Cannot send password with UTTSC

I am having trouble sending a username and password via the SRWC to a VMware View desktop when using the SunRay View Connector on SRSS 4.1 (and 4.2).
Whenever I try to send a username and password with the following parameters with SRVC:
-s 10.101.15.240 -d STU -http -- -u student -p northwestern -m -b -r disk:USBDRVS=$HOME/USBDRVS
I receive the following error:
[ID 702911 user.error] /opt/SUNWuttsc/bin/uttsc exited with error code 1 - exiting
with all of the command line options displayed before it.
When I remove the -u and -p, everything works fine, but I cannot send the username and password that I need to. According to the MAN page, I am using the correct syntax for sending a username and password, but it still will not work no matter what I do. Any thoughts?

The issue here is that VDM uses one-time login credentials which are passed to the VM. These are set-up on the back-end then communicated to the VDM-tools within the Vm, and to the VMD client on the front end.
In the case of the Sun Ray VDM client, after identifying the Vm and being told the one-time credentials, it invokes the /etc/opt/SUNWkio/sessions/uttsc/uttsc script. It invokes this script and passes the appropriate -u and -p options. It also passes any options given to it from the "Arguments" field in the GUI.
I believe that what's happening to get your exit code 1 is that the uttsc script is getting passed two sets of these options; the ones that you put in and the ones that the VDM clients derives.
You can try a couple of things... The first is to disable the Single Sign On behavior of View. This will require users to auth against the GINA on the host. This will also let uttsc pass the credentials on the Arguments Field. To do this you must edit the GPO for the Vie Agent. Details can be found in the View admin guide.
Alternatively, you could try editing the uttsc script above to ignore some of the invocation switches and use the -u and -p that you intend

Hi, When I set up any aol account in mail, and click create, it always comes up with cannot send password securely to the server. This problem happened right after updating to snow leopard. Any one else have the same problem? Any solutions? Thanks.

For years and years most email servers accepted connections that were insecure, meaning that passwords were transmitted in plain text, and the email messages came back as plain text as well.
Now many servers encourage the use of SSL connections, which encrypts the data in both directions. Mail is trying to warn you that the SSL connection cannot be established, and therefore your data could be intercepted in transmission.
AOL's website (http://about.aol.com/faq/openmailaccess) states that they do not support SSL connections, therefore your only method of accessing your email is to use an unsecure connection.
Alternatively you could go to AOL.com (not use Mail.app) and read your email here as this will establish a secure HTTPS connection.
The best solution though is to stop using AOL and get either a MobileMe or a gmail account.

Thanks. I got the problem fixed. Spent time with the Apple folks and was kicked up to a senior advisor. It seems the problem was with my internet provider - Tmie Warner. Remember I could use the old ipad and the iphone to send mail. I checked all the specifics between the three units. It seems that TW is changing over from the RR.com to TWC.com. Since the new ipad air was just set up, it fell under the new TWC mail specifics.

First check to make sure you have data turned on and not just Wi-Fi. From reading your question you seem to be saying e mail is working just not attached photos. What size are the photos as some HD photos can't be sent. Your camera may be set at a very high picture size and you can go to settings and lower the size and that may solve your mailing problem.

* Open a new Write message
* click in the compose area
* click on 'Attach' > 'File'
* Locate file and click on Open
then what happens? does it show as an attachment in the top right of email?
Can you see 'Attach' in the toolbar or is the toolbar missing?

Up until today my MAIL app in my iMac let me use an email address that is from the AOL.com group (netscape.net)…I cannot send emails now because I can't get the computer to connect to the server. My iPad will….but not the desktop. I tried using a different server name; smtp.nestcape.net, which is the one I used in the iPad…but the iMac won't let me change it to that one..so back to the old smtp.aol.com……Still my MAIL app is not recognizing this or letting me connect!?!. I tried creating a new password at the wedpage of that email account.. successfully..but it has made no difference. I am stumped and have wasted half the day trying to deal with this. Anyone else have such an experience? HELP…PLEASE!

Fortunately after I wrote this post…I don't know what happened but I filled in my mail preference settings for the umteenth time with my new email password and voila! It worked. For some reason however…now when I open the Mail App I do still get a prompt asking me if I want to use this server….and it is, of course, the one and only I have listed.!?!?! The thing that irritates me…is…that I had done NOTHING to cause a problem to begin with. I think my email account at aol (nestcape) may have been hacked and my password stolen or compromised in some way??...and perhaps that caused a glitch in my mail app??? I am no techy, but I should have started out with my intuition and changed the password first before going mental….When something like this happens it makes one feel so vulnerable.…I usually feel well secured with my lone iMac and now my new iPad…ANYWAY…thank tyou for addressing my issue and I have bookmarked those links…for future reference which I hope I never need. Hey..is that your kitty??? She is beeeooootiful!

Cannot send mail with mavericks

Hi I'm using an iMac 2011 27 in. Shawcable is my ISP. I can receive mail. I cannot send mail. I get the error "cannot connect to account myaccount, enter password for user myname" If I go into accounts in mail prefs all smtp accounts show as offline. I have been over all my settings with shaw they say problem is on my end. They say my computer isn't connecting. Anyone have any ideas?

Without in details on what you have tried, I'll throw out some things:
On the SMTP server settings, use a custom port number instead of using the default ports.
Make sure you don't have any firewall, net-nanny, or other such network blockers running.
In Mail, Open Connection Doctor from the Window menu.
Click Show Detail, then Check Again.
Note any message noted in the stoplight section, and any related to the account in the details.
You may want to sanitize any of the messages from the Details so that it doesn't give away an email account or other identifying info.

Setting up mail. cannot send password securely

when i go to set up my mail with my aol account i get a message saying mail cannot send my password securely to the server. this is on the first welcome screen where you enter your name email and password.....it does give me the option to do it manually but if i do that i cannot send any email but i receive email. i checked the incoming and outgoing settings and there right..... what does this mean is there anyway to get past this

I've never seen this particular warning, but it's important to note that passwords for e-mail are always sent insecurely unless you are able to connect via SSL. You can set Mail to connect via SSL in the advanced account settings, assuming that your mail provider (AOL) allows such a thing, which some do not. Even if the password is sent encrypted, the rest of the e-mail is not, so you should never send any confidential information via e-mail, any more than you'd put it on a postcard.

Mail 5.2
I have many diferent email accounts (gmail, hotmail, prodigy.net.mx, etc)
Some are POP, some are IMAP
I have another computer, an iMac with older system and older Mail app. and used same setup for all accounts
I can receive emails, but I cannot send emails on any of the accounts. I have quadruple checked all settings and all seems to be ok.
All smtp connections appear as not connected, yet different servers, or email suppliers, this makes me suspect something else is wrong.
Any ideas? Help would be appreciated.

I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success. Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem. As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work. So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

Do you have a wi-fi network at home with Comcast as your internet service provider there?
If so, any problems sending with the account when connected to your wi-fi network at home, is is this a problem when connected to the internet via your carrier's cellular network?
I don't believe Comcast has an authenticated SMTP server and if not, you will not be able to send with the account unless you are connected to the internet with Comcast via an available wi-fi network.
Who is your carrier? If AT&T, ATT's SMTP server is available on the iPhone to select for an account when connected to ATT's network if the account does not have an authenticated SMTP server. If turned on as a seconday SMTP server, if Comcast's SMTP server can't send email when connected to ATT's network, ATT's SMTP server should be used automatically.

Hi I have purchased a iPhone 5 from Hong Kong and I am using it in china. All works well except that I cannot send SMS (still can receive them)... I have contacted the apple support but I have no solution till now. I also asked China Unicom for help but they cannot find the problem... More over the activation of message and FaceTime doesn't : I can use iMessage and FaceTime but on settings the activation doesn't work. Did anyone have similar problem and was anyone able to find the good solution ?

Hello, I also have the same problem. My iPhone 5 is a from Hong Kong too! My iMessage doesn't work as well as FaceTime also. It keeps saying waiting for activation. I use china unicom too, tried contacting them but they couldn't solve the issue. But it many cases when I change my SIM card or insert mine to another phone , it suddenly activates. This is really frustrating because I can't check my credit balance at all or send urgent messages to people.
Anyone with a good suggestion?
