Cannot set up my POP email account

I have a POP email account from my hosting service. At home I use this with Apple Mail, with the outgoing server to be my ISP. Works fine.
I have tried entering all this info on the Touch, and it spins a long time verifying pop settings" and then fails.
Sometimes I get a dialog about a bad certificate, or about trying without SSL, which i say yes to. But no luck.
My Mobile Me and Google accounts work fine.
Help!?

  • I cannot set ip a POP email account (not POP3)

I have one e-mail account that still seems to be based on the POP protocol rather than POP3. I cannot get Thunderbird to accept a POP account, it only offers POP3 or IMAP, there is no other option, as a result I cannot access the account through Thunderbird, Outlook on the other hand has no problem. How do I resolve this issue?

re: I have one e-mail account that still seems to be based on the POP protocol rather than POP3.
Are you sure? POP3 is the current standard compliant and has been so for ages / years.
What settings are you using in Outlook:
    Incoming Server name : ?
    Port: ?
    Connections Security : ?
    Authentication Method: ?
What comes after the @ in your email address?

  • I cannot add a new pop email account in my "iphone 6"

I cannot add a new pop email account in my iphone, when i confirmed "saving account" it is automatically being closed and kick-out me from?
It is iPhone 6 and the system is iOS 8.1
I am going to select "Others" and then my user name, password and "next".
Then IMAP and POP settings screen is coming. I am going to select "POP" with my incoming and outgoing server details.
And finally I am going to proceed with "save".... So... pupff........ it is going, closing, kicking me out. Maybe 20-25 times since yesterday I try it but no win.
What should I do for these my friends. This is my business email... It was working before in iPhone 5s and afte iPhone 6 I make reset for 5s.
I try later on for 5s again. It make me the same thing also. They are not allowing me to add a new pop email address.

    Is it your own domain?
Have you tried setting up as Exchange?

  • How do I set up a POP email account (not an LDAP account)

When I try to establish a new email account with my COX provider, the mail program defaults to an LDAP account. LDAP doesn't seem to allow me to leave my messages on the COX server after I have read and deleted them on my MACBook. The POP protocol allows messages to be left on the server for a specific number of days
How do I force the account to be set up as a POP account?.

    Howdy Jerry,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to setup your COX email account as a POP account in Mail on your MacBook Pro, which is running OS X Mountain Lion. The first article will guide you to the Mail account configuration panes where you can make the change, but I recommend reading the other two articles linked below also because they will tell you more about the types of email accounts that Mail supports and ensure the accounts are setup in a way that won’t cause more issues in the future.
Mail (Mountain Lion): Send and receive mail for all your accounts
    Set up your accounts
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
Click an account type, enter your account information, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Make sure the apps you want to use with the account are selected.
Mail (Mountain Lion): About account types
Mail settings you might need from your email provider
    I hope this helps.

  • Can't set up a pop email account

    I have a new iPhone 4S.
I have 3 email addresses, 2 work fine but my other can only accept mail, I can't send from it. I have deleted the account and set it up again but it's the same. I have just noticed that even though I have put my pop incoming and outgoing server addresses, it has set it up as an IMAP account and I can't seem to change it or even choose to set up a POP account so consequently I can't use it.
I synch my iPad and iPhone though iTunes [I am not using iClud or Mobile Me] and it all synchs fine onto my iPad which is showing the troublesome account as a Pop account and not an IMAP, it's only on my new phone that I cant set it as a POP account.
    Can anyone help?

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.
If you created a new account then you can log out of the old account and in with the new one as above, but any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can re-download its content and download updates to its apps.

  • Cannot set up a POP Email Accoint

I am trying to set up a POP account as an Other account on a third-generation iPad running iOS 5.1.
The account automatically defaults to an IMAP account without giving me an option to configure it as a POP account. I've tried it on two different third-generation iPads with the same result.
    Can anyone help?

I spoke to Apple support this morning. The rep's supervisor said to try setting up the AT&T account as a Yahoo account. This didn't work because in the verification process, it asks to log into the Yahoo account, which apparently is not the same as the AT&T Yahoo account. The user has only an AT&T account and no Yahoo account.
Trying to set up the account under Other results in an automatic default to an IMAP account instead of giving me the choice of POP or IMAP. The verification process fails because it can't find the IMAP server.
I tried setting up this account on my own iPad 3 with the same results. When I got my new iPad 3 a few days ago, I set up everything from a backup of an iPad 1, so I didn't have to add any AT&T email accounts, and my AT&T email works fine. The problem seems to be when you have to set up a new AT&T email account under iOS 5.1, possibly only in connection with a new iPad 3.
The owner of the troubled iPad 3 has an older iPhone under which the email account works, so I am going to try to use an iPhone backup (which doesn't currently exist) to transfer the email account and other settings to the new iPad 3.

  • Cannot Set Exchange Active Sync Email Account ot Default

OK, I am having a problem setting the Default Email Account as Exchange Active Sync. I am seeing this in iPhone and IPad both running 6.1.2. The Active Sync Mail account is installed on both devices and works fine. The problem is I am unable for some reason to change the Default Email Account from iCloud to the Exchange Active Sync Account installed. When I select the option to change Default Email Account, iCloud is there and checked however the Active Sync Account does not even show up as a selectable option here. Please help! Thanks

    Hi Flipper507,
Im having the same issue on a couple of devices. I am unable to select my exchange mail on my iphone 5 on ios 6.1.2 but on a colleague of mines iphone 4 we are able to select it. he is also on 6.1.2. on my iphone 5 it also not shows up as an option.
Would like to hear a solution for this.
    Kind regards

However, my personal email, which uses Windows Live Mail, doesn't seem to work - no matter what I do to enter the information.

Here's Apple's iPhone email setup assistant.  Maybe it will help you.
