Cannot set a song as alarm sound

Hey there,
I have been trying to set a song as my alarm sound on my Xperia Z but have not been having much luck. I followed the advice that I found on a thread on this website, but it still is not working.
So far I have created a file named "Alarms" and placed a song in that file. The song then appears in my list of potential alarm sounds, but when I select it as the alarm sound, and the alarm goes off, it just plays a default alarm sound, rather than the song that I selected.
I have tried rebooting the phone and clearing my media data as well, but the song still does not play when the alarm goes off. Any other ideas?
Thanks!!

Are you able to play the same song using the Walkman player?
Which build number are you running on?
Have you tried this with other songs as well?

  • How to remove an Alarm Song from Alarm Sound list?

When using the standard Clock app, how do I remove an alarm song from the Alarm sound list under Edit Alarm? I can add new songs, but cannot find a way to remove unwanted ones.

The two most played songs are added by default, & there is a limit of 5 songs that can be added. The only way to remove a song is to keep adding a new song until the one you want removed is removed.
Tell Apple you want better control of this here:

  • Set a song as alarm?

Is there something I'm missing in Clocks, but can you set a song in your library to play as your alarm on the iPhone?

    yeah maybe!!
well, the iTunes store is still not available for Jordan, so my ringtones are made by me actually, i use a program to cut how long i want, add fading.
i make it as a ringtone then by just renaming the extensions!
and i drag to iTunes and it is directly under Ringtones Tab!
so i really don't have the experience with doing it BY iTunes, so i can't say a thing about that

You couldn't do it in previous versions either. You have to convert them to ringtones first.

    You must create a ringtone.
Google will find several ways to do this.

  • How do you get rid of unwanted alarm sound songs?

Hey guys.  I'm stumped.  I have an iphone 5 that I recently set back to factory settings so it's cleared out of music.  And I don't sync my phone with my itunes library on my macbook as I don't want music on my phone.
BUT I noticed there's 246 songs on my alarm sounds area, where you can pick what alarm sound you want.  And they all have the icloud with arrow symbol to the right of them?  I don't use icloud for music.  I only use icloud for contacts and find my iphone.
How do I delete these 246 alarm songs from my phone?!?  I accidentally touched the icloud with arrow symbol on one of the songs and it housed it permanently in my phone's songs app.  Help!!!

Not sure how iCloud music with an iCloud icon meaning it has not been downloaded can appear with Show All Music off.
When you restored the iPhone with iTunes, did you restore from the iPhone's backup or as a new iPhone or not from the backup?

  • How delete Songs in Clock Add Alarm Sound?

In ios 7 under Clock<Add Alarm<Sound, there's a section at the top named 'Songs,' which I don't recall seeing before.  There are 3 songs there from my iTunes, and I don't recall ever adding them there.  How do I delete them?  There's no Edit button there, and the songs are not listed under General Settings<Sound<Ringtones.
    Thank you,
    William

I was not aware of the fact one could use ringtones as alarms, this will suffice! Although I foresee some very awkward times as the sound does not stop once I respond to the reminder (it keeps going for good five - ten seconds after I "stop" the reminder), but it's better than missing it altogether!
    Thank you very much!
Regarding the Alarmed app, doesn't it have to be running to actually remind you?
-Modular747: I don't know anyone who actually reads the terms of service agreement, those things are usually up to thirty, small print pages full of legal jargon. Rules, I do read - not the legal documents (also they often contradict the laws in my country, but that's a whole different story).
I agree with you - the average customer support consultant mostly cares about keeping his job and earning his salary (don't we all?) and thus racking up completted tasks (i.e. getting rid of customers as fast as possible - in a good mood). The "threat" none the less is real, if a cell phone causes me more trouble than it is worth, I will indeed throw it away (I have done so before) - and recommend a different brand to anyone willing to listen.
Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and I've been faithfully using and recommending their producs for twenty years now, not because of fanboyism, but because they earned it. This calendar issue, however, is like a toaster that doesn't automatically eject the toast at the set time. I see it as a major flaw and after googling around a bit I see that it's been around since at least 2007 (THAT'S SEVEN YEARS!!) so I strongly believe they are aware of this problem by now, but are choosing to ignore it for some mysterious reason and it really ****** me off.
I will send the feedback but based on my observations I suspect the Send button is merely a cleverly disguised Delete button.

  • I cannot hear any songs or movies from my laptop speakers - the headphone port works and a red light is showing? The output sound settings are showing as digital optical only? Any ideas :)

I cannot hear any songs or movies from my laptop speakers - the headphone port works and a red light is showing from the port? The output sound settings are showing as digital optical only? I used the headphones in the laptop for the first time yesterday and have had this problem ever since. Any ideas

The internal switch in the audio output port is stuck.  Try inserting the earphone plug a few times.  If no success, try jiggling a tooth pick inside in order to trip the switch.. If still no success, have the technicians at the Apple store genius bar do it for you.
    Ciao.

  • Alarm not working. cannot set/create new

    I have an iphone 5c running 8.0.2
I was having issues with sending text messages so I looked up similar problems and ended up having to reset network settings. this resolved the issue with the text messages but now I cannot set/create new alarms and all of my previous alarms were deleted. seems odd that the two are somehow connected but that is all I can think of that I have done since this morning (where it worked just fine).
this is very frustrating, any help is appreciated.

I am having the same problem with my Iphone 4s running 8.0.2
I noticed yesterday that all of my set alarms were deleted. When I go to add a new alarm, nothing appears after I press 'save'. The small alarm icon appears in the top right for a moment, but disappears after a split second.
    There is no error message.
I've used the same alarms for years without any problems.

  • Cannot set alarm between 2:00 am and 2:59 am

    iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3
I cannot set an alarm between 2:00 am and 2:59 am. The alarm actually sets itself as 1:xx am. It's only 11:30 pm eastern as I write this and I'm guessing as the clock ticks over to March 14th this will go away but what the heck?
Guess I should sleep till 3.

The reason you get the exception is right there in the message. You are trying to insert a datetime value that is out of range. The valid SQL Server datetime range is between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM. If you send in a datetime outside
of this range, you will get the exception you mention.
Now, there is a thing or two to know about this. First off, the .net datetime has a different range than the SQL datetime and ranges from the year 0001 up to year 9999. That means that while the .Net datetime is valid, it might break when you try to send
    it to SQL Server.
In order to get around this, you have several options, depending on your preference and how your code is structured.
One idea is to change the datatype in the SQL Server column to datetime2 which has the same range as the .Net datetime.
Another is to catch the exception and handle it in your code after it has occured using a try/catch.
Most likely you want to validate the data BEFORE sending it to SQL Server though, and you can check that your datetime variable is in the valid range by comparing it to the max and min values in SQL Server datetime type using System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlDateTime.MinValue
and .MaxValue respectively. If your variable is outside of these, you can alert the user or whatever you need to do.
(Yet another option is to declare your variable as a System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlDateTime and use that, but I would not go that route, but rather use the native .Net datatypes and validate the range).

  • 5230: agenda alarm sound: how to set (lower!) volu...

I can't find how to set (lower, it's way too loud for me) the volume of the alarm-sound for the agenda on my 5230.
    Anyone ?
I also noticed there is no place to set the 'default' sound, seems the agenda-alarm-settings are "nowhere" (not in profiles anyway, I think) ?

All you can do is adjust the volume on your current profile, go if you want to reduce the volume of your alarm tone, change profile when you set the alarm, and set the ringing volume on the new profile at a volume you are happy with !

  • IOS 7 forgets set alarm sound

After syncing with iTunes my alarm sound is always changed back to the default alarm sound.
I'm using the pick a song option. It is frustrating I have my music to sync manually and I'm not deleting the song from the device.
Was wondering if anyone is having this problem it just seems like an annoying bug with iOS 7. Since I rely on the alarm clock function and I don't want to miss
    an alarm.

I have the same problem on my 5. Before the IOS7 update I always used a song as my alarm tone with no issues. Now, with IOS7, my alarm goes off and it has somehow switched itself right back to the default "Radar" tone. Sometimes it doesn't make a sound at all, just vibrates. Which I've heard others having the same issue.
It's very frustrating because I happen to like waking up to a song that I picked instead of some annoying tone and I really don't want to have to use a secondary app. Especially when the alarm app worked just fine before the update.
Another weird glitch: When I change the alarm tone back to my song (alarm>edit>sound>pick a song), like when you are choosing any tone on a phone, it plays it so you know what you are picking, but it keeps playing the song even after I have saved changes and left the app. I have to close out of the app completely to get it to stop playing.

  • Alarm sounds - using songs in iphone 4

I want to use a song on my IPhone 4 for alarm sound. I had been doing this, but since recent IOS update, the phone prompts me to download any song I choose ..... and they are already on my phone. If I ignore this message, the alarm is just vibration. The normal choices of alarm sounds work. Why did it work before, not not work now?

My phone did this... My emojis that I had after contact names that were disappearing and reappearing... Then I would add them back and they'd disappear again. I have an iPhone 5 and haven't seen any posts about it :/

  • I cannot delete some songs from 4s and I already tried to sweep and delete will hook to my lap top

I cannot delete some songs from my 4s phone and have tried all the suggestions posted.

    Hey uwscottc,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your iPhone in relation to music. Does the music that appeared on your device have a cloud symbol next to it when viewed in “Songs”? If so, it sounds like these songs are not yet downloaded to your phone. Instead, it sounds like you have the “Show All [Music]” setting enabled (by default in iOS 7):
    iPhone User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/
Just show music that’s been downloaded from iCloud. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Add New Alarm Sounds...?

    Hi all,
How can we go about adding new Alarm Sounds in the iPhone 4? I have been checking some tutorials to do it with iTunes, followed the instructions (like, puting a "Start" and "End" time to a song, creating an AAC file out of it, copying the song in a folder, changing it's extension to M4R for Ringtones, deleting the AAC song from the iTunes and finally adding the M4R file back in iTunes...and it appears in a newly created folder called Ringtones, and it plays...)
So then, I synch the iPhone and, correct me if I'm wrong here, I go in the Clock, Alarm, choose a sound, then I can see of course those Bell Tower, Boing, Bark etc...but not the "new ringtone"...is there anything else I'm missing in this process?
I have also read that the ringtones cannot be more than 30 secs...mine is 29 secs...
    Thanx in advance!
    sb

All custom ringtones transferred to your iPhone will be available at a custom ringtone to select for phone calls, and for an alarm sound.
I have a few ringtones that I purchased from the iTunes store to test using the iTunes ringtone creator for a song purchased from the iTunes store that has also been licensed to be sold and used as a ringtone, and I've created a few custom ringtones myself with music or sound files that do not have DRM protection.
When I select Sound to pick a sound for an alarm, I have the following options:
A Purchased category at the top for all ringtones purchased from the iTunes store, a Custom category for all ringtones that I created with songs or music files that do not include DRM protection, and the Standard sounds, which is the same that I have available when selecting a default ringtone for all calls, and when selecting a ringtone for a particular contact.
