Cannot send texts from iMessage to sprint users (from Verizon)

For some reason I cannot send messages via iMessage to any of my contacts who use Sprint. I'm on Verizon if that matters. I talked to an Apple Rep on the phone and they thought maybe sprint users had to have use an email address instead of a phone number, but I cannot find any such thing online.
All the rest of my contacts work fine in iMessage. Sadly my immediate family is all on Sprint. Included an image of what I get when I try (the white space is the 10-digit phone number).

If the person hasn't registered their email address with imessage then it won't work. They have to register their phone with their email address in order to use imessage. Try having your friends send you an imessage from their sprint phone and see it if works. BTW imessage doesn't rely on the carrier at all. It just depends on if the person set it up properly and has an email address associated with it.

Sending messages solely over text requires you to completely disable your Wi-Fi and cellular data connection, or change a few settings within the Settings app.
There are two ways:
Disable iMessage to Send as SMS:
Tap the Settings app>select the "Message" option>Set the "iMessage" toggle switch to the "Off" position>Tap the Messages app and send your text message
Or: Disable Wi-Fi and Cellular Data to Send as SMS
Tap the Settings app and select the "Wi-Fi" option>Set the "Wi-Fi" toggle switch to the "Off" position>return to the Settings page>Choose the "General" option>Select "Cellular" >Set the Cellular data toggle switch to the "Off" position>Send your text message as normal.

I recently upgraded to iOS7 (like everyone else) and today cannot send text messages or iMessage. I can make phone calls and use other internet services. Any ideas?

Sorry to learn of any issues since upgrading to iOS7. Let's try some troubleshooting! Do you find that this issue is only for other iPhone users, or does it happen with all messages? The first thing you should do is contact your carrier and make sure that your account is properly provisioned to send text messages.

I'm guessing you are getting the error for all messages you attempt to send, is that correct?
What type of phone did you upgrade from? We ask because if you have switched from an Apple device (e.g., iPhone) to a non-Apple device (e.g., Android, Blackberry, etc.) and previously used the iMessage service, you may experience issues sending/receiving SMS/MMS messages with Apple device users. You need to deactivate the iMessage service within your Apple account to restore normal SMS/MMS functionality.

I cannot send text messages to others not on my iphone4S.

Can anyone out there help me with this? I can send text messages (imessages) to friends with a newer iphone, but no messages come in or go out to those that are not on iphones. I tried every combaination of settings in the Messages area of the settings - and nothing works. i have checked with AT&T online, and my account shows I have full unlimited text on my plan - and it worked 3 days ago on my old iphone. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue. AT&T members can't receive messages from me. This started for me back around June 9 while I was actually a Sprint user. Switched to Verizon on June 19, hoping to solve the issue. However weeks later, AT&T users still can't receive messages from me.
They can receive MMS, just not SMS. I receive message from them. It is affecting both Android and iPhone users. I have always had an Android device.
PLEASE HELP!

Why can't I send text or Imessages?

I cannot send text messages or imessages on my iphone. I have tried everything. I can write a text but then when I try to push send it won't allow me to. It is like the button is frozen or something. I am still receiving messages from other people but cannot send any myself.

If the Send button is frozen meaning the text message or iMessage cannot be sent and no change after powering the iPhone off and on and/or a reset which is similar to a computer restart, try restoring your iPhone with iTunes from the iPhone's backup first. If no change after that, try as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

Starting 10 days ago, I cannot send text messages. i can still receive text messages.
I tested my phone with a colleague who has an iphone. He receives a record that I am texting him but the message is null. I also texted a family member on her Android phone and she gets nothing.
Here's what I have done:
1. I did a hard reset twice. I removed the battery and even the SIM card in the process.
2. Soft reset once using the Alt, **bleep**, Del key.
3. Checked if my BB had the latest sotfware. It did It currently has OS 6 with bundle 2647.
4. Wind Mobile Canada has reset my PIN
5. I re-registered my phone as guided by the Wind Mobile tech support. I got an email from BB saying "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network".
What else could I try?

Thank you for your message. It seems like it is certain Verizon iPhone users. I did not download any new apps or perform any software updates on my iPhone. The ppl I could send text messages to were non VZ non iPhone users. Today I can only send to some iPhone users. They also had error messages sending text messages to me but not to my daughters iPhone (we r on a VZ family plan). Do I need to perform an update like *228 or something like that? Thank you!

IPhone 5 cannot send text message

I live in Thailand and have an annoying problem with my iPhone5 messaging. In the first day of two I had successfully sent and received iMessage, MMS and normal SMS to other non iPhone recipients. Now after only a few days I cannot send SMS or iMessage at all to various friends.
I had reset the network settings yesterday and today I had restored factory settings then restored back from iCloud but I have exactly the same problem. When sending an SMS a red exclamation mark icon appears with a message 'Not Delivered'.
Also yesterday my provider here in Thailand sent a code in an attempt to fix this problem but that didn't work. If I need to reply to someones SMS I have to send an MMS.
Anybody have a solution yet. Do I have a faulty unit or can Apple fix this ??

I would start by disabling iMessage first and see if that helps.
You can also try resetting your network settings.
To do so click SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET then select RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.
A third but uglier solution would be to restore your phone from a backup or as new to see if that helps.

N73 - Cannot send text messages/Multimedia key not...

Sent my N73 into the shop to be fixed, and it came back with 2 problems. I cannot send text messages at all. I have heard that this can be solved with the sms accelerator, but I can find NO download link for the N73. I found another one and installed it onto my phone (version 1.0(0)) but the problem persists. ANy ideas or links to where the sms accelerator is for the N73?
The 2nd problem is the multimedia key is no longer programmable. I press the multimedia key, then select the down arrow (configure) I scroll down to any of the options right, left, top, center, bottom. When I press the center joystick I just am taken back to the multimedia screen. I am not given any choices to reprogram the keys....any ideas there???

Often it's just a case of resetting the phone after it comes back from repairs if they've upgraded or simply reflashed the firmware for you.
Note that these operations will wipe your phone's internal memory so do a backup before proceeding.
First option: revert to factory defaults. Dial *#7780#.
Second option: soft reset. Dial *#7370#.
Third option: hard reset. Switch the phone off and do the following.
1) Press and hold the green "call", "3" and "*" buttons.
2) With those buttons pressed down, switch the phone on.
3) Keep pressing those 3 buttons and only release them once the phone shows signs of life such as the Nokia "hands" logo or the language selection screen.

Cannot send text form my iphone 4S. . Even if I turn off imessage. I can receive messages. If I turn on I messsage the send and receive just shows my email if I press on it,it shows my email ticked and phone no in grey with no tick. It wont allow me to tick it. Can annyone help please

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password. On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.
