Cannot Shutdown OC4J on Windows 2000 Pro

I have just upgraded my networks OS from Windows NT4 to Windows 2000 Pro.
We are using 9iDS R2 and since the upgrade the Shortcuts to Shutdown OC4J have stopped working. Is this a common side effect of the OS upgrade? What is the solution?
Thanks

Put the 'pause' command at the end of stopinst.bat, so you can at least see the error message before the command window closes.
If it is 'invalid password', than run originst.bat before starting OC4J again.

When I use Firefox the images and logos don't show up clearly/correctly. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. and just installed Firefox 3.6.6. I'm sure I have the right graphics driver as I'm able to see the images and logos clearly in Internet Explorer. I only have the "default plugin 1.0.0.15" installed. I'm thinking that I'm missing a plugin or add-on of some sort, but I'm not sure which one(s). When I go to "updates" it says there were no updates available. When I go to "Add-ons" it gives a list of Add-ons but I'm not sure which would help my issue. Any help would be appreciated.:)

  • Home Workgroup with Windows 2000 Pro

Windows 7, Build 7100 with home workgroup. XP computers browse and files no problem both ways. To Windows 2000 Pro, failure with Username and Password required and nothing accepted. Facts: Can ping the 2000 computer; can see and browse to the 7 computer; workgroup name is the same on all computers; username and password is the same on all computers. Something not right on the Windows 7 computer or the Windows 2000 computer?

I'm assuming that you're getting the "unknown user name or bad password" message in response to a logon prompt.
OK, I can't find the thread where I was posting while chasing this, but I do remember a couple of the important points:
    1. All the usual things, which I believe you've already covered. One thing that happened to me during my troubleshooting was that W7, for some unknown reason, reset the workgroup name back from my actual workgroup name (which is, of course, the same across all computers) to its default 'WORKGROUP'. It only happened once, but it made me paranoid about re-confirming it often.
    2. The date on my win2k system was off by ~ a week from the date of the W7 system (I'd been doing some other tests and forgotten to reset it). Correcting that made a subtle difference to the "unknown user name or bad password" error, and I didn't notice it at first. But I assume that your dates/times are synchronized. I have sice seen a statement that the times have to be within ~24 hours, but I don't know the truth or otherwise of that.
    3. IIRC, the clincher was that it is necessary, but not sufficient, to have the same usernames with the same passwords on both the w2k and W7 systems. I had to be logged in to both systems with the same username/passwords at the same time. Then when I tried to access the w2k system from the W7 (or was it the other way around? I forget.) I was once again asked for a username and password which I supplied (for what seemed like the 1000th time!), and lo and behold, it was accepted. And I have never been asked again!
I have 2 win2k systems and a W7 wired to a Linksys router which also connects a Vista laptop and two XP laptops by wireless. Everyone can see and access the other without problems. Virtual machines (in VirtualBox on the W7 system) also show up and can be accessed.
But it drove me crazy in the beginning.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot shutdown OC4J after error on servlet

    Hi
    I've deployed an EJB to the OC4J contaniner. Created a servlet that access the container and deployed it to the OC4J. Because the two components don't reside on the same application the servlet cannot access the Home Interface Class of the EJB and generates an error. After this error I cannot shutdown OC4J using the admin.jar with shutdown nor shuwdown force. }
I'm using JDeveloper9i RC with the container that comes with it.

    Hi Nestor,
I don't know if this will help you, but a similar problem was
discussed in a separate forum on OC4J. Go to
    http://www.elephantwalker.com
Search for a thread with a title something like "JSP on machine A
looking up application on machine B".
Hopefully the ElephantWalker himself will see this and supply you
with more detailed information regarding the relevant thread.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Is the JDK (1.2.2) compatible with Windows 2000 Pro?

    Hi Friends!,
It seems that the JDK - Version: 1.2.2 - is not
compatible with Windows 2000 Pro. I know
how to configure the kit in this operating system
even if I'am not able to understand the reason for which
I receive the error in the Command Prompt window - the JAVAC
    utility says:
    "Can't read: BigDebt.java - 1 error".
I have added the following command line from
    the System Control Panel->System->Environment->System Variables:
    C:\jdk1.2.2\bin ( where I have installed the kit ).
I also have added the CLASSPATH command line there:
set CLASSPATH=.;C:\jdk1.2.2\lib\tools.jar but the problem persists
and I'am unable to create the BigDebt.class file.
To avoid another nervous wreck please send me the instructions
to configure correctly the JDK (1.2.2) for Windows 2000 Pro.
    Thanks.
    Julian Jerman - from Italy.

when you runs the java compiler like this
    javac BigDebt.java
You need to be in the directory of your BigDebt.java file located.
BTW, it is kind of weird that your java file is saved to System32 directory, there is no benefit doing that.

    Hi Guys,
I have a client running Windows 2000 Pro (old habits die hard) and she just purchased the 8520.  Upon putting the supplied disk in to install everything (Desktops, drivers, etc.) I get the error stating it needs a minimun of XP to run.  Can I go back to a previous version of the desktop manager and grab the drivers for the 8520 to make this work?  Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Interfacing of RS232 serial devices through USB ports within LabVIEW 6.1 and Windows 2000 Pro?

I have a data acqusition requirement of using 5 RS232 devices, but the motherboard i use only has two serial ports. However, it does have 4 USB ports. Does anyone know if it is possible to use these USB ports to input data from an RS232 device through a serial to USB converter?
Does LabVIEW 6.1 support this under Windows 2000 Pro?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fraser

    Hi Fraser,
I just moved an app to a new laptop and had to use a USB to serial comm adapter. At first try the app did not find the comm port.
After sleeping on it, we downlaoded the most up-to-date driver for the device and upgraded VISA to the latest and gretest version.
    Everything worked fine after that.

  • Problem with oracle 8i installation on windows 2000 pro

    Hi all
i'm installing oracle 8i enterprize edition on windows 2000 professional.
At the end of the installation,in the configuration tools step when it says that
the following tools will be automatically started for you etc...
the oracle database configuration assistant keep failing and i get the following message in the text file dbSilentCreate
< 8I\starterdb is an invalid command line argument. >
what should i do? anyone familiar with this problem ?
    Constancio

This should be a workaround for your problem. Let me know if it works or not.
    1. Create a temporary directory on your server.
    2. Copy the contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1.
    3. Search the directory structure created in step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll.
    4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.
    5. Run the setup.exe from the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x.
