When I try to sign in for iCloud with my Apple ID and password on Internet Explorer (Windows 8.1) I get an error message saying that cannot connect to server.

I have the same problem using Internet Explorer so I tried to login on my mom's laptop and IE asked for permission to install an ActiveX control so I did and it worked fine. The IE on my laptop will not ask for the ActiveX so I use Safari and I can login with no problem.

All you can do is re-use one of the accounts previously created, or create a new account to use on another iOS device or Mac (running OS X 10.7.2 or later), if you have one.

A similar issue has existed in Windows 8 and a patch was issued.

However, in Firefox (or IE in Windows 8 or 7) it may open without any issue.

Unfortunately, OSX 10.6.8 will not support iCloud. You can use the mail address from the iCloud account with Snow Leopard bot not the rest of the iCloud features. You can access then via the web browser though at iCloud.com.
To set up iCloud mail.
Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.
Some users have apparently encountered issues using this information in pre-Lion set ups (I haven't), Roger Wilmut has kindly provided instructions for those who find themselves with this problem.

I am working on a application that uses SSL. But when the clicks a button to donwload a file using IE 6 or IE 7, internet explorer shows a error message saying that "The internet explorer cannot open this site". This error dont occur in Firefox, but i have to use Internet Explorer. And the error occurs only if i use https, with http it works fine.
I search the net and i found that internet explorer has a bug, that when the server sends the http header "Pragma: no-cache" or "Cache-control: no-cache,max-age=0,must-revalidate", then the internet explorer doesnt cache the file, and i cannot open it. I don't have a solution fou you, just a few ideas =)
You can check what headers response contains with
response.containsHeader( "your_header_here");
http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.2.1/techdocs/api/javax/servlet/http/HttpServletResponse.html#containsHeader(java.lang.String)
after that you could set/overwrite those headers that you don't like with, for example:
response.setHeader("Cache-control", "no-cache,max-age=0,must-revalidate");
Aparently Pragma and Cache-control headers should be used in pair, as noted here

I'm a bit sceptical about you needing to cache the file, but if you feel strong about it, you could read this

If you're working on SSL there is supposed to be some kind of validation, certificate or something like that. IE6 and 7 both have strong security measures in these regards. Maybe you should look something up in that direction.

and saying no to firefox then firefox would open. Now I cannot open firefox at all

Cannot view quicktime media in Internet Explorer on Windows 7 without admin rights

I have several workstations that are all running Windows 7 64bit with IE 9, fully patched, and Quicktime 7.76.80.95. I cannot get streamed quicktime media to open in the quicktime plugin unless I right-click and start IE as admin.
I have googled this issue and found references to mentions of this issue, but nothing that seems to resolve it. Instead of playing the media, it shows the question mark over the quicktime logo. If IE is started as admin, it works. I tried the script mentioned in this posting Quicktime problem and it does not fix the issue in this case.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi dwaynelewis, IE 9 is over 3 years old so it appears the computer is not, so called, fully patched? Windows 7 updates from Microsoft will install IE 11.
This seems to be a permissions issue. What user accounts have administrator permissions with full control? For Internet Explorer and QuickTime? The one that is initially being used to log on with, appears to not.

Firefox cannot display my bigpond emails, internet explorer displays them ok

Firefox displays my bigpond logged-in site then when i select my email web-page thepage is displayed but no emails.
When i do the same with internet explorer the email page is displayed correctly.
This problem has only occured recently. Firefox performed the task perfectly until a few days ago. Makes me wonder if automatic windows updates could have anything to do with it.

Cannot sign in iCloud

I had trouble signing into iCloud on my PC. I upgraded iTunes and upgraded iCloud control panel to version 4. When I try to sign in "spinning" icon beside the "sign In" just keeps spinning.

Where did you get the iPhone from?
You can only create 3 iCloud ID max on the iPhone.
You need to create new one using iTunes and then use that.
