Cannot setup WRE54G ver. 3 expander to network

I had to reset my network this morning due to some weird glitch that caused my whole network to disappear. My router is a WRT310N. I have an SSID (broadcasting) and a password on my router. The problem is I cannot get my expander to connect to the network and it is desperately needed as our signal does not carry through the whole house.
We no longer have the CD for it - not that it worked in the first place. I had to call Linksys to get it setup properly. Can no longer call them as the warrenty is expired and we cannot afford to pay them for tech support.
Resetting the expander has not helped. Pressing the autoconfig button while the network is unsecured and the expander is right under the router gave no results (expander's link light continued to flash red/blue for several minutes and did nothing else). Hooking the expander straight to my computer and then attempting to access the expander's setup page (192.168.1.240) did nothing. Every time I try, it kicks me to a Google search. Again, resetting the expander has not helped this. I know it reset because the lights both turned blue, then the link button turned red. After several reset attempts, I still was unable to access the expander's page.
I am also extremely uneasy setting everything to a static IP. We have 4 computers and 3 - 4 XBox 360s in the house that need the internet at any given moment and from what I know of static IPs, if I do that it will only work on the system I set it up on (someone please correct me if this is wrong) and we have one kid in the house that if he cannot play his games online (God forbid) he'll throw a titanic fit and make the rest of the house miserable.
Can someone please help me? And talk me through this?

Follow the steps below to configure all the settings on WRE54G.
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your Expander, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...
1. Connect your Expander to a computer, click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections - Right click on the icon for Local area connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the following IP address'- Provide IP Address - 192.168.1.5, Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0...Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...
2. Now open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.240. Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...It should open your Expander set-up...
3. Once you get to the set-up page you can follow this link to change the Expander Settings...
NOTE : The link also explains to check the Wireless Settings on your Router...
4. While changing the Expander settings you have to make sure that the Wireless Settings(SSID/Network Name and WEP/WPA Key) are identical on both the devices(Router and Expander)...Also make sure to change the Expander's default IP to match your network and Gateway Address should be your Router's address...ex.Expander's IP Address : 192.168.1.240(assuming your router's default IP Address is 192.168.1.1),Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1...
5. After configuring the Expander you should disconnect it from the Computer and go into Local Area Connection TCP/IP Properties and set it back to Obtain IP Address Automatically...Disconnect the Expander from the computer and power cycle both the devices(Expander and Router) ...Your Expander should be configured...
In case if you don't get the Expander set-up just leave it connected to your computer and reset it for 30 seconds and follow Step 2, Step 3, Step 4 & Step 5...
Hope this helps.

  • ISE cannot push the profile to the cisco network setup assistant?

We have tried a few android devices with version 4.2+ but still got the error message ‘Unable to download profile.(Have you logged into the guest portal?)’ as shown at the bottom picture.
In fact, we are connecting the devices to an open SSID which performs MAC filtering, then redirect to CWA and login with AD credentials,
then redirect to Google play store and can successfully download the network setup assistant.
Could you please advise the possible reasons that would cause this error message and make ISE cannot push the profile to the cisco network setup assistant?

Here's a snipit from the Android spw.log.  I see that there is an error trying to verify the hostname.  Is it possible that this is caused by a non-trusted certificate?  I'm using the self-signed cert built into ISE.  I have an entry in the public DNS for guest.domain.com that resolves to the IP of my ISE server accessible from the guest subnet.  I'm allowing all traffic from the guest VLAN to the ISE vlan on the firewall and all traffic to/from the ISE server in the provisioning ACL I have applied by ISE on the WLC during native supplicant provisioning.  I know that guests can communicate with the ISE server since regular guest portal redirection works, just not the network setup assistant.  I've renamed the domain to domain.com in this snipit.

  • Can I use an Aexp to wirelessly expand my network to another Aexp?

I have a cable DSL coming in to my first Airport Express, works great,I tried to hook up a 2nd AExp upstairs to expand my network. Can't get it to work,My macbook will find 1 or the other, but not both,is it possible? Do I need an A.E.BS at my modem? Is this the only fix?

Here is how I recommend that you setup your AirPort Expresses. You will want to assign separate base station or device names to each device in order to help identify them. Airport Utility > Manual Setup > Base Station tab below the icons.
I will call the AX connected to your modem AX1 and the remote device AX2.
    _For AX1:_
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode is "Create a wireless network"
Wireless Network Name - Your choice
Make sure you have a check mark next to "Allow this network to be extended"
    Radio Mode - 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible)
    Channel - Automatic
    Security - WPA/WPA2 Personal
    Password - your password
    Update to save any changes
    _For AX2:_
Open AirPort Utility, click Manual Setup
    Click the Wireless tab
Wireless Mode is "Extend a wireless network". If you do not see this as a choice, hold down the "option" key on your computer when you click the selection box.
Wireless Network Name - Same as AX1. The name of AX1's network should appear as a choice here
Make sure you have a check mark next to "Allow wireless clients"
Wireless Security - Exact same setting as AX1
Password - Exact same setting as AX1
    Update to save settings.
You cannot select 802.11n only on the AX2. Even if you could, having any other b/g devices on the network would still bring the speed down.
Please post back on your progress.

  • Expanding a network with Airport Extreme

I’m trying to extend (or bridge?) my network using my Airport Extreme. My roommate has the modem hooked up to his router and I think it’s a Linksys router. I have an airport card installed in my G4 desktop and I get a decent signal. The reason I want to hook up the Airport extreme is so I can share hard drives and printer with my Macbook Pro I just purchased. I get a fine signal with the Macbook Pro from my roommate’s router as well. The problem is trying to set up the Airport Extreme so I can access the hard drives and printer. I haven’t seen much on using Airport Extreme to expand a network. I was also thinking about running an Ethernet to the desktop from the Airport since it would be faster than the old Airport card I have installed which I believe is only “B”. I would then like to use Back to Mac to access the desktop from anywhere but that is a later issue until I get the airport extreme setup. Any suggestions on how I can extend the network so I can do this. Thanks.
    James

The only way to do this is by using WDS. Most Linksys devices are not compatible with Apple's WDS but some are. The Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not latest versions v5) are known to be.
You would need to configure the Linksys and the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to link together using WDS.
One side effect of WDS is that the wireless bandwidth will be cut in half.

  • Cannot setup e-mail on ipad2 accepts account but will not send mail ?

cannot setup e-mail on ipad2 accepts account but will place messages in out box and not send ?

It could be that your ISP wants you to use a specific outgoing mail server. Check with your ISP. Sometimes they will only allow you to use their outgoing mail server when you're on their network and not your own. For example, if you use Optimum Online they may only let you use mail.optonline.com for outgoing so you couldn't use mail.yourdomain.com.
They do this to cut down on people sending spam from their networks.

  • Airport Express cannot setup, Error -6753

My Wifi Router is CISCO Linksys E1000
Purpose: I'd like to setup the Airport Express as Receiver/Repeater to boost up my Linksys WiFi range
    Pre-installation:
    a, reset to factory default
b, connect to Apple Network XXXXX access point (which is belong to my Airport Express)
c, I can see the detail of my APE over Airport Utility...
1, after enter my base station name and etc... then I choose "Expand my network"
2, Choose my home Access Points
    3, Enter the p/w
4, when I trying to click on "Update"
First.. it's disconnected my from "Apple Network XXXXX" which is make sense I guess
Second.. it's connect me to my house Access Point but after that the error message of "-6753 xxxxx....." appear.
And I can't get any info over Airport Utility, always show me button of "Rescan".
If I setup my Airport Express "Join to the network" then its work but this didnt serve my purpose of bought this AirPort Express.
Anyone can help? I almost want to sell this out... Is it Airport Express (Apple product) can't sync well with my Cisco router?
I'm very dissapointed as this is first time I buy Apple Accessories after iPhone and iPad...
    Appreciate your help..

    Bob,
My MacPro does not have a wireless card. I use the Airport Extreme for wireless communications. I had hoped to use the Airport Express to access iTunes (Airplay?) to work on powered speakers. For reasons that I don't understand, the Airport Utility recognizes the added Airport Express but I have not been able to configure it without the (-6753) error coming up. I did reset the Airport Express but still no luck. The utility also will not download the updated firmware to 7.5.2. From what I have read on other posts, this is not critical but I'm stymied as to how to configure it. I have to use the cable connection as I do not have a wireless card. I hope this helps and thank you for your response!

  • E72 - cannot setup email using WLAN

    Hi,
I cannot setup any email account using a WLAN connection. It keeps directing me to the network connection. Is there a way around this?

I've faced the same problem and it is annoying!
I couldn't set up my emails through my WLAN connection. I have always a WLAN access point(in home and in my campus). I don't need any GPRS(or say 3G) connection but just for that problem i purchased a weekly connection package. I checked the priority settings but I couldnt. Nokia should take an action about this

One route would be to utilize a "roaming" network. In a roaming network, you would connect multiple AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS) to the same Ethernet. Of course, this would require that your home is already wired for Ethernet.

How to restart base station from airport utility? I used to be able to do it remotely
I currently use a Mac Pro 10.8.4 and have a time machine for wireless 6.3 (630.34). Sometimes I cannot connect to the internet and use network preferences to diagnose the issue. This results in being told to restart the wireless. The airport utility includes the drop down option of restarting but is not clickable so I can't choose it.
With my prior macbook and same time capsule, etc  if i had problems connecting to the internet I would run network diagnostics to help out. This included clicking on the airport utility ---> base station --> restart. This worked most of the time.
Bottom line, is there something I am missing in not being able to restart the wi-fi remotely? ]
    Thanks in advance

You are likely forgetting a step.
    Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit in the small window that appears
Now click the Base Station menu.....top of the screen....not the Base Station "tab" in the center of the screen
    Click Restart

See if the iPad will accept the password after you restart it. It's worth a try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try a reset as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • DAG 2010 Cluster IP address resource 'Cluster IP Address' cannot be brought online because the cluster network replication

    Hello,
DAG Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6 with MAPI network and Replication network. All works correctly.
But, when the DAG member restarts , the cluster goes offline and i can't bring it online.
    The message error:
Cluster IP address resource 'Cluster IP Address' cannot be brought online because the cluster network 'Cluster Network 1' is not configured to allow client access.
Cluster Network 1 is the replication network and it is normal that allow client access is unchecked
I already tried to check, apply then uncheck apply. it does anything.
Could you please help me to figure out the issue ?
    Best regards

    Hi,
    Check below link.
    http://forums.msexchange.org/Cluster_network_name_is_not_online/m_1800552315/tm.htm
I was able to resolve the issue without taking down any resources.
First, I noticed that the Failover Cluster Manager "Cluster Name" had the IP address of the replication network only..
After going back through the guide @
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638104.aspx I changed the properties on the NICs for file sharing, etc..I then adjusted windows firewall rules to block traffic from my MAPI network destined for the replication network.
I then removed the IP from the replication network on the DAG leaving only the 1 MAPI network IP.
After an hour or so, I ran Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroupNetwork and seen that the MAPIAccess property was finally set to true on my MAPI network. I went back to Failover Cluster Manager and my Cluster Core Resource Cluster Name dropped the IP address that was
associated (IP from the replication network) I added a new IP from my Mapi network range, updated the DAG IP in Exchange and the DNS record for the DAG and my cluster resource came online.

    See
iOS 5: Updating your device to iOS 5 or Later

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update.
