Cannot start PC: Optimized dst not available

Hi everyone,
I have a HP pavilion dm4. It works perfectly yesterday and tonight, it does not want to start.
I've launched the startup test and run-in test and the last failed. I've got the following error:
Memory Test: Passed
Smart check Passed
Short dst: passed
Optimized dst: not available
Failure id: 9SMUG4-0007k1-XD6U3G-C0EB03
Can someone tells me what it means ?

You can try to boot the unit in last known good configuration mode by choosing from the Advanced boot options by tapping F8 on boot. If that does not work then you might have to reinstall the operating system using the HP restore discs.

CUPC Error - Failed to start conversation Start conversation capability is not available

We are running CUCM 7.1.5.32900-2 and Presence 8.5.2.10000-49.
When some of the users highlight numbers and call them using click to call (The click to call that comes as a part of CUPC), they are getting the following error box...

Start conversation capability is not available
Our users typically have 7941 phones that are associated with their user. They are not using softphone.
Has anyone else come across this error, and what was the culprit?

Problem After a secure profile is enabled for a user, the user cannot place or receive calls. The user might see the following error message multiple times:

The user can use the instant messaging features.
This problem occurs if a secure profile is enabled for the user in Cisco Unified Communications Manager while either of the following is true:
•The user is signed in to Cisco Unified Personal Communicator.
•The cucsf.exe process is running on the computer of the user, that is, Cisco Unified Personal Communicator is running, but the user has not signed in.
Ask the user to sign out of Cisco Unified Personal Communicator, then sign in again.

Tecra M9 - TPSMain.exe cannot start because CpePerf.dll not found

Hi and help,
have searched the web and found other forum threads with similar issues.
Tried all the suggestions to no avail. I am not great on the computer but can find my way around. Anyway....
After login messge following messages pop up in succession, along the lines of : TPSMain.exe cannot start because CpePerf.dll not found then: TPSoddctl.exe cannot start because CpuPerf.dll not found
Computer works fine but Power Saver does not auto start and neither can i select it to from control panel.."toshiba power saver is not running",
so select it from Power options..."failed to start as CpuPerf.dll is not running"
Did all the searching on net and followed all advice... i.e. unistall power saver in safe mode, unistall toshiba common utilities neither can unistall fatal error 0x7e
So download Ccleaner, run checks, unistall with Ccleaner same fatal error.
Been on Toshiba support and tried to install Power Saver......same problem won't install .
So help help help if possible.
Computer is working fine but messages popping up are annoying and i would love power saver to prolong battery.
Tried system restore, though i doubt this affects the files...another problem "system restore could not complete"...tried this several times and cannot system restore either....what is going on???????

so you suggest there is nothing i can do other than restore from Toshiba recovery disc. Do you think somebody with a bit more knowledge could do sort it out with a less drastic approach..i.e is it worth taking it into a shop? Or do you think they will just have to go down the same route?
If i follow your plan is it just a simple case of downloading all my docs, photos, bookmarks to an external hd and then inserting the recovery disc and following intructions.?? I guess this disc then formats the HD and then reinstalls all the components the laptop came with??? is it infact a drastic approach, or quite simple as a procedure...what do i stand to looose?
Also how do i save xp as this is a version i installed when working/ using my laptop for my previous employer and i no longer have access to the discs/product key.
also could you confirm if this procedure would sort out system restore. I have tried restoring again to several restore points and the procedure will not complete, so this function is definitely not working anymore.
Sorry for more questions but as you can see this is not familair territory for me!!

CUCIMOC 8.0 Error "Start converstation capability is not available"

I've got a user that I'm trying to setup CUCIMOC 8.0 for. We're using the latest CUCIMOC client release, Office Communicator 2008 R2 at the latest CU level, and Call Manager 7.1. I've got everything setup for the user identically to how other (working) CUCIMOC users on our CM are setup. The user is able to login to the CUCIMOC client, and is able to use his phone to make calls, but when he tries to use the softphone he gets the error message:
"Failed to start converstation. Start conversation capability is not available."
Digging further, when looking at this device in CUCM Admin, the softphone device shows up as Active and Trusted, but doesn't show a registration.
Looking further, in the Core client log from his machine, I get the error below (indicating the softphone isn't able to register):

Try the following-
1) Uninstall local antivirus/firewall
2) disable all network adapters except the one being used
3) update hardware driver such as video and audio
4) uninstall cucimoc and re-install using local admin permission
Also try the latest version cuci-lync 8.5.2 (it is compatible with OCS 2007 R2 and up)

Suddenly iTunes didn´t function. Trying to reinstall Ifirst tried to delete the program and all iTunes files, but ITunes Helper could not be deleted. Hi,
From memory (as it is a long time since I've done this) you can call another function module or SAP command that will tell you how many work processes are currently available before you actually then start the new task. This can help you to avoid this issue and also stop you from eating up all available work processes on a system which will annoy all other users!

Photoshop wont start. Scratch disc not available

Please help. I assigned a certain drive on my Mac pro to be a scratch disc for CS4 like I did when i had a PC. Now when i try and start CS4 it stops and says "could not open a scratch file because the disc is not available" I press OK and then get "Could not initialize photoshop because the disk is not available". I uninstalled PS4 and then reinstalled but it still does it. The scratch disc I assigned is a partition of the main drive. I have no idea what to do next.

Thank you for the quick and correct answer. Almost as soon as I pushed the submit button on the problem I realized what I had done was a preference setting and remembered to go delete that file, after which all was fine. Whew

Cannot post - Apple Discussion temporarily not available

I have been trying to post a message since about a week ago. I keep getting the message that Apple Discussion is temporarily not available and to visit Apple Support.
But, I noticed there are messages being posted by others during this period. I am posting from Asia. Is this problem in Asia only ..??
Appreciate some heads up to what I can do to resolve this issue.

If this was happening to me, I would try the Open DNS numbers.
So go up to the Apple icon on the top left corner of your screen.
Double click and move your cursor down to "System Preferences."
Then go down to "Network."
Click on Advanced button down in the lower right.
In the resulting box, click on the top menu > DNS.
Then, write down the two (probably) addresses in the left pane (DNS Servers).
(This is in case this doesn't work, and you can simply put the old ones back in easily)
Then erase those old numbers and replace with 208.67.222.222 (top one)
and 208.67.220.220 (lower one). The order is just to make things clearer to you.
It really doesn't matter.
Then when the new numbers are in there, go down to the lower right corner of that pane,
and click the OK button.
Restart Safari, and test again.

DNS Server not working. Start Time "Not Available"

I lost power to my server last night in a power outage.
Today the DNS Server doesn't seem to be working. I verified that my server's IP is the primary name server on the clients, however all lookups are going to the secondary (public) name server and therefore giving the public IP address for LAN services.
To test it, I typed in Terminal (both on a client machine and on the server itself) "nslookup [myinternaldomain.com] [mydnsserverip]" and get ";; connection timed out; no servers could be reached"
When I load up Server Admin, I see that the DNS service is running but for Start Time it says "Not Available".
Tried stopping and starting the service.

No audio from HDMI output because High Definition Audio Driver cannot start (Envy 17 Quad)

Ever since I first bought this laptop two months ago, the audio from the HDMI output has always been inconsistent. I remember it working a couple times, but there were more times when my audio driver didn't recognize that an HDMI cable was plugged in. Yes, I tried all the obvious: shutting down computer, checking disabled devices in Playback Devices, reinstalling drivers, etc. Now, when I plug an HDMI cable in, the video comes out fine but the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC does not recognize HDMI/my TV. The High Definition Audio Driver says it cannot start, but I could not reinstall nor find a download from HP's website. How can I get audio through HDMI to my TV??

Cannot Start Workflow Service from Service Manager

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

P55-GD85: USB3.0 not working (device cannot start)

I'm running Windows 7 x86 and I've installed all the new drivers from the MSI homepage. Unfortunately, the USB 3.0 Host Controller is not working.
There is a device "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller" but I do have the error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I also tried to install the driver delivered with the motherboard with the same result.
Any suggestions? Could it be a hardware problem?

What if you manually uninstall the device from Windows Device Manager then let Device Manager rescan and reinstall?
Try to check the disk file system for errors. MY COMPUTER > RIGHT CLICK on C Drive and select PROPERTIES. TOOLS then select CHECK NOW. Tick the top box.
Also try to cleanup with CCleaner and run Malwarebytes. I've fixed quite a few systems with CODE 10 issues using the above.
