Cannot send to yahoo accounts?

I have 3 e-mail accounts setup in my apple mail client. Whenever I send from any 3 of these accounts to a yahoo account the recipient never receives the e-mail even though it shows up in the sent folder. I will even cc to my gmail account in the same email to a yahoo account and I receive it in my gmail, but the yahoo recipient does not receive.
If I go directly to the web (bypass apple mail) and send to a yahoo account the recipient will get the email. Not sure what is going on? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance, Scott

Are any of your accounts that you're sending from with Yahoo!, and if so, are they free accounts or paid accounts? Have your recipients checked their Yahoo! email account online to see if any of your messages are being put into Yahoo!'s spam folder? If not, they should look there first, since it could be they have been categorized as spam.

  • Suddenly cannot send via Yahoo.

I have had Yahoo accounts since the dawn of time, since OS9 to be exact.
So why does Mail suddenly decide it cannot see or gets rejected passwords for sending Yahoo mail?Receive is ok. I can log on the web-based service with the same password. My keychain seems ok. I have done nothing to harm it.
    What is going on?

This has now degraded to having problems retrieving.
I seriously doubt that it is my settings, as sometimes if I manually trigger a retrieval it works without doing anything else. Therefore it is not even the corruption of the settings to some broken fixed state.
But then that is for one Yahoo account. The other one does not let this happen today. Yesterday both were fine. The day before the one working manually was not ok.
My Entourage is DONKEYS, I mean 2001, and Entourage, while not perfect, was pretty stable and at least allowed me to send and receive my mail (duh).
It is a shame we have to take Mail3 when we move to Leopard as a +fait accompli+ instead of being able to hang back with Mail2. Mail2 was pretty predictable and got me off Entourage. I am seriously considering moving back to Entourage.
Apple should unbundle in some way so we can step forward on things like Mail, iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto etc etc app by app instead of this Communist "all or nothing take it or uninstall the entire OS release" approach we currently have.
Does anyone know how to fall back to Mail2 even?

  • Mail recieving but not sending on Yahoo account!

    Hi,
I have had my Yahoo email set up and running fine through Mail for the last year or so. However for the last couple of days I can receive email's but not send them.
I have three yahoo accounts and it's the same on all three. I've tested the connection settings and they're all fine. I've even deleted the accounts from Mail and set them up again from scratch.
    I get the following error:
*'Sending the message content to the server failed.*
*Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.'*
    Anyone else getting this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Steve

In order to prevent spam and address spoofing, some mail systems are now being set to disallow 'relay'
That is, sending to another host via an intermediate account.
Example: Your mail account is [email protected]
You are popping mail from [email protected] You get a message at your yahoo address from [email protected]
When you try to reply to the yahoo message from your host.com account, you are trying to use host.com as an intermediate to yahoo.com, which will in turn send the reply to [email protected]
you are thus asking host.com to relay a message from [email protected] to [email protected]
In reality, host.com has no idea who [email protected] is.
So it refuses to allow an unknown user from a foreign system to use it's mail server to send to a 3rd mail server. This is considered relay, and it's a favorite tactic for spammers.
That may be why you are told to "select a different outgoing server"

  • Mail cannot send to any account!

Snow Leopard has broken my long-term Mail system!
I note that fairly recently I had problems with Mail (under 10.5) that meant it only did outgoing mail on one of two commonly-used servers. This was fixed by restoring an old (pre-problem) version of Mail prefs. Thunderbird and Eudora worked fine with identical server settings.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10039384#10039384
Well after installing 10.6 NEITHER of my accounts will accept outgoing mail! One still shows no reason ("cannot send') the other claims that the outgoing address is rejected (oh no it isn't - the university system does not check). Incoming mail is fine.
Again Thunderbird works just fine for both outgoing and incoming mail (also under 10.6). Restoring pre-problem prefs no longer helps.
Any suggestions? (other than dumping Mail and using Thunderbird!!)

I got my outgoing Mail working in Snow Leopard. Here's how...
Since I have a cable modem, Cox does NOT require Authentication when sending via Cox's smtp server. A Cox representative told me this. Cox's servers can "see" my authorized cable modem and the servers KNOW that I am a legitimate user of their smtp server. So, no outgoing mail software-based Authentication is needed. Because of that, I have NEVER had to turn on Authentication for smtp outgoing mail. NEVER!
Well, Apple's Snow Leopard Mail has changed SOMETHING that is giving Cox's server fits. Apparently, Apple has decided you HAVE to use software-based smtp Authentication whether you want to or whether your ISP requires it, or not!
So.... to get my outgoing smtp mail working again, for each of my accounts, I had to individually set up smtp settings WITH Password Authentication turned on. Of course, it's the same password as I use for checking mail on each of those accounts. But, once I got smtp Password Authentication turned on, I'm back to being able to send Mail.
I'm sure the changes Apple made to Mail are all about improving security, etc. But this is really a bunch of BS. They have just inconvenienced a BUNCH of customers. If my ISP doesn't require Password Authentication for outgoing E-mail because I have a hardware connection that verifies who I am (that I'm a customer), then Apple has no business FORCING the Password Authentication for smtp!
This is about as dumb a thing I've seen Apple do in quite awhile!

  • TS3899 since I downloaded ios 6 on my ipad 3 I cannot access my yahoo account

Can someone help me? Since I downloaded ios 6

I am having this issue as well. Except I can access my Main AT&T Yahoo account. But am unable to access AT&T Yahoo sub accounts. I can successfully sign into the sub account via Safari, but am continually prompted for password when trying to access the account through my iPhone email. This is really ticking me off!

  • Cannot access my yahoo account

Hello.  I can't access my yahoo email in my mac.  Have been going on for weeks now.  I receive email in my blackberry, though.
    Tks!

Yahoo changed their email authentication requirements for Apple devices using Yahoo mail but Apple devices are unable to display a useful error message that tells you how to resolve.  Try this:
    1.  Remove Yahoo account from your iOS/OSX device from the email accounts list in the settings app
    2.  Log in to Yahoo email via browser (may be required to change password) and:
              a. Activate the "second sign-in" feature
              b. Generate a new "app password" for your device
             (see https://help.yahoo.com/kb/yahoo-account/quotapp-passwordquot-sln15241.html)
    3.  On your iOS/OSX device add the Yahoo email account using the password from step 2b.

...I'm using Mail 3.1 on Leopard if that helps....

    Greetings,
I don't really have an answer for you, but I send email all the time to several Hotmail accounts. I use Mail 3.2, but it worked for all the other versions, too.
I haven't done anything special or unusual to mail's setup - I just use the defaults.
    Good luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Cannot send to hotmail accounts

    Hi
I am NOT interested in syncing my hotmail account with Mail. My problem is sending to my friends hotmail accounts.
My wife is on a similar (but older) computer and has the same problem.
When I send an email to any hotmail account some time goes by and I get a return email suggesting a failure in connecting. There are two very interesting facts:
    1. The return message might turn up 2 weeks after I sent the first email. So the message wasn't received in all that time.
    2. When I use my microsoft laptop to send from the very same POP account I use on my Mac - there are no problems.
There must be something totally screwed up.
    Any ideas?

Nothing screwed up with your Mac, with your wife's Mac or with the Mail application.
This problem lies entirely with Microslop which controls the incoming mail servers for Hotmail accounts - accepting or denying the receipt of messages at the server and sending the return email error message to the sender when a message sent by the sender was not accepted for whatever reason.
The Hotmail account recipients need to contact Microslop to report this problem.

  • I can receive mail on my bellsouth account on my iPad, but cannot send mail

Why is it I can receive email, but cannot send? My account is with Bellsouth.net

Hello, sounds like you haven't switched to iCloud yet, the old dot Mac & MobileMe servers are going away or gone for most already.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
    • Server name: imap.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 993
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
    • Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    • SSL Required: Yes
    • Port: 587
    • SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
    • Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
    • Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

  • Outlook 2010 - Multiple Exchange Accounts - Won't send from second account

I've setup multiple exchange accounts in Outlook 2010.  I receive fine for both accounts, but cannot send from second account.  Sent email goes to the Outbox and stays there.
I've tried going back to a second profile, and it works fine.  Mail in Outbox from efforts above stay in Outbox.  If I pull them up, I can resend with no issue.
I need to be able to send with multiple accounts in same profile to do other projects I'm currently working on.  Any ideas???
    Thanks,
    Mike

I was able to fix this with Outlook 2010 Service Pack 1.
Another area that I had to change was the inbox for that other account I created a rule to put in the primary inbox folder (email 2).
After that the email was only checking one to send and recieve based on the highlighted account, so to resolved that I went to Send/Reveive Groups > Define Groups > Edit Account Properties and made sure they refresh every 1 minute(s).

  • IPhone cannot send email using Yahoo account. iPhone no envia correo Yahoo.

    Hi Everyone,
I just got my iPhone from Movistar Venezuela and I've found I'm unable to send email using my Yahoo account. However, I can receive Yahoo email just fine (paid $20 for Mail Plus subscription), my GMail account can send and receive perfectly, and I can go surfin' Safari with no problems too.
The error message I get is "Cannot send mail: an error occurred while delivering this message". I called Movistar Customer Support and they said everything was fine on their end...
In typical Apple fashion, the error message is so simple I have no idea where the problem is. Does anyone know how can I get more information and how to solve this annoying problem? My Yahoo account is actually my primary account...
    Thanks in advance!

    1) Borra tu cuenta
    2) Vuelvela a crear
    3) Ve a Ajustes
    4) Ve a Mail Contactos Calendarios
    5) Ve a la cuenta problematica
    6) Ve a SMTP
    7) Anadir nuevo
    8)
    Nombre servidor: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Nombre de usuario: no dejar vacio
    Contrasena: no dejar vacio
    Usar SSL: si
    Autenticacion: Contrasena
    Puerto del Servidor: 25
    Lo consegui de aqui: http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-settings.html
    Dime que tal te funciona.
I think I solved the issue, temporarily at least
    1) Delete account
    2) Create again
    3) Go to settings
    4) Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    5) Open problematic account
    6) Go to SMTP
    7) Add a new server
    8)
    Name: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
User name: do not leave blank
    Password: do not leave blank
    SSL: Yes
    Autentication: Password
    Port: 25

Not sure about yahoo, but for gmail, I done the following:
Set up using Exchange on iPhone, it'll keep prompting for password.  On PC use captcha option, log in to gmail account from PC after completingg captcha option, enter password on iPhone.
See how that goes for gmail, let us know.
Hopefully someone will have fix for yahoo.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
