Cannot sort ipod music

I have noticed that since upgrading to iOS 5 on my iphone 4, that while I play music through itunes when my phone is connected, I cannot sort my music.
I can sort however I want on my desktop machine, but when on my laptop (macbook pro) I cannot sort by anything. Is there a trick to getting this to work again? I made sure that on my desktop where I sync all my music from and such that I have manually manage music and videos, but that doesnt seem to help.

All I can find is videos are shown in alphabetical order by title, and that's it.

Seems like the music never completly downloaded. Try redownloading on computer and sync.

Cannot stream ipod music on iphone 3g

I can successfully connect my iphone to my VW RNS510 phone system to receive/make calls. The system also has the ability to accept A2DP connections, to play audio through the stereo. In online demos, I have seen a bluetooth icon on the ipod play screen, allowing the audio to be sent via bluetooth. On my unit, I cannot get the icon to display, and therefore cannot stream my music. Although my phone connects without issue and I can listen to voice messages through the car stereo I cannot direct my music to the bluetooth connection.
I have the latest OS. Any thoughts/suggestions.

Seems like the iPhone is not aware that your system is A2DP capable. Maybe a re-pairing will help. Try erasing the device from the iPhone bluetooth list and pairing again.

The iPod shuffle does not use Windows Media Player to sync, it uses Apple’s iTunes application, available for free from this web site -

That sounds like you've engaged one of the automatic syncing options for your nano.
Plug the nano in, and go into the Device screen for the nano in itunes. Is "manually manage ..." unchecked? If so, check the box for it, and click okay. Disconnect and reconnect the nano. Is the content on the nano able to be selected in your iTunes now?

If that's not a real email, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.

I need to uninstall and reinstall itunes but cannot find my music anywhere so will i lose what is on my ipod when i re connect it later

Since having a virus on my laptop I am unable to access my itunes. It is asking that I uninstall and reinstall. I am worried that as I cannot find my music already in the itunes library that if i do this reinstalling then connect my ipod that I will loose all the music on there already. I am not necessarily worried about it not being in the library. ANy ideas.

It sounds like you are wanting to re install iTunes but want to be sure of the location of your files before you do so. The following article will walk you through checking where the library is being stored:

Once you have successfully done that you can go ahead and choose Erase and Sync when you plug your iPod in.

I downloaded my IPodTouch to my computer with no problems. I tried to drag the music I bought on my IpodTouch to other playlists on my computer and it did not let me. It refuses to let me even try to drag it to my computer music Library. It shows on my IPodTouch, but like I said, it will not let me drag it to my other Ipod(s) or even to my Music Library on my computer. Please help me.

Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

Ipod nano 7th generation is playing but I cannot hear the music

I have a 16 gb ipod nano 7th generation. I've followed all the instructions in syncing and all seems fine except I cannot hear the music through the earbuds, even though the ipod shows it is playing. What am I doing wrong?

If you are not getting any sound from your headphones on your iPod nano, I suggest reading over the information in the following article. Along with the information in the Acoustics section of the article, make sure the headphone jack is pushed completely into the headphone jack.

Follow these steps if there's no sound coming from your headphones.*
Verify that the headset is plugged in to the iPod .
Check the volume setting.
Try adjusting the volume by pressing the volume buttons.
Try another song or audio file.
Try another headset.
Reset iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo appear.
Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.

Home Sharing is designed to work on your local network not across the internet/cloud.
Stuff is accessed under the Computers column where your local iTunes library on a local computer would appear.
Home Sharing would share your iTunes content (i.e. stuff stored in itunes on the computer, not in the cloud) with AppleTV or an iPad etc on the SAME network.
AppleTV2 will not be able to see itunes content on the work computer over the internet. It's not designed to. if the work computer was on the home network it would.
iCloud is in it's infancy and is not a mature product - iTunes TV Show purchases appear on AppleTV, but currently music does not unless you are subscribed to iTunes Match. I find this rather odd to be honest, along with the inability to buy music on AppleTV2. Movies purchased in iTunes are not authorised for iCloud viewing currently either.
Maybe it has something to do with iTunes Match 'getting in the way' - i think they assume you'll use that whereas you really want to be able to access Purchased music from the cloud without subscribing to itunes Match which is overkill for some.

You can enable disk use in iTunes and browse your iPod, or you can restore your iPod so everyting on it would be erased.
