Cannot send or receive mail after installing iOS6 on iPhone4

Cannot send or receive mail after installing iOS6 on iPhone4.
All email accounts are still fine and not lost but ever since I installed iOS6 I cannot send any new email and I am not receiving either. That includes my Exchange, Yahoo  and Hotmail. I didn't loose any old email in my Inboxes.
Can someone help please. thanks.

I am having a similar problem.  I have iPhone 4 with the updated iOS6 and a Hotmail account.  Mail had been working after the update, but I noticed that wasn't really pushing my mail like it used to before the update.  I wouldn't get notifications after the update and when I open the Mail app, it would take much longer to download emails.  I decided to remove my Hotmail account and then re-add the account to the phone to see if that would fix the problem.  No such luck.  Now I have zero emails in my inbox on my phone when there is new email sitting in my Hotmail inbox on my laptop.  I've tried to delete and add the account multiple times now while rebooting the device and nothing changes...I've looked into other fixes mentioned here that say to change the settings on cellular date, airplane mode, push vs fetch, etc. and nothing is working.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Eudora 5.1 Cannot send or receive mail even after "correct" settings entered

I recently joined Fios after the reps assured me I could use Eudora with Verizon as I had with Comcast. It'd be tough to switch programs at this point since I have 15+ years worth of emails, folders, etc.---------------------  I changed the settings to the ones all shown all over this forum & the internet, but still cannot send or receive. I get an SSL Negotiation error immediately upon hitting the send or check email button. Below are pics of all my settings, along with the error message. Any help would be great. thanx alot.

This is for an updated version of Eudora (7.1), but you may find it helpful:http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/problems-sending-email-what-authentication-is-needed/m-p/634259#M14630 Everything else I could find with a quick search suggested you have to update Eudora to resolve this issue.

  • Since upgrade from 4S to OS7 and Macmail cannot send or receive mail

2 weeks ago I upgraded to OS7 as suggested by the community. After upgrade, my Outlook Express had changed to MacMail.  Since then I cannot send or receive.

Yes, you can't send or receive email without port 25 being open.  You could try a service like this to get around that:

  • I cannot send or receive mail

For about a month, I was unable to send but could receive mail. Now I am unable to send or receive mail. I also have to force quit mail quite often. I called our internet carrier and made sure our settings were accurate, but I'm still having problems. Any suggestionsz?

Well, installing the Coupon Printer would have no effect on this, so that's not the problem. It could be that your Mail preferences are corrupt, so you should test that like this:
    1. Write down all you Mail preferences for all accounts, including your usernames and passwords.
    2. Quit Mail.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Preferences and remove the com.apple.mail.plist file to the Desktop.
    4. Restart Mail, enter all your account information again and test to see if the problem is still there. If it goes away, that was the problem, and you can then delete the preferences file on your Desktop.
    Post back with results.

  • Cannot send or receive mail but connected to the Internet

I am in a public place using their community wi-fi but cannot send or receive email even though I am connected to the Internet.  I tried using the "Connection Doctor", but that did not help.  Thank you!

Some Wi-Fi hotspots, especially free ones, block all ports except those used for web browsing. If that's the case, you should be able to check your mail in a web browser, if the account has a web interface.

  • Cannot send email from mail after moving to iCloud

I have just moved to iCloud and now I cannot send email but can still receive email

    Hi Judy,
    Problem solved.
Go into Mail/Acounts and delete you iCloud account.
Now add a new account and type in your details for MobileMe/iCloud.
It should now work. O noticed the default server name is different.
    Hope this helps.
    Yours,
    Charlie

  • The "Get Messages" button is grey, cannot send or receive. New install, import from Outlook 2007.

    Brand new download install.
Tried importing Outlook data during install and later (after uninstall and reinstall)
No option to receive mail showing anywhere, and shift-f5 does nothing.
It will read imported mail, but not reply

Your MacBook shoul NOT be too old to run Leopard. (10.5) Snow Leopard, maybe, but not Leopard.
When you go to the Genius Bar, MAKE SURE the genius knows you are NOT up to date with your  OS. If they try to update your phone, you could find yourself unable to sync at all...
That said, if you're nice to them, they might just give you a copy of Leopard so you can get current with iTunes and iOS. It's been known to happen.

  • Suddenly cannot send or receive mail

mail was working fine earlier in the day. updated to 10.4.10 the day prior. I had changed nothing with the mail preferences. but i am wondering if the problem has something to do with the update. I use cable internet that does not support mac mail!
    g3 pismo powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

It shouldn’t matter whether your ISP supports Macs or not. They should still be able to tell you what the right account settings are supposed to be, or whether they’ve made any changes that would explain why Mail suddenly cannot connect to the mail server now...
Open /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access, choose Keychain First Aid from the application menu, and proceed to repair the keychain. If that doesn’t work, you may try removing the password entry from the keychain and letting Mail create it again the next time it asks for it.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible (i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.), or shutting down both the computer and the router/modem used to connect to Internet, restarting, and see whether that makes a difference.

  • Cannot send or receive email after 7.1 os upgrade

I upgraded to the latest 7.1 os to find that my smtp is no longer working.  I cannot receive any e-mails any longer.  Does anyone have a fix for this?  I only did it today since the upgrade is new.  I use optimum for email.  Very frustrating as this was working fine before. I already did a factory reset, deleted and put in new account information and still does not work.  Thanks

keep plugging at it.  ios 7 works fine.  You just have not got the set up quite right.
you are right to delete and re-enter the account.
google 'optimum email set up', and make sure you have the right servers names, both incoming and out going, as well as the server port eyc.  try their help page for any special tricks.
if they have changed anything since you first signed up, they may have moved you automatically, but a new machine trying to log on would need whatever the current stuff is.
