Cannot sign fillable pdf

I've scoured the forums and the web looking for help with this - hopefully someone can assist.  A colleague created a fillable PDF with Acrobat X Pro (trial version).  It has a number of fields and a signature box, but when I try and fill it in with Reader 10.1.2 it won't let me sign or save info.
Thing is, when I look at the security settings under document properties on the machine it was created on, all the options are listed as "allowed."  However when I do likelwise on my computer with Adobe Reader,  it tells me Document Assembly, Commenting, Signning, and Creation of template pages are NOT allowed.  We've tried looking at it on a few different computers (I don't know what versions or apps were used) but on two of my computers, both with the same version of Reader it tells me I can't sign it.  If I click on the signature box nothing happens.  If I click on the "Sign" option at the top right, it tells me the security settings prevetn adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader.
Can anyone tell me why it might be signable/savable on some machines but not on others?  Many thanks!
I am running Windows 7 Professional v 6.1

The document needs to be Reader-enabled. This allows Reader to do certain things it normally is not able to do, such as saving a filled-in form and signing a digital signature field. To do this in Acrobat 10, select: File > Save As > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Additional Features

  • Cannot sign a pdf document

All sign options are greyed out and not links:
How can I sign this? I need to do so ASAP as it is an application form so any prompt help would be brilliant, thanks.

This form contains unsigned signature field that needs to be signed with certificates. Click on the red arrow (or choose "Work with Certificates") for that. You cannot sign with e-Signature PDFs that have signature fields. You need to have a signing credential in order to be able to sign this PDF.

  • Cannot sign pdf form

I create a pdf form from word to a pdf fillable form.  I can sign this form.  After I save the form as reader extended pdf form.  I cannot sign the form.  How can I fix the problem?

When you say "sign", do you mean digitally sign or add an e-signature, which can be a hand-drawn signature? If a document is Reader-enabled, the EchoSign e-signature functionality is not available, but it does allow digital signatures if enabled with Acrobat Pro, as opposed to Standard.

  • Fillable PDF cannot be saved

Hi there.  I'm using LiveCycel designer ES to create several fillable pdfs and save the fillable pdfs as static forms.  I use acrobat X pro to enable reader extension in order for the users to type in data and save the form, however, the fillable pdf just cannot save the inputted data except the data inputted in the first field.  What did I miss?
    Thanks

    Hi Pguerett,
Thanks for your reply.  It's exactly what you think. The fields are, except the first field, all set to be no data binding.  I reset them to the field names and they are new can be saved.  Thanks a lot.  By the way, I want to have one of the titles to be deleted by the user.  I tried to use checkboxed (set to cross) to do the same but the highlight colour makes them "clouded" and the visual effect is not good.  Any better ideas?

  • Since installing Reader DC we can no longer "sign" a fillable PDF

Since installing Reader DC we can no longer "sign" a fillable PDF that we could sign in Reader XI.  We see the "You have opened a fillable PDF form. This form does not let you drag and drop saved information" message.  This seems like a standard feature that many organizations use. Is this going to be fixed? or work around suggested? Please advise.

I too am having the same issue.
I am also experiencing this on the trial version of the Adobe Reader Pro.
I get the same message as glennthorpe , and I am unable to follow the instructions listed here; none of the tools are populating for me when I click on what appears to be a "signable" box.

  • I cannot e sign a pdf form

I am logged into my adobe acct so it isnt a question about forgotten passwords-however I cannot e sign a pdf form, why?

I saw the response below on another post and wonder if this will resolve your issue too.  Good luck.
The error in Adobe's programming on this page for some users is that what is addressed above is that you cannot enter a password because there is only ONE place that appears....there isn't two visible places that the user can match.
To get around this, first enter your password in the box you can see (first box).  Then the work around is that you enter the TAB KEY.  This will put you into the next box (that you can't see) and you will re-type your password blindly.  Make sure that you are typing it in exactly as the first as you are typing in the proverbial ether.   Hit the 'accept' button (or enter or whatever the OK button is for the page--sorry, i don't have the exact reference in front of me--but i think this part is self-explanatory) that you can see.  Hope this helps.

  • Why do some people get "you cannot save data typed into this form" using FormsCentral fillable PDF?

Hello.  We're using FormsCentral extensively.  We create the fillable PDF and send it to about 80 people.  Each of them is adding content and saving and then passing on to another person for further content.  Ultimately, all parties are happy with the content and submit.  The problem is that some of the people open the PDF and get the message ""you cannot save data typed into this form".  What is causing this?  Please help as it is causing us many problems.

Thanks for the quick response.  We distribute the form to 80 people who fill it out and create 80 versions.  They then pass the form to one other person who edits.  All 80 forms, once complete, are submitted to FormsCentral.
I think the problem is with Mac users.  Is there anything unusual about the Mac with Adobe Reader?  If you provide your email address, I can send you one of the filled out forms that is having this issue.  It's quite odd in that the fillable fields don't show up until clicked on and the form is not saveable.
    Thanks!

  • Saving a fillable PDF so that others cannot edit it

    Hi,
I'm relatively new to using Adobe Acrobat pro, However i recently made a fillable PDF that i need to be able to fill out, then send to clients who can view it, print it but not edit it. Please can anyone advise me how to save the PDF once it has been filled in so others can see the information, but not change anything.
I use Mac if this makes a difference.
    Many Thanks
    Tom

In Acrobat X, first use Save A Copy on the file menu to remove the Reader extensions*, then you can flatten the form using a script or extension (e.g. I've got a free one here) - alternatively you run Tools > Protection > Remove Hidden Information and tick only the form fields box.
*You will need to manually open the copy you saved, it doesn't automatically update in Acrobat.
If you're not bothered about accessibility, you can also print the PDF back to PDF - a process we call refrying - which will flatten everything and remove scripts, metadata, calculations and hidden content (but in the process removes all your tags and structure).

  • Fillable PDF that emails submission as uneditable/flattened

I need to be able to create a fillable PDF that once submitted, will email a uneditable/flattened version to a given email address.  I currently have Acrobat 9 Pro. The PDF that is emailed after someone submits can be edited/altered. I need to remove this. Do I need to upgrade software to be able to do this?  If so, please recommend what products I need to be looking at.

You cannot flatten the file after it has been emailed since the user probably has Adobe Reader which cannot flatten files. You can write a script to lock fields. You have have the document signed and set to disallow changes. But that is the extent of your capabilities.

  • Any ideas on how we could get any sort of shop stamp or other identifying mark onto our fillable pdf on an ipad.

I am looking for any ideas on how we could get any sort of shop stamp or other identifying mark onto our fillable pdf on an ipad.
The scenario is that when we do a job as opposed to our regular contract work, at a large nationwide retailer, their accounts people want the shop's stamp, as proof of the work being done.
Currently the 'paper' service report is just stamped. For the regular contract work, whoever signs the service report just uses their finger to sign the report, on the iPad.
On a PC the shop could just set up an electronic signature as their 'shop stamp', but the iPad is another story.
I am having a vision of ink stamps all over the iPad screen. LoL
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Unlike the desktop version of Adobe Reader, Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support stamp annotations yet.
If you'd like, you can submit the Feature Request form.  The Product Management team will take your request into consideration for a future release of Adobe Reader for iOS.
    Thank you for the feedback!

  • Allow user to fill in a fillable pdf but disallow adding comments and annotation

Hi there.  I have a fillable pdf created by livecycle designer.  I want to let users fill in the form but prevant them adding comments and annotatons to the form.  I cannot reset the above requirements in form property - form security if I have already set a password and allowed user to fill in the form.  Can I user javascript to that effect during the document loading?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you save the form as a Dynamic XML Form in the save-as dialogue, then the user will not be able to apply comments. They can only do this in flat or static PDF forms.

  • How to sign a pdf file and save it directly back to sharepoint site?

    Hello,
I own a Sharepoint site for testing. It is installed in my computer with Sharepoint 2010 (WSS). What I want to do is to find a way to achieve a signing function for pdf file type on sharepoint.
By refer to this site below, the site has been able to recognize pdf file type and open it and edit it directly on the sharepoint site.
    http://www.portalsolutions.net/Blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40
I can edit the pdf file by checking out and then the modification will be save directly back to the pdf file in the shared document library when I am done. Now the problem is, I cannot save the pdf directly back to sharepoint after I inserted a digital signature
    to the pdf file.
Everytime I inserted a digital signature to the pdf file, a "save as..." window would pop up and asked me to save the signed pdf file as another file in my local computer, so the changes were not applied to the original pdf file on the shared document library
of my sharepoint site. I have to upload the local signed version back to the site and replace the old one manually.
    Any suggestion? Thank you.

    Hi,
According to my analysis, for Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. Now, when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file
is already checked out. If not, the user will be prompted to check it out. When digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file in Acrobat X, Version 10.0, the user would be prompted to save that file locally and would then need to upload it separately to SharePoint
    as a new version.
I suggest that you use Acrobat X, then check the result. For more information about Acrobat X, please refer to
    http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfitmatters/2011/06/whats-new-in-acrobat-x-version-10-1.html
In addition, you can also consider the following third-party tool:
