Cannot send or recieve texts

Hello, I recently added a couple of people to my unlimited talk and text account. We had devices already and yesterday they were activated.  They cannot send or recieve texts.. the phones have been powered down mulitiple times (one is an android  (samsung Galixy S and teh other is a samsung SCH-U300 I believe)
anyone esle run into this.
Teh plan that these folks had prior to being added to mine did not include text messaging (yes, it was old)

    I can understand the concern for the issues your lines are having with text messaging tonys555. SuzyQ is correct. If porting was a factor it can affect the functionality of the phones until the port is completed. Its important to ensure both phones are off an only your verizon phone is on while the port is being completed. If you continue to have issues please contact us so we can trouble-shoot your issue.

    Yes my particular issue is not like yours. However, there have been many other laptop users experiencing similar problem to yours after 3.10 kernel. Mostly it seems to be bumblebee users that experience your problem with the blank screen. We do know that nvidia have yet to make their official drivers work with kernel 3.10 and up. The drivers in the Arch repository have been patched to work with 3.10. From what I have seen, this also only seem to be affecting laptops with newer nvidia gpu's. I fear there is not much to do with this problem until nvidia give official 3.10 kernel support.
    My suggestion would be to stick with 3.9.9 kernel and the drivers that work with it, and don't upgrade those packages until nvidia has addressed these issues. If you have a look at the nvidia forums you will see quite a number of topics mentioning black screen when starting x on 3.10 kernel, and also a thread for the system dying. Reading some of the threads there may help you keep up to date on whether or not the issue seem to be solved.

  • I cannot send and recieve text messages to a straight talk phone

    When i  send a text message to a phone on straight talk, i get the error that "it is not registered with iMessage". I can communicate with this phone with my iPhone with no problem. how do i register? and why? My iPad is only using Wifi and has no cellular service, but communicates great with an iphone.

    The iPad doesn't do SMS text messges which are necessary to send messges to a regular phone.

    iOS 5 handles texts differently than previous versions.  Resetting the network connections helps, but that didn't seem to solve your problem, and neitherdid the simple reset. 
    Try deleting old messages from the messages app, then after clearing up a lot, just do a simple restart of your phone.  If you want to be extra sure, try resetting your network connections again.  I had this same problem.  Your last option would be a complete restore of the phone, but I don't think we'll have to go that far.

    Each of you needs a unique Apple ID for messaging, Facetime & iCloud.
    Go to appleid.apple.com to create new Apple IDs.

    Tap your AppleID, sign out then sign back in with new AppleID.
    Settings > Facetime.
    Tap your AppleID, sign out then sign back in with new AppleID.
    Settings > Messages.
    Turn off iMessages then turn it back on with new AppleID.
    Settings > iCloud.
    Delete the account then turn it back on with new AppleID.

    it's a software issue... a lot of customers are having all kinds of issues with their new iPhone 4. But, don't be dismayed, there may be a way to fix it.
    some ideas is trying going to settings -> general -> rest -> then tap on "Rest Network Settings". This will then rest all the of network settings, and hopefully fix transmitting and recieving issues that you may have with your iPhone.

I have synced my phone with itunes, backed up, reboots after deleting the texts, they never vanish, i have even restored from itunes and restored from a backup that didn't include the texts after i deleted them.

    actually better to reset your phone and reinstall the latest firmware again after that restore your back up it should be ok

  • Since updating to iOS 6 I no longer can hear the send and recieve text sounds when texting

    Updated to IOS 6 yesterday and now I am having trouble hearing the text "swoosh" or whatever it is called while in a converstation the sound you hear when you send one or recieve one. Also when my phone is switched to vibrate mode when I receive a text message all my phone does is light up and it dosn't not vibrate which stinks cuz if it is my pocket I don't know if I'm getting a text message. I went into the message settings to try and set a vibrate tone for when recieveing a text and It won't even vibrate when I click on an option or click to create my own vibration pattern. My phone still however vibrates when I recieve an email or when someone calls me ect.... just not on texts and no sound when in a text conversation as in sent and recieved sounds. My sister, and both my parents updated to IOS 6 yesterday and they are having not probems of any sort? Anyone else have this problem and know of a solution? Ive already tried resetting my phone thinking maybe it was a glitch but still have the same problems.

    I figured out my problem...... I have custom text tones set up for certain ppl and had the default text tone set to "none" well with the iOS6 update it made it so if your default text tone is set on "none" then you won't hear what I call the send and recieve text sounds when in a converstation... if you change the default text tone to any text tone other than "none" you will get your send and recieve sounds back.... kinda annoying if you don't won't random texts from ppl waking you up... so I made a custon text tone that is called silence with just recording a few seconds of dead noise then edited it and turned all the sound levels down to 0 and set that as my default text tone.... now I have the send and recieve text sounds in a conversation and everything is fine! Sorry Nehucskter the first time I had this problem thats the first thing I did was reboot my phone.... first thing you do for everything lol....

    Is your Orange phone still working? The EE phone will have a temporary number until yours transfers over.
    When this has transfered you will need to do the below:
    Update your number
    Go to Settings > Phone > My Number.
    Replace the temporary number you find there with your own number - use +44 instead of the first 0.
    Then tap Save.
    Reset iMessage settings
    Your iMessage settings won't reset themselves during porting - the temporary number will still be in your new iPhone.
    To input your old number into your new iPhone:
    Go to Settings
    Tap on Messages
    Tap iMessage ON
    Scroll down to Send & Receive number
    Replace the temporary number with your old number
    Then tap Save.
    That's it, you're all ready for action. with your number.

    Has anyone else received this message?  I cannot send or receive text messages!  Help!

    Here's what I figured out.  My last iTunes backup was in some way corrupted.  I had my carrier back up my contacts on an additional SIM card.  I then reset up phone to factory setting with the original sim card in the phone.  Once rest, I took out the sim card and replaced with my contacts sim card and imported contacts.  Once uploaded, I then switched back to the original sim card.  From there I plugged into iTunes and treated my phone as a new phone. I was then able to add in all my apps, music, etc.  Lost all my settings, but I can now text without any issues.
