Cannot send mail on iphone 6
I cannot send email from my iphone 6. I get the error message "the recipient (my e-mail address) was rejected by the server
The account settings are the same as on my Imac and MBA which I can send messages.
I can receive messages
Primary server=on Port 25
Other smpt server=on Port 587
Imac other smpt server is port 587. I changed 25 to 587 but that didn't work and changed it back to 587
Any ideas?

I know of none, which changes nothing regarding the test I proposed.
It won't link with your Sky address. This is to test if you are able to create and access a different email account to determine if the problem is with your iPhone or with Sky.

I've read over your posts and see that you've both tried a few different troubleshooting steps with our support. The next step would be removing the whole email address from your iPhone and setting it back up. When you set up the email address, you should use the step by step walk through instructions available at http://help.godaddy.com/article/3423.
SizzyB, please note that cwmx.com is an AT&T specific server. Your UK provider might list a comparable SMTP server as a default or you might need to contact them to get their settings.
Joe, I would also like to note that you would specifically need to have our Unlimited email plan to utilize the IMAP service feature.
If either of you have further issues, please post the full details (including any errors messages you receive) and we'll continue to work on a solution. -

Cannot send mail from Iphone using Verizon e-mail
I just switched from Comcast to Verizon as my internet provider, and although I can receive my Verizon e-mail on my Iphone, I can not send e-mail. I get an error "can not send mail"
"The sender address was invalid". I have checked all the settings, and they are correct. I was able to send e-mail with the Comcast Iphone mail app, but I am unable to do so with Verizon. Can someone who is a Verizon customer and has an Iphone please shed some light on this issue?Verizon, like most ISPs, does not allow off-network use of it's SMTP servers (you would be able to send email when connected to your home Wi-Fi network, for example). When using 3G, you can use AT&T's SMTP server - go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > tap the account > SMTP > AT&T SMTP Server and toggle it to ON.

HT1430 I cannot send mail with iphone 5 when in LTE outside my home area?
I receive emails just fine, but will not send emails on LTE outside my home area. I checked the email settings and they are ok. It used to work fine with my old 4S.

I just traded my iphone 4s and got an iphone5.
I have my work email (exchange) and my gmail account set up on my phone. As soon as I updated to IOS 6, I started to have these problems:
When I send emails out, they get stuck in my outbox.
When sending picture msgs, they just stay in sending status.
A problem with Internet links not opening on safari.
I did everything that you can think of, restarted the phone, reset network settings, restored to factory settings and setup as NEW iphone, checked all email and exchange settings (all are correct) and they way they worked on my 4S, deleted my exchange profile on the work server.
I did all that you can think of and nothing was a permanent fix.
Apple Geniuses, please help us get this resolved. Other co-works are having the same problems.
I made an appointment to go to the apple stores, drove 30 min to get to the apple store, and they blamed it on the bad reception that only happens at their store....
He reset my phone, to reset the firm ware and the problem is still there....
I was told to call Sprint to see if there is a network issue, then I can go back to the Apple store..
I told the guy that I has Sprint before, I even had an Iphone 4s, and this never happened...
He said to check with Sprint....

I changed the password in my windows live e-mail account. My iphone now recieves but will no longer send e-mails. I have deleted the account from the iPhone - reinstalled it and verified the password is correct. I recieve a message that "Cannot Send Mail" "the user name or password ... is incorrect. Any advice ?

About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...

Why do I get the message "Cannot send mail, the user name and or password for my email outgoing server is incorrect"? I use the same account, etc. on my iPhone and haven't any trouble sending mail.
If your email requires a password for the SMTP server you can set it up in the settings in the General mail setup. Some i.e Gmail require a password for SMTP.
Otherwise you will probably get better answers in the iPad forum.

The user name and password are in two places. Make sure they are correct in both locations.
Settings>>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>your email>>
First spot is here under INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Below this is OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Select: SMTP smtp.comcast.net>> PRIMARY SERVER :smtp.comcast.net>>second location of user name and password
Here is the second place that the user name and password must be checked.
I had changed my password in the first spot, but not the second spot. I had been receiving the same error message. This fixed my problem. -

IPhone 3G Cannot Send Mail. The sender address was invalid.
All of a sudden, I cannot send mail. I get the message "Cannot Send Mail" The sender address was invalid.
I have reset the phone in hopes of resolving the problem. That did not work.
The mail that I'm sending to IS a valid address; I'm trying to RESPOND.
Please help.The configuration and use of any outgoing server address (SMTP) may not be supported due to several factors including, but not limited to, the inability for the outgoing server (SMTP) to authenticate users (whether by IP or username/password) that are not directly connected to that Internet Service Providers(ISPs) network.
This is usually your HOME wi-fi and you are not connected to it because you are on your iPhone away from the house. This is mainly done to prevent unsolicited users from sending SPAM via the ISP's servers.
An alternative is to use ATT SMTP Server (for US) when you are on the 3G or data network for the carrier and not on your home wi-fi. So enable ATT SMTP server under Other SMTP servers under your Mail's account settings on the iPhone.
If you are interested you can obtain that information directly from the email provider. This article has a great temple that you can use to ask all necessary information from the provider including "If you use your ISP’s own email service (instead of a third-party such as Gmail), sometimes it may not work if you use another Internet access point, such as a cafe with wireless Internet. Ask your email provider if the settings they give you will work on other networks."

Getting this message:
Cannot Send Mail - The connection to the outgoing server "mail.bellsouth.net" failed. I have spent hours reading various posts on this and still haven't found a solution that will make my phone work. I am so frustrated and have just been putting up with it. Not worth it at this point!

The e-mails just sit in my outbox and it shows a bar that says "sending" but it never goes through.

I could not get this to work on Edge. It would work if I was on wifi on my isp at home.
I found these setting and they work but you have to turn wifi off to send mail. Does anyone know of a way to send and recieve mail with a bellsouth.net account using both wifi and edge?

Choose Mail.
Choose Accounts > Add Account.
Choose Other.
Choose POP and enter the following:
Name: Enter what you want to appear in the From field in messages you send.
Address: [email protected]
Description: This will default to what you entered in the previous step. You can change this if desired.
Incoming Mail Server (POP3):
Host Name: mail.bellsouth.net
User Name: your_username
Password: Enter your e-mail password.
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):

Choose Save. The device will check the settings.

Deleted Messages: Choose the option best suited to your needs.

Outgoing Uses SSL: Set this to off.
Authentication: Choose Password.
Delete from Server: Choose the option best suited to your needs.
Go back to the previous page.
Turn account on at the top of the page.
Choose the Mail button at the top of the page.
Choose the Settings button at the top of the page.
Choose the main page button at the bottom of the device.
Choose the bellsouth.net mail account or Inbox if you only have one account set up.
The device will now automatically login and retrieve your e-mail. -
TS1307 cannot recognize mail password and will not send mail..iphone and web work mail no problem

Also recognize that Apple Mail tends to (also) toss out the same password error dialog for errors other than password errors. This means that network errors and network configuration can be reported as password errors. (And folks that receive the password errors can then reasonably try different passwords, which means that the wrong password can (also) then get recorded in Keychain.)
