Cannot start scan from HP Office Jet Pro 8620 since upgrading to Windows 10

I updated to Windows 10 Home 64 bit. I can scan if it is started from the PC on the HP Printer Assistant. But cannot start a scan from the front panel on the 8620 printer,it times out and gives errors"The scan could not be completed due to one or more of the following issues-connection to the computer is lost-The scan application on the computer is currently in use- OCR application is not installed on the computerSee the computer monitor for details" Nothing is displayed on the computer monitor. How do I get scan to work on the printer without initiating it from the PC?

Hi, Please check that the Software is installed, you can download the software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8620-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5367611/model/5367613#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930C7 Once installed, can you start up your printer software and under Scan, there is a "Manage Scan to Computer" tab.  Click on the "Manage Scan to Computer" tab and make sure it is enabled.  Hope that helps! Please click the “Kudos Thumbs up” on the left if this has helped you and “Accept as solution” if this has helped solved your problem.

  • Cannot download Solution Center for Off Jet 6500 Wireless since going to Windows 8.1

I get a failure message and am unable to download HP full feature software (a.k.a. the "solution center") for my HP Officejet 6500 Wireless on my Aspire E1-571-688 Laptop.   The solution center was successfully downloaded when I got the laptop in August 2013.  It was running fine until I upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1.
When I discovered that the solution center would not run, I removed the printer and driver software beofre trying to reinstall.  When trying to get the Solution Center back, I can't get past the download step because during download it "fails".  I was able to download "drivers only" through the "add a printer" option, and I do have printing capability, however I am unable to use the scan function from the laptop (or directly from the 6500).
Weird that I can't get the scan function to work on the unit itself (I get the "no scan options" message when trying to do so) as I have confirmed mutliple times that the printer is successfully connected to the correct network.
    Help please!  Thank you

    Geo,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
You will not have access to the full features of the printer software until you manage to install the Full Feature Software.  Scanning is one of those functions.
The initial Connection to the Internet is indeed part of it -- you need a reliable, clean, consistant connection that will allow you to download the full data file.  Your connection may be dropping out part way through.
You may need to upgrade your network drivers after the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 .  There are other issues can can plague a system after the Upgrade, most are well documented at this point.  You can check with your system's Forum to what others are saying.
Basic Drivers only are much smaller in size -- just a few MBs.
    Random Thoughts..
You need to resolve the network issues so you can download the full software.
You might have a friend download the file onto his computer and transfer the file to your system using a USB stick.  This does not fix your network problems but it does solve at least the issue of not being able to get a hold of the installation package.
You might try taking the computer to a friend's house -- if the issue is not within your computer's network setup, then the Upgrade may have "upset" the relationship between the computer and your home network.

  • ADF scanning with HP Office jet pro 8600

Have a new machine. I can scan documents individually on the scanner glass no problem, and when I feed documents through the ADF it all feeds through ok and says "scan successful" however what I have scanned through the ADF always shows as a blank document.  I have checked and double checked I am scanning the documents the right way up and even did it the opposite way just to be sure) and made sure I dont have anything on the glass blocking the scan.  I have changed between text and photo settings.  What am I doing wrong or is there something wrong with the scanner or the ADF?? Its like the document is not being fed through past the glass (I assume thats how it works??) however the machine doesnt make any funny noices or otherwise lets me know anything is wrong.  I get no error messages.  This is only with the ADF.

If the document is coming in blank, one of the reasons for that could be that the ADF is dirty and it is not able to read the document. That would be the first thing that you would want to do when troubleshooting any kind of scan quality issue. The flatbed scanner and the ADF use different components to scan. That document is very relevant to this issue. Solution 5 is servicing the printer...which means that the ADF hardware has probably gone bad and it needs to be replaced. If you were to call into phone support, everything in that document would have to be completed before the printer could be replaced regardless. If it does come down to that, then you are saving yourself time by not having to do it later when you call into support.
However, I do have another step that can tried before reaching that conclusion. If after trying that you are still having issues, then I would recommend that we try a semi-full reset on the printer. If that doesn't fix it, then it is a hardware issue. Try the steps in that document and report back to me and let me know if they work or not. If they do not, I will send you a private message through the forums with the steps on how to perform a semi-full reset.
    Best of luck,
    Kyle

  • Has anyone figured out how to scan from an HP officejet Pro 8600 after upgrading to OS 10.9.4

Has anyone figured out how to scan to  a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4 from HP officejet Pro 8600?

iMovie acts as it does, I suspect, because it's so much safer (and easier) to program.
As iMovie is now structured, each clip has a startFrame and an endFrame. They show the starting point and ending point of that clip in its source file. There's only one of each. Simple.
For us to remove a portion of the middle without splitting the clip in two, iMovie would have to allow each clip to have multiple start/end points. So iMovie would have to "remember" that the clip starts playing at frame 100, stops at frame 120, starts again at frame 150, stops at frame 200, and so on. Very complicated.
The amount of data that would be required to undo a change, for example, could become quite large, and be very, very complicated. Lots of opportunity for errors. Imagine what iMovie would have to "remember" if we could remove the middle, added a title to the clip, remove part of the title, then split the clip and applied a slow motion effect to the second part of the split.
This way is simpler, and not all that inconvenient for users, in my opinion. I prefer simple when it adds to reliability.

  • Directions for adding a Hp office jet pro 8600 plus to a windows 7 computer

We are trying to add an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to a HP windows 7 desktop computer. It is working on the HP windows 8 in the same office,  but the  windows 7 set up stalls at print a test. When we troubleshoot the error does not fix. Can you please give me instructions to get this correctly set up and working as a printer/fax/scan on my HP Windows 7 computer?

    Hello dawnp,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with installing the printer on to your Windows 7 computer.
I suggest that we start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  If the Doctor fails, please let me know where it failed as well as any error codes you may see.
Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to help.

  • Office jet pro 8620 won't load setup print cartridges

I am trying to install my new printer. It came with one set of cartridges which are labeled setup. I follow the instructions and have watched the installation videos -- my cartridges do not load properly -- they appear to be too deep. I push them as far as possible which leaves them overhanging. Then they just eject the cartridges -- am wondering if I have the wrong size setup cartridges.

    Hi @cambal
You should be able to simply slide the new cartridge into its slot, and then gently push it forward until it clicks into place. If you push it again attempting to shush it into place you may be releasing it. it is kind of like a memory card, when you push it inwards it ejects.
Are you getting an error message on the printer? Perhaps the following document will be helpful; A 'Cartridge Missing' or 'Incompatible Ink Cartridges' Error Message Displays for HP Officejet Pro 8....

  • Is it possible to calculate paper usage on my new HP Office Jet Pro 8620?

The printer's embedded web server (EWS) page will provide information on the pages printed.  To access the EWS simply put the IP address of the printer into your browser.  Select the Tools tab and click on the "usage report" on the left side.

  • Can't scan from Office Jet Pro 8600

I can't scan from my Office Jet Pro 8600.  I'm connected to my home Verizon Fios wireless network.  I'm running Windows XP.  The printer works fine, but I can't scan.  When I use the display on the printer I get a "No Computer Found" message.  When I go to find the scanner on the Control Panel/Scanners & Cameras - I can see the printer listed, but when I click on the printer, I get a message that reads: "The scanning software could not be found, or your scanner is not connected.  Please make sure your scanner & your scanner software are properly installed."    So then I use the HP Print & Scan Doctor to download to "Get Installer" presumably to download the software.  After the software downloads, there is no difference.  I still can scan, & the network is not seeing the scanner.  What gives?

    Hello,

  • Hp office jet pro 8600 won't scan

Wirelessly connected office jet pro 8600 won't scan in windows. I've checked to make sure proper services are running and they are. Started running diagnostics utility and the driver didn't check out but I have the correct one installed and the printer works just fine. Occasionally a message pops up and says that the computer has lost connection with the scanner. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi GradyIV,
I can help you scan from your Officejet 8600 to your Windows operating system. It sounds like you have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, is this whee you say the driver error?
I suggest using the following steps to delete the printer from device and printers, and the driver from the server properties.
    1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
    2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
    3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
    4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
    5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
    6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
If the issue persists let me know and I will do what I can to help.

  • How to Scan using your HP Office Jet Pro 8600

Well, I figured out my own answer because I couldn't find a "solved" topic in this regard. So then I decided to post my findings in order to help the next querier (is that a word = one who queries). FYI -  I am not a 'techie' and while I can find my way around a computer it sometimes takes a while.  Also, I have Windows 7 on this laptop if that makes a difference.
    1. Go to Control Panel and choose:
    2. Hardware and Sound, then
    3. Devices & Printers, then
    4. Fax-HP Office Jet Pro 8600 (Network) or whatever printer choice pertains to your situation, then
    5. HP Printer Assistant, then
    6. Scanner Actions, then
    7. Scan a document or photo, then
    8. Save as PDF
    9. Scan
    10. Save to folder you choose
I know this may seem simplistic to most of you but maybe someone like me is out there trying to find this out and this might help.

    Hi Acupuncture,
Thank you very much for posting your solution that you found yourself, on using the scan function on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. I also apologize we were not fast enough to answer one of your inquiries on the HP Support Forums. I was able to check your user page but was unable to find your initial post on asking us How to Scan, did you delete the question? Either way I am glad you are now up and scanning from your OJ 8600.
For future reference I would like you to take a look here: How to Scan: Windows 7, here you will be given all options and shortcuts on scanning with or without the HP software as well as some cool features, like scanning from the front panel of your 8600 and adding multiple pages to a single file.
Again I appreciate you taking the time to help the other Community members, so Thank you again!!

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 hp cannot connect wirelessly to WPA2 Enterprise encrypted network

HP Office Jet Pro 8600 Premium all in one Printer Scanner CAN NOT connect to encrypted wireless network? Specifics: Wireless network uses WPA 2 Enterprise encryption without passphrase. ( mac filtering only ) Mac address of device is already entered into the wireless router list of devices allowed to connect. Wireless wizard reports ....unable to connect due to authentication failure. alternative instalation attempts ask for passphrase which the wireless network does not use at all. Has been a big issue preventing deployment of mobile wireless scanning and printing throughout the facility. WPA2 is clearly listed as supported wireless protocol. Please help. Several weeks of struggle with India did not resolve the issue. Thank You.

If your router supports dual band broadcasting 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz, log into your router and look at the two wireless profile names. The names (SSID) should be changed so that they are different from each other for each band 5 and 2.4. Also if the SSID is the default SSID that ships with the router, change it to a unique name as a neighbor within range may have the same SSID. Rename to "my unique SSID" and connect the printer to the new network name "my unique SSID" as example. If you need further assistance, list the exact model of your router
