Cannot setup new Email Account.

Hello all, I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I am in the wrong area and feel free to point me in the right direction.
I tried sending a message to [email protected] but of course - in the bit bucket it goes. Don't know why they post this email address on their site if they have no intention of HELPing...
So here is the story:
I am a consultant and have a client that has a BB Curve. He has been using a certain provider inet for his email. He has now changed to a different provider (for technical reasons). I have tried to setup his new email account for the new provider – I also use a BB curves and have performed this operation for over 50 of my clients. However in this scenario, the Curve keeps asking for his account id and password. We have tried to enter it and it says that the Username cannot be blank. If we exit and re-enter the setup tool, and then enter the same info again, it says that the username and/or password is incorrect. His credentials have never - ever changed.
We cannot get his password (or acct info) sent to him by BB (RIM), because he no longer has the email address of record. Of course I tried entering a different email address to send it to, but of course it doesn't get to his phone as there is no eamil address setup (except his old one). The provider here in town (TELUS) has been quite useless in helping and have been quite specific that we need to talk to RIM, well of course this seems to be the only avenue available.
Can someone direct us to the appropriate area or resource in order to proceed with setting up his new email account.

The user has a "BIS Account' login username and password. This username is NOT an email address, (but it could be the first part of his email address... it's whatever was created -- does that make sense?). If his email address is [email protected], his username could be anything else, like "RobertSmith50". There's no relation.
Telus is being absurd. They can give the customer his username and reset the password.
Or, they can simply delete the previous BIS account, and add it back to his plan and then he can set it up fresh with the username and password he (or you) will now remember.
Anyway, I'd try one more time with them, and this time, perhaps using the correct terminology might peg their memory. Tell them you want to reset the the BIS data account -- either reset or delete and re-add. ONLY they can do this, RIM can't.
This dude IS Telus' customer, not RIM's. He pays Telus his monthly fees. You really need to ask for a manager or supervisor, and I'm sorry for all the bouncing back and forth... but you just gotta find a sober Telus rep.

    Hello, I have been trying for two days to setup an exchange email account (my work's account) in a Xperia Z3 with no success. It works fine with my iphone and it also works fine in all my colleagues Android phones. In my Xperia I go to add new account --> put my email account and username --> select exchange activesync --> and I put my doman\username, password, server, SSL and also leave the 443 port (though I have tried many aleternatives), but it can never connect.
    I was thinking about returning my Xperia as I need my work's email and calendar in my phone, but then I downloaded the Touchdown app whic is an email app for exchange accounts. I used the exact same setup configuration and it worked flawlessly.
    The issue is that I still would like to use my default email app for all my email accounts, including exchange. Is anybody having the same issue? Is it a bug in the Xperias Z3 email app? Will it be solved? Now I am using the Touchdown app (it costs 20 $) but in my opinion Sony's email app should solve this issue.

    I am having the same issue with my Sony Xperia Z3v. This is now the second Sony phone in as many weeks I have tried neither functions properly with exchange email. My corporate email is with rackspace.com and while I can go in and set up the account the phone does NOT recieve emails via push. I only get emails when I manually have the email application refresh. Calendars and tasks also DO NOT sync automatically via push. I really need a fix for this or I'm going to have to send this device back to verizon for a Samsung phone. I like many of the features of the sony device over the samsung but Email is a major problem for me this being a company phone.  

  • Cannot setup new gmail account

    Wow, this is frustrating.
    I have Gmail accounts already set up on my iphone.  But I am trying to set up a new one, and sync only the calendar.  I tried this with an existing account I want to use to see calendar entries on my iPhone and I tried creating a new Gmail account as well.  Same results.
    On my iPhone4, I went to Settings-Mail, Contacts, Calendars-Add Account-Gmail.  I put in a name, the full email address, the correct password, and a description.  When I save, it verifies successfully.  Then it asks me to turn on Mail, Calendar, and/or Notes.  I only want Calendar for this one (although I have tried selecting each of the others as well.  I've tried this many times now) so I turn it ON and the other two OFF and press SAVE.
    It says "Adding Account" at the top.  Next to that is the spinning circle wait cursor icon.  And it stays like that forever.  At least 15 minutes with me touching the screen everytime it went dim.
    I also tried it a different way.  I added the account as described above except I left everything off (Mail, Calendar, Notes).  The account did add!  However, when I went back into the account and tried to turn on Calendars, it says "Turning On Calendars" with the spinning circle.  And stays that way forever.  Once again, I let it sit that way for 15 minutes as well.
    Help?

    Okay, so two hard resets (pushing and holding home button and power button together) in a row did the trick. I had done it once already prior to posting this. I did it again, and then for laughs I did it a second time. And to my amazement, it worked. Thanks for looking at this topic. Issue resolved.

    I have entered all of my email settings correctly but when I go to SAVE them it says:
    "Secure Connection Failed"
    "The certificate for [email protected] may be invalid"
    I think I need to mess with the Port or SSL settings. How can I get to the "Advanced Options" before completing the email setup process?

  • Why cannot setup new mail account?

    I am using Google Gmail for e-mail account. Recently my brother changed Internet providers (Windstream) and for some unknown reason my (Apple) mail application stopped working.
    I have reconfigured Gmail to accept IMap instead of POP service. Old previous account shown in my Apple mail service were deleting in order to reset and start everything from scratch. Changed my password in Gmail .. and when I go to Systme Preferences ==> Internet & Wireless ==> Mail, Contacts & Calendars ... entered my full name, e-mail address, and my password ... it just don't accept it ... indicating "unable to verify account name and password"
    I have spent several hours trying to make it work but to no avail ...
    Will appreciate if someone could give me some advise as to what should be done in order to make my Apple E-mail work again.

    Perhaps you were relaying mail through SMTP without authenticating before...?
    In any case, as shown in this page, make sure your Gmail settings are as follows (look at the section in bold at the bottom):

  • Cannot add a new email account, and hence icloud account. When i go into Settings - Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud Settings ghosted (unclickable). Cannot change in itunes also.

    Cannot add a new email account, and hence i have no way of creating an iCloud account (very frustrating). I had the same problem with iOS 4.3 but i had no email account to create as i set both up when i bought the iPhone 4. After adding a company email and a gmail account (both wok perfectly) i noticed that the option to create more email accounts had been ghosted (unclickable). This didn't worry me at the time. However, iCloud needs me to create one in here so i can access the cloud which i desperately want the ability to do. When i go into Settings -> Mail, accounts, calendars,  the option to add a new account cannot be clicked (ghosted). I also have iCloud in the iPhone Settings ghosted (unclickable). I have same problem in itunes on Mac OSX. Surely restoring isn't the solution as i restored my iphone when changing from iOS 4.3 -> 5. Please help?

    Go to
    Settings,
    General,
    Restrictions, type in your Restriction Password,
    Accounts, tick Allow Changes.
    Press the back key a few times till you're back in Settings, you should see iCloud is now highlight able, now go to Mail Contacts and Calenders and add your email account as per norm.

  • Cannot set up new email account

    I have recently started with a new provider. I set up my new email account, however I was not able to send email. After about an hour of remote support I still had not resolved the problem and was told it was an Apple problem. I have tried deleting the account ans starting over several times. I am now unable to send or receive. I keep getting the message "Mail can' connect to the account "  ". It asks for a pass word but this does not resolve the issue. I am not sure what I have done wrong.

    So it turns out that when the tech guy from the ISP was trying to figure it out he had changed my password. He had told me that it was an Apple problem. I was able to get it resolved today. Thanks for replying

    Account? Or just an extra address?
    if you just want an extra address you can add up to three 'email aliases'. These are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.
    You should however be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account, move it to another account, or reactivate it if you delete it.

    If you want to add an extra full account you will need to go to http://appleid.apple.com and create a new Apple ID: you will need another email address to do this - you can't use the one already associated with your current ID.
    Then you can go to System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars and add it there (Lion 10.7.2 minimum required).

    Each sub-account of a MobileMe Family Pack should have been individually migrated to iCloud before August 1st last. Assuming that you didn't do this, you should be able to reactivate the address (though not retrieve its previous contents) by signing in with it in System Preferences>iCloud and enabling Mail - your son should do this on his own Mac or his own user account if he is using your Mac. It's not clear whether he will be able to reactivate the @me.com version or only get an @icloud.com version. (It would be useful to know, when he tries it.)
    If he did migrate the account to iCloud then signing in in the same way should retrieve the contents and the @me.com address should work.
    Alternatively he can just create a new Apple ID (for which he will need a new non-Apple email address) if he doesn't already have one, and sign in with that, enabling Mail and choosing a new @icloud.com address.
    You should note that in none of these cases does his account have anything to do with yours (there is no need for a Family Pack equivalent in iCloud as it's free at basic level).
    You could add an email alias to your account, but it's not a good idea as it will mix his emails up with yours and he won't be able to detach it later.

    I've just installed windows 8.1 on my laptop and now wanting to setup an email account through the control panel but when I get there I click on the Mail (Outlook 2013)(32-bit) nothing happens.  it will not take me to the next screen to let me start

    There are two separate things you can do.
    You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
    You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account, and if it has @mac.com or @me.com versions these cannot be reinstated once deleted.

    You are saying that you have been using that email address for over 10 years. So you are trying to make an address which already somewhere exists?
    That brings me to another thing - is the DNS setup made well? In order to make email address work, you should edit the A-Name & NS. Sometime even more settings (depend on domain registrar).

    Well I found out how to do it. If you already have an ATT account and this is for a second computer then you must register with the primary account as a sub. Follow the instructions and then you should be able to do a new ATT email account.
    I actually did this with a rep on their chat line. It worked.

    Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set.  Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
    This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
    Anyone else think this is not a good thing?

    Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?
    Any security experts care to comment.
