Cannot send mail with any type of attatchment

I use verizon DSL and while sending an email with an attatchment (of any size) the progress stalls at 10% and then will not send. I have spoken with Verizon and they have said that there is nothing they can do. Please help.
iMac 17" 800 mhz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Since re-creating Outbox seems to have made a difference, try the following variation of that procedure now:
1. In Mail, move to another mailbox any messages in the Outbox that you wish to preserve.
2. Quit Mail.
3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
4. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/, locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Trash.
6. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • Cannot send email with any of my accounts on Mail 5.2

I have a Mac Book Pro
    Mac Os X 10.7.4
    Mail 5.2
I have many diferent email accounts (gmail, hotmail, prodigy.net.mx, etc)
Some are POP, some are IMAP
I have another computer, an iMac with older system and older Mail app. and used same setup for all accounts
I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails on any of the accounts. I have quadruple checked all settings and all seems to be ok.
All smtp connections appear as not connected, yet different servers, or email suppliers, this makes me suspect something else is wrong.
Any ideas? Help would be appreciated.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app.  I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send.  I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success.  Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem.  As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work.  So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

  • Cannot send mail with mavericks

Hi I'm using an iMac 2011 27 in. Shawcable is my ISP. I can receive mail. I cannot send mail. I get the error "cannot connect to account myaccount, enter password for user myname" If I go into accounts in mail prefs all smtp accounts show as offline.  I have been over all my settings with shaw they say problem is on my end. They say my computer isn't connecting. Anyone have any ideas?

Without in details on what you have tried, I'll throw out some things:
On the SMTP server settings, use a custom port number instead of using the default ports.
Make sure you don't have any firewall, net-nanny, or other such network blockers running.
In Mail, Open Connection Doctor from the Window menu.
Click Show Detail, then Check Again.
Note any message noted in the stoplight section, and any related to the account in the details.
You may want to sanitize any of the messages from the Details so that it doesn't give away an email account or other identifying info.

  • Cannot send mail from any mail account

I have a Mac Mini, late 2014 model, running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2.   I have constant difficulty sending mail from any of my mail accounts; these are iCloud, Googlemail, Yahoo and a personal one which uses 123-reg.co.uk.  I am currently located in Greece, but have been having trouble for ages, even in the UK.  I can receive mail, but I don't seem able to send it.  Error message is usually simply cannot send mail using this server, select a different server.  However, when connection doctor is run, all servers appear to be connected and I am logged in.  Any ideas please?

Hi, not sure why that is relevant, but we arrived at the end of January this year.  Here is a screen shot of a recurring problem, although in this case Gmail is not connected to the internet, which it usually is.  Hope this helps.
Your outgoing Gmail servers not working, everything else seems OK.
So, what is not working for you (other than Gmail Sending)

  • Cannot send mail with mobile mail software

I have been trying to send mail with my mobile mail software on my AOL account and my mail won't got through,  But when I click on my mobile web and access my AOL email that way it allows me to send mail with no problem. The problem started today, I have an lg env3 and the latest software version of the mobile mail.

From working with other customers, the best thing to do would be to remove the email account entirely from the Mobile Email program and re-add it.  If the issue persists, remove the Mobile Email application altogether and redownload it.  If it still persists even after that and all other data services are working such as the browser, My Verizon, etc. call AOL Mobile Support at 866-265-3019.
I hope this helps you.  Let us know if it did.

  • Cannot send mail with attachments-plain mail its ok. Any ideas?

Out of the blue I cannot send e-mails with attachments (any kind). Mail without attachments go out without problems.
    Very weird.
I have an iMac, mac mail 5.2. and Lion.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Perhaps the mail server has a size limit that it allows. Might try a free web service and see if that will work for those attachments.

  • Cannot send mails with second Account

    Hi,
    I have 2 Mail-Accounts.
    Account_A(mobileme) and
    Account_B(exchange)
In the Account settings I have associated both Accounts to use there own SMTP. If I try now to send a mail with Account_B i directly become an error that the mail cannot be send over the server_B. If I hit "check connections" everything wents green, which implicates, that everything should be fine.
Now comes the funny part: In the same error Window there is a message: Send from: Account_A!
Any idea to get this working?
    Info:
Yes. The settings in "Compose message" are right
Yes. Both Accounts are setup correct and work fine with iPhone and iPad
    Thanks, Michael

What error message do you receive when try to send from Account_B?

  • Cannot send mail with .mac

I can receive mail with .mac account, but not send mail. I can send and receive mail using another account. Has something changed with .mac?

This issue is most probably related to your Internet Service Provider.
Several Internet Service Providers are blocking the use of smtp servers (like smtp.mac.com) by their customer for secury purpose allowing only their own smtp server.
First, you should check with your ISP if he his blocking smtp servers. If he do, just use the smtp server of your ISP. That's what I need to do from my home.

  • Receive mail but cannot send mail. Any ideas?

I have iPad2, email set up to receive and send mail. pop...for receive and smtp... for send. port 110. I can receive but not send. Can anyone help?

Check with your email service and find out which ports can be used with their SMTP and then try that port.

  • Cannot send mail with Outlook 2010

I can't send email with Outlook 2010. I can receive fine. I have a Verizon account, and my settings are those recommended. When I try to send email I eventually get a time out. I have called the Verizon techs any number of times and after working with them fruitlessly I was told to call Microsoft. Microsoft can't find the problem and said that it must be a problem that Verizon refuses to acknowledge.

I'm using MS Outlook 2010 in Win 8, Win 7, and XP.  I''m using the latest settings specified by Verizon.  Everything works perfectly, and has done so since since I made the changes a month or more ago.
Unless you post your specific settings, exactly as they are entered into your Outlook program, there is no way that any of the volunteers here can provide useful suggestions.

  • Geary cannot send mail with attachments

I've been using Geary, a mail client, and I've never been able to send any mail containing attachments. The same mail, meanwhile, gets through if I use Thunderbird. The exact messages which Geary posts if I run it through a terminal are:
** Message: smtp-client-session.vala:80: Unable to QUIT: Error writing data to TLS socket: The specified session has been invalidated for some reason.
** Message: smtp-client-session.vala:88: Unable to disconnect: Unable to shutdown socket: Transport endpoint is not connected
These two messages keep repeating. There is no problem with mails not containing attachments. Has anyone else had the same problem? Or is this a bug I should be reporting upstream?

Perhaps the mail server has a size limit that it allows. Might try a free web service and see if that will work for those attachments.

  • Cannot send mail with attachments after 3.0

Upgraded to 3.0 last night. At first I thought I couldn't send any mail at all, but after testing this some more I've found that I can send and receive email from my mobileme account, but if there is an attachment, (pic etc) mail hesitates then closes without sending anything.
My other email account has no problems at all with this. Just MobileMe.

I am also having this problem. Mine keeps saying that it can't connect to the SMTP server that I have turned off. I was told by Apple that I had to use the AT&T SMTP server which fixed my problem before. However, I downloaded 3.0 yesterday and now it refuses to even try the AT&T server even though it's the only one I have turned on. I can send text emails without any issue.

  • Cannot send mail with templates

    Hi all
    well...
when I try to send a mail including stationery, the send button is grayed out...
Mail is working correctly with ordinary mail
    Any suggestion?
    thank's to all

    Hi Ernie

well, after some tries, ordinary mail doens't work, too... (i mean that i had the send button grayed as like as the stationery ones)
this morning, during my lunch time -how said lots of time here around- i tried this: delete a mailbox and reconfiguring...
really i couldn't try due to firewall (at work place) but the send button was ok and the mail was in the outgoing box... this evening I'll have the answer, at home.
    I'll let you know
    thank you

  • Cannot send mail with photo attachment

I took a photo with the iphone camera and tried to send to someone with email. The email does not appear in drafts and there is not an outbox. The iphone says sending message 1 but is not sending. How can I delete the email and how is this happening?

There could be an error in the mail app contacting your outgoing SMTP. You can force close the mail app, hold the power button down until you see the slider bar, then press the home button, until you return to the home screen. I've read where people are then putting the iPhone in airplane mode, entering the mail application and you should find the offending mail. You can delete it then.
Another option I've used when I've had a problem is to reboot the phone, Home and power button until you see the Apple logo. Once the iPhone reboots, enter the mail app and the mail usually will send. You shouldn't need to worry about the photo, since it is in the camera roll.
