Cannot SMB to Win Server2008
We have three Win servers, Server 2000, Server 2003 and now one Server 2008.
Earlier with 10.5 we could use finder to connect file shares on all three servers, after 10.6.1 no mac (we have four on our network all 10.6.1) can connect to server 2008, but 2003 and 2000 works fine.
Have searched all internet and tried most things like numerical password, :139 , domain and more. And no mac can connect to 2008, my server specialist did fix something about encryption but no difference, if I use Forklift I can see the shares on server 2008 but not with finder, very annoying.
there are definitely issues with smb and Windows 2008, we've had issues printing for the same reason, was fine on everything with 10.5, but with 10.6.1 won't work with 2008 Servers

I have set up a print queue for HP CP5225dn on Win Server2008 R2 on a shared domain . When I install a print driver on Mac 10.7.2 Lion it sometimes ask for a 'user name & password' for the printer which has not been set by us on the printer.
Second issue I don't know how it reached to the point that I was able to send the job through but as soon as it starts to connect to the printer 'it turns the status to printer paused' or can't connect to the printer.
Printer works well on 'Bonjour' printing so I don't have any doubts on the printer driver. But HP doesn't have the drivers for CP5225dn for Lion 10.7.2.
I have to configure the printer via the queue. Please advise any workarounds.

YezdiThis easy to follow procedure (5 web pages with screen shots) worked for MacBook Pro 10.6.8 via Wireless-N to Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64 using USB Cable to HP Officejet 7210 All-in-One. This configuration had worked with Windows XP.

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

I cannot get my passport to connect to eather of my PC's, one is running Win 7 Pro 64bit, and one is running Win 7 pro 32bit. both pc's give me the same driver error-"device driver software was not successfully installed" i have latest versions of Link and Blend installed on the pc's, and 10.3.0.908 on my pasport madel SQW100-1
same issue here for a z2, only windows 7 pro on virtualbox in ubuntu (linux)

whats the point in a exceptional good phone with poor support??
if this poor service continues, this would be definatly my last sony device..

Cannot install on Win 7 32-bit
I canno install CAptivate 5 on my
new computer, running Win7 32-bit. I receive an exit code 7. I have tried the solutions sugge

Cannot smb to Windows 2000 Server share (works in 10.4)
After installing a fresh copy of Leopard on my macbook pro I cannot connect to a previously working share on a Windows 2000 Server using smb. I am using Go > Connect to Server to connect.
I am prompted for a username and password but the connection fails with Error code -43.
Here is my Console info.

Below is what was posted...
Open Terminal.app from /Applications/Utilities and then enther the following:
mkdir myshare #(do this only the first time)
mount -t smbfs //[email protected]/sharename myshare
When you work this way you should unmount the share before you log out, shutdown or put the computer to sleep. To do this, open the Termina.app and enter:
umount myshare
The mounted share is now in your home. -

MAC X 10.5.4 cannot connect to WIN XP pro
Seems like i'm not the only one with this problem.
I'm trying to connect from mac X 10.5.4 to WIN XP pro machine.
I've tried all the obvious:
- I have a guest account
- I have other accounts with passwords on all (this in the WIN machine).
- I am absolutely sure I've typed the usernames and passwords correctly.
- I even switched away from "simple share" on windows.
- I made sure the sharing is correct on WIN.
- I turned off any firewalls on the WIN machine
- I can get on line from both machines
- I can connect to another WIN machine from my WIN machine
I can ping the machine from my mac but cannot connect.
I get either error messages about no permissions, or cannot log in, or cannot mount the drive. I've tried every which way possible. Logging under my account in WIN or as a guest.
Before 10.5.2 (I think that's what caused the problem) I had no problem
whatsoever connecting. Now nothing works.
Help greatly appreciated thxWindows security is broken up into two parts. Local permissions, and net permissions. You must set both in order to allow access. Simply setting up the share doesn't grant the user access to it.
You must define the share on the Share tab, and then go to the 'Security' tab and add whatever account the user will be using to access the folder and its associated files.
Make sure that the files in whatever folder your sharing pick up the inheritence of the parent folder permissions by checking the security on a few files in the folder and verify that the parent folder permissions match the file permissions. I've had instances where inheritence doesn't apply properly and the files in the folder don't have the permissions you set on the parent folder. -
Satellite A300D-15B PSAKCE - Cannot install the Win XP 64bit sound driver

This is my first post here after lurking for the last week or two, My hope is that somewhere here there is help and hence hope!
I have a wonderful Toshiba A300D-15B PSAKCE with 4GB/O RAM, however I am suffering from some problems that the holy SEARCH function cannot solve. I use this laptop as a development box for uni/work alas...
After an absolute nightmare with Vista32 and Vista64 I decided to go back to windows XP32, however this wont install, keeps claiming a CRC file failure after (and yes this is with the SATA in IDE mode and with an XPSP2 disk)
I decided that I really DONT want to goback to Vista, so installed Windows XP64. Now the initial Instal goes very easy, I have the basic setup, the chipset, graphics, network, processor, usb, pretty much the basic... except... and this is where I have lost most of my hair.... SOUND!
Firstly attempting to install the sound driver results in Failure, claiming the mmdriver.inf cannot be found or corrupt, obviously I checked, and yes there it is, for the sake of it downloaded the MMDRIVER.INF and placed it system32, and still the install fails.
I have also tried a "Manual Install", from the .inf files... this includes the XP32/64 drivers and the Vista 32/64 bit drivers, still the same
problem, driver continues to fail install. I am becoming increasingly bald. Outstanding Drivers that WONT install

Initially I attempted to locate the MS patches you mentioned, KB835221 and KB888111 respectively, alas there were none available that I could find for XP64, also at the time of tapping this message theres no XPSP3 for XP64 bit either.
Lucky for me I logged into my MSDN account and downloaded XP+XPSP3 tore the house up looking for a CDR... anyway long story short.... solved all the problems with the required updates of SP3, I now have my Toshiba A300D-15B all singing 'n dancing laptop setup completely with XP32.
Had to take a hit on the RAM though, gonnna have to go on with only 3.2GB instead of 4GB,
arguably when one counts the memory foot-print that vista ultimate 64 had used I am probalby still on a winner here in memory avaiable terms LOL!

My notebook runs a Windows 8 and I can not update to 8.1.
I tried 3 times and the configuration process stops at 83% and then the Windows 8 is restored
The "error" code is 0x800706BE - 0x2003

The Windows 8.1 upgrade could fail if installed Windows 8 system isnt up to date.
I recommend you to check for available Win 8 updates (control panel -> system -> Windows update)
You should start with Win 8.1 upgrade only when all patches for Win 8 would be installed -

My friend Sherry bought a Satellite S50T-B pspq8a-00h008 laptop at Chrismas in Canberra and brought it back to China.
Now, she found the system cannot be activated via neither online nor by phone. when tried to activate online, she received a error message "0x800707b, The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." I helped her try several solutions but all failed with the same error code.
Here are all solutions we have tried:
1. roll back any changes for optimization purpose.
2. retype the product key by the following commands we found online:
slmgr /upk
slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
slmgr.vbs /ato
3. try to activate by phone, use the command "slui.exe 4", it appears "the system cannot be activated by phone"
4. restore the system. we are shocked by that the activation still doesn`t work.
by now, we don`t know what we can do to activate windows 8.1.
does anyone here could help us ?If your notebook is still preinstalled with original recovery image that you got with your notebook create bootable recovery media (DVD or USB stick) please using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator tool. How to do this is described in users manuals document.
After doing this use this media and reinstall Windows. Start your notebook, connect it to the internet using LAN cable or WLAN connection and I hope everything will be OK. -
Lookout 5 cannot find computer - win xp sp2 problem?
I'm receiving this message when I try to connect to a machine in Lookout 5 object browser:
Lookout cannot find any resources on the specified computer. This computer may have become disconnected from the network.
The computer is not disconnected from the network, network connection is fine, ping and explorer browsing work fine. Object explorer lists the computer, but when I try to open it I receive the mentioned message.
The only thing that I noticed odd is that problematic machine runs xp sp2, and other does not (it runs sp1). When I try to connect with other machine that also has sp1, all works fine.
Anybody has a clue? Is this sp2 problem and is there a work around?

Adobe X cannot print from Win 7 VMWare virtual machine
I've created several virtual machines using VMWare Workstation and VMWare fusion.
I've installed Win 7 Pro 64bit. I've installed either Office 2010 32 bit or 64 bit.
When I open any PDF file and click File Print. Adobe crashes. I get an OS error message the program has encountered an error and I can search online for a solution or close the program.
Either option results in the application closing.
Is this common? Can anyone else verify the same results?
Will this be patched or is it by design?

"Connection failed" using smb to Win 7 64-bit shared folder
Hi,
I am a new Mac user and was unable to find any suggestion for a solution to the problem I am experiencing.
I use a folder on my PC to store video files. It is shared and the Mac connects to the address smb://biblioteket. This usually works fine, but sometimes I get a "Connection failed" error message. I connect through a gigbit wired ethernet connection.
Some other characteristics:
- If I restart my PC and reconnect, it works again - every time.
- I can connect to the PC using Teamviewer even if I get the error message, meaning there is a connection between the computers.
- The error will always show up if I try to copy large files from my Mac to the shared folder on the PC. I get a error message during file copying, after that the mounted drive is inaccessible and the "Connection failed" error message appears.

So I did what I always do to get the error message. I moved about 25 files from the Mac to the PC. Total size was about 5 gb. About half way through, I get the following error message:
The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “(filename(.avi” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36).
So I retry, but this time the mounted drive has disconnected and get the following error msg:
The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -41).
This happened with a new user (administrator). Any ideas? Thanks in advance. -

Go to the device manager, find the Other Devices category and click on the Network Controller device. That is the wireless card that needs the driver. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file. That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp68301. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
