Cannot set up new email account

I have recently started with a new provider. I set up my new email account, however I was not able to send email. After about an hour of remote support I still had not resolved the problem and was told it was an Apple problem. I have tried deleting the account ans starting over several times. I am now unable to send or receive. I keep getting the message "Mail can' connect to the account "  ". It asks for a pass word but this does not resolve the issue. I am not sure what I have done wrong.

So it turns out that when the tech guy from the ISP was trying to figure it out he had changed my password. He had told me that it was an Apple problem. I was able to get it resolved today. Thanks for replying

I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

    Settings,
    General,
    Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
    Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
    Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.

    There are two separate things you can do.
    You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
    You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account, and if it has @mac.com or @me.com versions these cannot be reinstated once deleted.

    Or if you want a completely separate account you will have to create a new iCloud account and sign into it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars. Note that any one device can create only three iCloud accounts.

    The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

    SSL is defaulted as ON when you set up a new email account on iPad but many ISPs don't use SSL, and when you create a new email account Verification takes FOREVER because iPad can't verify the acccount until you turn SSL OFF. But there's no way to turn it off until iPad tries to verify, with SSL ON, itself.
    Finally you'll get an error message that the server doesn't use SSL (DUH) and you get a popup that asks if you want to turn SSL off.
    You click YES and the verification got thru instantly which is what should have happened in the first place.
    The SSL ON/OFF switch should be on the first of the set up pages so you can turn it off and not have to wait endlessly for iPad to figure out the server doesn't use SSL.
    If you have a number of email accounts to set up on your iPad, I have 5, this was burdensome and should be addressed in an iOS update IMHO.

    Choose Hotmail for Hotmail and Other for the other one.
    The phone will try to determine the server addresses automatically. If it can't you'll be asked for them. If you don't know them you'll have to contact the email provider and ask.

    Your cable provider should have provided you with an email account and setup information. You should use that information to set up Mail for your email account. Start Mail, open the Mail Preferences, click on Accounts, click on Add Account, then add the information from your cable provider into the appropriate fields.

I have tried numerous times to put in my user name and password, which is correct, and the same messge keeps popping up.     Yahoo mail is famous for its down time. There have been a lot of problems with them in the last couple of weeks, and I would imagine that is what the problem is, not the phone.

    I have been using THUNDERBIRD for more than 10 years, changed and installed into many desktops and laptops. But this time, after I installed in my new desktop WIN8, I cannot set up any of my IMAP accounts. They are not gmail/yahoo. They are my business emails. But the settings I have been using is the same and not changed, tried uninstall, reinstall, I'm copying the exact settings that I have on my laptop (which is working perfectly fine). It kept saying "username or password is wrong"!!! My username is the full email address which I put it correctly. The port is the same port I used on the other computers. I just don't understand why is this happening...my laptop is using WIN8 as well...
    I can install and use with MAILBIRD, so the setting are all correct. But I just can't set any of my 5 accounts (same domain) up on this THUNDERBIRD this time...it's really frustrating.

    I interesting note:
    MAILBIRD uses port 993 for incoming mail but THUNDERBIRD uses port 143
    When uses 143, it kept " checking capabilities...."
    then I changed to port 993 (like in MAILBIRD), it said "connected to.....mail," but then "timed out"
    Any idea please???? help....extremely frustrated...

  • Trying to set up new email account - phone keeps freezing

    I am trying to add a new gmail account to my curve.  Whenever I try to - I click on set up, email accounts, and my phone keeps freezing.  I went to the verizon store, after 2 hours, they still could not figure it out so they gave me a new phone.  I went to another store a couple weeks later with the same problem, they told me they know there is a problem, and "hopefully the programmers are fixing it".  Does anyone know of what I can do to add an email account to my phone?

  • Cannot set up an email account

    I have a Godaddy email acount and a brand new Q10. I have tried everything to get it set up and it just keeps coming up with a server problem.
    To be specififc, I got all the details I needed from Godaddy. See below. I try every permutation of the different ports.
    Incoming server (POP3):pop.asia.secureserver.net
    110, 995 (SSL)
    Outgoing server (SMTP):smtpout.asia.secureserver.net
    80, 3535, 25, 465 (SSL)
    The response I get is " The server couldn't be contacted. Check that you are connected to a network and that the server adress is correct, and try again"
    I have also tried setting up the POP account and used the advanced settings. I get an error message saying "The server for account **************** can't be reached. The settings might be incorrect or the server could be temporarily offline. Check your settings and try again."
    I've been trying to fix this for over 4 hrs.
    Can anybody please help?

    Are you using two-step verification with the account? If so, you'll need to set up a specific password for the device in the GoDaddy settings.

    I tried to create new IMAP Yahoo Bizmail in Mac Pro's Mail, iPhone and iPad.
    Both iPhone and iPad work find and are able see my old emails in Inbox and Sent, also to receive and send emails.
    However, for the Mail, I can only see my old mails in Sent and Trash. Nothing in Inbox.
    I am able to send emails but there's no incoming email at all.
    All account infos are correct and I used the same setting with all Mail, iPhone and iPad.
    I have also tried to install my outlook account into Mail and it works fine.
