend and I can't even text him back. I'm so frustrated and can't make my way to an apple store for another 6 hours.

    Hi there katie22xo.
According to the article below, it looks like you may need delete the thread and create a new one.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.

  • TS2755 I am not able to send pictures to one of my contacts. I can for all others.

I am not able to send pictures to one of my contacts. I can for all others. Can someone explain why that could be happening?

Perhaps that recipient does not have MMS texting as part of their cell service.  They may only have SMS texting which does not support pictures.

  • My iphone 5 is not letting me send imessages to one contact

I have the ios 7 and it wont let me send a imessage to one person in my contact anymore. It was working fine then it turned into me sending a imessage and only receiving a text. and now it is only letting me send and recieve text messages. It would let me send imessages but said not delievered then I turned on the sms then it sent a text. Then I turned off the sms and now its not even letting me try the imessage. Its only sending texts. I asked if he was just playing a joke but he swears he's not. I tried turning off my phone, restarting my phone, erasing all his messages and contacts and restarting it and also trying to turn it off. I feel like I have tried everything and it still wont work. Help me out anyone!?

I can't give you a definitive answer, but I can think of several possibilities:
Your account is not provisioned for MMS by your carrier (assuming you are trying to send them via messaging and not email).
If you are trying to send them by email your email provider has a size limit on messages that is lower than the size of the pictures you are trying to send.
You haven't turned on MMS messaging in Settings/Messages
You don't have an Internet connection when trying to send pictures
You have turned off Cellular Data and don't have a WiFi connection when trying to send pictures

  • TS2755 I am frequently unable to send iMessages to one contact.

I am able to recieve iMessages from all my contacts whenever we are both connected to the Internet, but I am frequency unable to send any to one contact, I can recieve her iMessages, but always find it sends via text message seconds later. Has anyone else had this problem before? Do you know how to solve it?

SETTINGS - MESSAGES - SEND AS SMS - OFF
Now, your iMessages will not be converted to ordinary text messages whenever iMessage is not available for any reason.
