Cannot sent emails

I am using mail with a POP account. Everything was working fine until a few days ago. When I open mail and go to "get mail" I get the little icon saying "connection problem" and the two buttons with "Stay Offline" and "Go Online" I would click on "go online" and I would be able to recieve and send email. I am still getting the same errors, I can receive email, but not send. Everything stays in my outbox and it tells me to check my server settings. I have checked the settings serval times, they are correct, I have checked network connections, the one I use "built in ethernet is in the top position, I have set and reset the router. I am connected to the internet by DSL and a Linksys router. I have deleted the server settings in the email accounts. I evern set up a new email account and it does the same thing. Any suggestions?
G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

This is the message I get when I go into mail
Connection Failure - 4 accounts have connection
failures. Click on the indicator next to each
individual account for more detail. "Stay Offline"
"Go Online"
This tells me that you have 4 separate email accounts set up that are having trouble connecting. Are there 4 different accounts that you actually use?
My activity window says delivering message and the
connection doctor says everything is good.
Did you open the Connection doctor before or after you clicked Go Online? If you did it after then the message above doesn't help at all since we know it works fine after you click Go Online. If that's the case can you do it again before you click Go Online?

You can't send emails? Do you receive an error message when you try to send them? Have you done ANY troubleshooting on the device at all? If you don't have time to try things yourself, it will almost certainly take longer to try it in here.

  • Cannot sent email

I can receive email on my iphone 3G ok but when I try to reply or create new email I get the message "The recipient"%@ was rejected by the sever because it does not allow relaying".
My iphone used to be ok but now seems to have a fault. Any idea's how I can get it back on track.
    Thanks
    villagehouse.

Relay is associated with mail servers that do not require authentication (anonymous sending). These are increasingly rare because of abuse and most service providers require users to login in order to send just as they must for receiving.
Either your iPhone SMTP (that's the outgoing mail server) configuration has been wiped, or maybe your service provider has recently changed their policy and no longer allows anonymous access to SMTP.
You will need to check out, and configure if necessary, your SMTP settings on the iPhone. Look under Settings / Mail / {account} / Outgoing Mail Server SMTP / Primary Server. If the username and password settings are blank, try setting them to your regular e-mail username and password that you configured for receiving e-mail.
I've been trying to find Apple online documentation that can explain this better but with no luck. Hopefully someone else can provide a reference that will assist your further.

  • Cannot sent EMails using SIRI

    Hi,
I've tested Siri a few day and it's working really fine, but I'm not able to send Emails using Siri. I always get an answer like:  "Oh; something went wrong" (German: Da ist etwas schief gelaufen).
I'm using Siri in german language.
Does anyone know what's the reason for this?
    Thanks, Dirk

  • Cannot send email in mail app. using POP account with Wi-Fi

I recently moved to an apartment that only has wireless internet access. Since moving I cannot send email using my POP account, although I can receive email. I was also not able to receive email using my .mac account, but I learned through this forum to change server port to 587 in .mac account and now I can send via .mac account in mail app. But I still cannot sent email with mail app. using my POP account. I changed no settings when I moved, and have never had this problem with cable. Any suggestions?

It all depends on the policy of whoever is the ISP at your new location and the method used by the outgoing (SMTP) server to determine whether you’re a legitimate user.
In an attempt to fight spam, many ISPs restrict the ability to send using an outgoing (SMTP) server not owned by them, usually by blocking port 25 for all traffic outside their own network, which means you cannot send with an SMTP server not owned by them if configured to use that port number. And it may happen the other way around as well, i.e. the outgoing server itself may look at the IP address you’re connecting from and refuse the connection if you’re outside its own network.
Something that often works is changing the outgoing server port to 587 (or whatever alternate port number the outgoing server listens to) instead of 25 and using some form of authentication in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Server Settings, but two conditions must be satisfied for this change to work: (1) the ISP must not block that port as well AND (2) the outgoing server in question must listen to that port and accept a form of authentication not based on the IP address you’re connecting from.
Independent mail service providers not tied to a particular ISP, such as .Mac and Gmail, do allow authenticated SMTP access on port 587, which is the reason changing the outgoing server port number solves the problem for them if the ISP doesn’t block that port as well.
The following article, for example, describes several ways to address this issue in the case of .Mac, but can be useful for other mail accounts as well (not just .Mac), and applies to all versions of Mac OS X (not just Mac OS X 10.4.2 and earlier as the article states):
.Mac: Server timeout alert message when sending email

  • Cannot access sent email

All of a sudden, I cannot access my sent email! The address and subject line/date/size show, but in the area for the content, I get the message "The message from .... has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
What the heck does this mean? I am still sending and receiving mail just fine, but I cannot view anything I've sent. This has just started recently. I am using an older silver Mac G4 with OS10.3.9

    I had the same problem,
I managed to solve it by deleting many emails, mostly the ones with large attachements. Just delete and erase deleted mail.
Reducing the size of the mailbox was the trick.
Just beware that after you deleted the emails, it takes sometime for the Mail app to compact and reindex your mailbox even if NO activity is shown. If you close the app too soon you'll see no more the deleted emails but they will still be in the mailbox and problem will still be there!
Just leave it on for a while and check into Users>usr>Library>Mail>POP-yourmailaccount that the INBOX and Sent Messages mailbox are of a reasonable size (no more than 400 Mb)

  • Says sent box full all the time - but it is empty - cannot refer to any sent emails

when I write an email and send- it says sent box is full - I have compacted numerous times but no joy.
    any suggestions welcome
I have 299 messages in sent now as have deleted alot bnad it say 4GB? inbox over 6000 and only 1.25 GB.

    So your settings say:
    IMAP mail acount:
    selected: 'Place a copy in'.
selected: 'Other' and 'Sent on Local Folders.'
This means that although you use an imap account you are not saving the sent items on the server with all your other emails. Instead you are saving them in Local Folders on your computer.
    Try this.
    * Right click on the Sent Folder in Local Folders.
    * select 'Properties'
    * 'General Information' tab - click on 'Repair Folder'
    * click on OK
    * click on the small black arrow to the left of 'Local Folders' to collapse the Local folders tree.
    * Then click again to open the Local Folder tree so that you can see all the folders again.
    * Select / highlight all sent emails. (Ctrl+A); they should appear as 'conversations' in the Message Pane.
    * Archive those emails - click on 'Archive' button. The emails should appear in the Local Folders Archive folder. Your Sent folder should now appear empty.
    * Then right click on Sent folder in Local Folders and select 'compact'.

  • Cannot get 'sent' email off my E72

I have a UK E72, with two POP3 email accounts set up.  If I send an email from the E72, it's placed in the 'sent items' folder on the phone, which is OK.  What I'd like to do is have a copy of the sent email on my laptop, but there's no way of doing this.  I can't move the messages to the inbox (or anywhere else), and sync doesn't copy them to the server.
I've tried including myself as a BCC in the message, but it never arrived!
Is there a good alternative to the built-in email software?

isn't a smart solution to put cc . Try to configure your email using IMAP instead of pop3 . Let me know if helped

  • Cannot send email from 3 accounts Mac Pro

My brand new Mac Pro cannot send email using Gmail, Shaw, or iCloud.  At times I can send a simple test message, other times I cannot send.  It seems the more data in the email, it for sure cannot be sent.  The sent messages get stuck in the Out Box.  Full green lights, no red lights in the connection diagnostics window.  Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.

thank you for your reply, I did this with the same problem.  Turns out that I went to FAQ section and went to the "Sharing" section of "system preferences"  and changed my computer name by removing all spaces and apostrophe where it lists my computer name under Mac Book Pro, and problem solved.

  • "Cannot send email from this device"?

I recently purchased the Easy Release App from the ITunes store and when I try to email the release to my email address it says "Cannot send email from this device". Is it the app that is preventing the sending or is it something to do with the iPod? I've tried sending an email from the iPod to see and it is sent fine from the iPod but the app still won't send from the iPod.
Has this ever happened to someone else? Do I have to change settings on my iPod?
I have the IPod 4th generation if that helps

I had the same problem. You have to go into Settings in your ipod touch, scroll down and find "mail, contacts, calendars." Set up your email in there. It will give you a list I.e. yahoo, hotmail, gmail. After you've dont that you'll be able to sent the model release.

  • Cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI

I cannot send email from pop account when in 3G, will send in WIFI.
I thought it was the SMTP server first.. but when i config my WIFI, suddenly the emails that i tried to send, left my outbox and sent.
    Any idea's

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?
