Cannot send mail via my Hotmail
Just got a Macbook and can't send any messages either in Mail or Entourage. Can receive but it says there is a 'HTTP error. The request cannot be fulfilled.' I think the settings are correct interms of the SMTP etc etc but obviously not. Can anyone help.
I used to a use a plugin to get my hotmail. Check out the link below:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18189
Pay attention to the comments also there are some interesting notes.
I have since terminated my hotmail and changed to IMAP gmail which is something I would recommend. Hotmail has very limited features unless you pay. Most notably no forwarding or folder syncing.

Cannot send mail from my hotmail account on my iphone 4s
i bought a iphone 4s and set up my hotmail account through the Mail setting - Add accout - Hotmail. I have never been able to send mail through this set up. i have deleted the account and re-setup the account several times and had no success. I am able to recieve email but this is still useless if I cannot reply. Is there anyone else with this problem? can anyone help me?
I love this phone, but this is definately a major downfall and I am really %&#@...... unhappy.I was having trouble emailing from Gmail on my iPhone 5, because the server didn't allow relaying, as some folks in this thread described . Deleting and setting the account up again didn't help. Someone in this thread said to go to Settings, Gmail, Advanced, Server Port, and change it to 25. It worked like a charm. BUT- here's the weird part: when I went back to check the server port, it had changed itself back to the previous port # and it's still working fine. Go figure.

Cannot send mail via wi-fi at work
mail works perfectly at home (d-link wifi time-warner cable modem). at work, receives normally but will not allow me to send. administrator says it's my macbook pro to blame- nothing from their end to stop mail from sending. any ideas?
Actually, a lot of ISPs have for years and years only allowed use of their SMTP servers for mail originating from their own IP address pool. It really has nothing to do with spam - ISPs only want to pay for processing SMTP services from their own paying customers. So IPs outside of the ISPs domain(s) are automatically blocked. As I say, this has been common among many ISPs for a very long time.
Does the ISP use authenticated SMTP? If so, make sure you have your mail app set to use your userid and password when sending mail. Again, many ISPs will allow authenticated SMTP requests from any IP address (while when you are at home, it may not be necessary, as your IP address allows for unauthenticated SMTP access).
Alternatively, as suggested, just setup and use your employer's SMTP server when at work. -
Cannot send mails via IMAP but can receive mails
HI All
Having Exchange 2010 SP2 on standalone box on W2K8R2-std sp1
We enabled IMAP and POP3 for our user base who do not have Outlook or are facing issues with active sync.
mailbox gets configured however none of mails are sent via IMAP they remain stuck in user outbox only.
They can receive mails but can't send. we tried configuring same users on Outlook and activesync and it worked.
We were surprised with some mis-configuration at IMAP end but could't get to root of it. Any idea what could be an issue????
for imap testing we tried Zimbra 7.2.3 on windows 7 pro, Windows Mail app in windows 8.1. IMAP in windows phone 8
Have enabled IMAP and pop3 logging but couldn't interpret it.
Cheers VPHi vp89,
Based on my knowledge, POP3 and IMAP cannot be used to send messages.
E-mail applications that use POP3 and IMAP4 to send messages rely on the SMTP protocol to send messages.
The connector for receiving e-mail submissions from client applications that use POP3 or IMAP4 is created automatically on every Hub Transport server.
We need a Send Connector.
More details in the following articles:

Hope it is helpful

User in france cannot send mail
This is odd. An employee moving through France (we are in UK) cannot send mail via either of our servers. The can collect - no problems. If they come on via one of the VPN systems we have, they can send mail. There is nothing on the log files to suggest there are any problems - e.g. no reject, not even a connect message. They can send email via another service provider which 'suggests' the IP provider they are using is not blocking SMTP. Anyone any ideas?

Eh? Server? No. Look at the client itself. And at the mail client profiles that are set up to access the mail server. You have a known-working profile within a mail client for one mail server (not yours). And a non-working profile (for yours). Compare the two profiles.
There are a number of a ways a mail client can be configured (ports used for reading and sending mail, which protocols), and (barring cases of an unusually locked-down client) you can usually see the settings for the profile (if not the passwords) for the mail server(s) that the client knows about.
Some ISPs and some businesses can block outbound connections to port 25, for instance.
If you have a profile that works, see if cloning that approach on your own mail server works, or if switching the client over to that connection approach if that path is already enabled on your mail server. -

Hello lclaunch22
You may need to validate the account with Hotmail. When logged in to the Hotmail account on a computer, there are instructions on how to do this.

Well according to your logs an email message was delivered to the admin account.
hotmail did not get the mail.Log a support case (assuming you have a support contract). There is simply too many possible causes of your problem and the logs you provided contradict everything else you have said.

Cannot send mail through Hotmail on iPad
Cannot send mail through Hotmail on iPad, it's ok through bigpond though. I have tried deleting account and shutdowns x 2 but still nothing.
The message which appears is telling me the user name or password "SMTP: @[email protected]" is incorrect.
Thanks, RonYahoo's been having persistently random issues for months. You can try just waiting it out, or delete and readd your yahoo account. When my accounts were affected I just used webmail to access my yahoo accounts until it cleared up.
Chances are it's all on their end and really all you can do is wait it out. -
Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad
Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad
If you still have this concern: You can only use the alias address linked to the main iCloud account that you backup your iPad to. You can check that going to Setting-iCloud and check the Account email address.
I think this restriction is rather rediculous. I don't see why we can't configure an alias from a different iCloud account the same way we do for a Gmail account. I hope Apple fixes this in iOS 6. -
Hi,
Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0.3 on all our iPhone and iPad devices, it has been identified that when sending emails around 100KB in size and over an error message appears on the device stating “Cannot Send Mail The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.” See error message below. The send/receive limit is over 10MB so this is not the issue.
We are in an Exchange Environment using Microsoft Activesync. This issue is not evident in iOS 6. This has been tested on an iPhone 3GS running version iOS 6.1.3. We have been unable to repeat the issues seen on iOS 7 on the older OS. It is not possible to roll back to the older operating system as Apple are no longer signing the software.
We use Microsoft Active Sync to connect to our Exchange servers through a TMG. The issue is very inconsistent, some identical emails go through, some fail. This is not an issue with the send/receive limit as this is over 10MB. The error message when it fails on the TMG is Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large, which we believe is from IIS on the CAS server.
Does anyone have any suggest course of actions to take?
Many ThanksThis resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.

I have at&t internet and cannot send using my at&t email. I can send via gmail. Or if I go use someone elses internet, not being at&t, I can send. At&t said it is a mac issue. I told them it is their issue with macs since I can send using other providers.

I cannot share photos via my hotmail account but works with Gmail
Can anyone help?
I have been using my hotmail account to send/share photos on iPhoto. Recently I cannot share photos via my hotmail account but works with Gmail?
What do I need to do to get the hotmail account working again? In iphoto I select the photos to send, click on share and email. I setup the email in iphoto and iphoto sorted out all the pop3 & SMTP settings all i had to do was put my email & password in. Since its gone wrong I have got an ipad but no changes to my email settings.
I have been looking at the 'mail' which is also setup for hotmail and I can't send emails from there either so i don't think there is a problem with iphoto. -
We purchased a new iPad2 and registered it using a 'new' iCloud email/ID. We are unable to send email from the iPad and iPhone. The error is:>> Cannot send mail. The user name or password for iCloud is incorrect.
About ~20 hours later, this ended up solving itself. We can send email using the '.icloud' email from both the iPad and iPhone. Advise would be 'wait' before you start seeking alteranatives like yahoo, hotmail, etc. This definitely is a convenient way to keep all your 'cloud' information in a centralized place, including the common email...
