Cannot share library in itunes

Cannot share Itunes library after switching from ATT 2Wire router/modem to Comcast Xfinity Internet service (Arris TG862G router/modem). Can connect to and use internet, watch DirectTV on all apple devices (below) with no problems. Despite Home Sharing being turned on in Itunes, library not listed as a "shared library" in sidebar. All devices have been verified under Music:Settings to have correct Apple ID and password.

All devices, desktop and router have been reset with Home Sharing off. Upon turn Home Sharing on (and not clicking "Done"), I can see Home Sharing listed in Sidebar, but my Itunes Library Share is not shown or available.
Any advice appreciated.

Fantastic, your information was spot on. I was able to disconnect from the old primary library and then recreate my new Mac as the new primary library as I was wanting to do.

ITunes 7.0.1, Still cannot share library

Even with the latest update, I still cannot share my library between my Windows PC and my PowerPC iBook. I've never had a problem with this before on previous versions of iTunes before the nightmare that is iTunes 7.
I have turned off all firewalls including the built in Windows firewall (it was off anyway) and I still get the firewall error message. The Windows version gives me a variety of error codes. The PowerPC version just tells me I need to open the non-existant firewall to port:_. It lists no port number.
(OH, and BTW the first thing my Mac did after installing the new "stability" update 7.0.1 was to CRASH iTunes)
I am using an Airport Express for this....do I need to do something special in my Airport setup?
Anyone fixed this issue?

This is a problem that Apple is not addressing. There are several discussion threads on this. My sharing, like yours, worked perfectly with Itunes 6 and stopped as soon as I upgraded to 7. Version 7.0.1 does not fix the problem. I have turned off the Windows firewall on both machines and still get that error message. For some reason, we are not on Apple's radar. Cannot share library... "must deauthorize other computer". I don't have another computer to deauthorize?

I recently replaced my Dell desktop, wherre I had originally downloaded my itunes. Purchased a Mac book and authorized to share music... no problem. Just downloaded itunes onto new dell (which holds the main itunes library) and attempted to 'share' library with another home laptop computer but get a message that says 'five computers authorized, must deauthorize computer'. Problem is, I no longer have the original dell to deauthorize and I just have another authorization on the mac book.
How can I deauthorize a computer I no longer have?

Does anyone know: Is it possible for two users on the same computer to "SHARE" the same iTunes Library so you don't have to duplicate libraries on the hard disk?
So far I have been having to load 25GB of Music on my wife's account and the same 25GB itunes library on my account.
I have put the single iTunes files in the "PUBLIC" music folder and set that as the default on the ITUNES "Preferences" but still does not work for some reason.

Yes sir, did that but it still has the same problem.
Now when I go to my wife's account (everything identical , playlists, etc. in both accounts) it does not know where to locate the songs. I place it in the default and it works, but as soon as I go back to the other persons account, the default has automatically changed back, and none of the playlists (although still intact) have again lost the location of the actual music (located on in the Public Music folder) very frustrating.
It would seem to be simple.

Can I share my iphone music library with itunes?

I currently have several apple TV's, music librarys, airport speakers and everything works fine with sharing the way I have it set up.
There are two issues that i would just like to confirm -
1 - I would like to share my iphone library with itunes and have it show up under "shared" it doesnt seem to be possible. I understand that i can play all my shared itunes libraries on my iphone but dont seem to be able to share the music that is on the phone itself.
2 - I seem to only be able to select one airport express speaker set when i am playing music on my iphone. Multiple speakers seem to NOT be an option on the iphone.

Copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one using one of the methods discussed here: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer. If you no longer have the old computer and you have to transfer it from your phone, you will have to purchase and use third-party software to extract the music from your phone, such as Touch Copy or CopyTrans.

My sis and I share the same library for iTunes but when she tries to uncheck my songs and syncs hers, my songs are synced to her iPod still making her delete my songs. What can she do?

So my sis and I share the same iTunes library on the comp, and when ever she wants to sync her music, she unchecks all my songs. But once she unchecked my songs and syncs hers onto her iPod, my songs are there still. We've unchecked all my songs manually but my songs still sync onto her iPod. Simplest way is to create a New User Account for each of you...
Each user will then have their own iTunes library.

Now: I can see my iTunes library via AppleTV, and access it via the remote control.
Now: I can use the Remote App on my iPad to access my iTunes library, and control the library on my PC but not on AppleTV
Still, when playing a song on iTunes - either directly on the PC or via the iPad, when I select the AppleTV speakers - nothing. When I select 'multiple' speakers I don't get anything through the AppleTV speakers.
The AppleTV is connected to a Denon AVR (if this matters).

I created a new itunes library on my PC by following the proper procedure. (shift - open itunes-create library). But now i cannot find my old itunes library, so that I can open it. I know my music has not been lost but I cannot acces it. When I open itunes by holding down the shift, it does not show any designation for my old libray. help please.

The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device. Did you copy the iTunes folder from the old Mac?

Itunes and NAS..."cannot find library"?

I have a Mac Pro and a Macbook Pro, each connecting over the network at home to my NAS. My NAS is not running any iTunes server; instead, I have an iTunes folder (called "music") on the NAS that is shared to the network, and I've set up my iTunes clients to point to that folder as the location for their iTunes library and iTunes media.
This all works great...when it works. However, I'll often start iTunes and get the message, "Your iTunes Library cannot be found--please specify the location of your iTunes library." I then get a dialog box, where I go to my NAS, select the proper shared folder, click the Library file, and everything works again. I never have to specify the media location; just the library. Then I'll play around with iTunes for a while, listen to music, close iTunes...and the next time I start it up I get the same message. This happens no matter whether I run iTunes on my Mac Pro or my Macbook Pro.
I have the "music" folder set as one of my login items on each computer, and it mounts without a problem. However, what seems to be causing the problem (as far as I can tell) is that the computers don't have a persistent connection with the NAS. In other words, I'll go into Finder, click on the NAS name in the sidebar, I'll see "Connecting....", and then after a short delay it will connect. But then when I start iTunes, it'll still say "Your iTunes Library cannot be found, etc etc...."
Anyone have any ideas on how to force iTunes to go look in the proper shared folder on the NAS for its Library file?
