Cannot start second instance of collector

Hi everyone
I've got a strange one here. A workstation I noticed that wasn't scanned since 6 months (WinXP SP3, ZCM 10.3.1).
When I check the ZAA windows, it says Last Scanned i.e. today, Last Upload June 2.
I've found several errors 'Cannot start second instance of collector' in the local colw32.log.
However, the workstation gets rebooted daily and I can't find another instance of colw32.exe running in TaskManager.
How can I resolve this? I can't tell how many clients are affected. However, I've got almost 300 clients (15%) that haven't been scanned in the last 180 days...
Thanks
Roland

We had similar issue, inventory was never uploaded to server. To solve it we had to manually do a "Scan Now" from Zenworks agent -> Show properties -> Inventory -> Scan Now, after we did that once on the workstation then scheduled scans started to upload again.
I guess it would probably also work if you do a Inventory scan from quick tasks in ZCC but I never tried it so I'm not sure.

  • Cannot start a default data collector set in Server 2008 R2

    Trying to start a default data collector set "System Performance" in Windows Server 2008 R2, but it won't start.
    I am a domain and enterprise admin, and have actually added my domain credentials to the two Perfmon roles ("Performance Monitor Users" and "Performance log users"). Every time I try to start the "System Performance" Data Collector
    set, it fails to start - the start function gets dimmed together with the stop function.
    I check the task scheduler, and it seems everytime I have tried to run the data collector set, I get the following error logged:
    "Logon Failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer. (0x80070569)"
    I can see that the error number means I do not have access to the machine, but I assure you that I'm logged in as a enterprise admin, the machine is the primary domain controller, and I have permission to do anything else on this machine and the domain.
    I am not experiencing the same problem with two 2012 Servers or either of the two VMs running on this 2008 R2 Server.
    Thanks in advance.
    FMilani

    Hi,
    The 0x80070569 error typically caused by the permission issue, If are the enterprise admin, please try the following steps to confirm there haven’t other GPO permission reason.
    1. Create a new OU and put the this server in it
    2. Create a Group Policy object for this new OU
    3. We blocked inheritance of other policies (if applicable)
    4. Make sure we did not set ANY user rights in our new policy
    5. We edited the local user rights add your account as local admin.
    6. Run the cmdlet gpupdate /force.

  • Cannot start OC4J instance after specifying default java.security.manager

    Hi All,
    I am using OracleiAS 10.1.3.4 and trying to make use of the new User and Role APIs introduced in 10.1.3.1.
    While trying to get an object of IdentityStore using the following code, I got this error -
    java.security.PrivilegedActionException: oracle.security.idm.ConfigurationException: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (oracle.security.jazn.JAZNPermission getOC4JIntegrationData)
    oidFactory = (IdentityStoreFactory) AccessController.doPrivileged(
    new PrivilegedExceptionAction()
    public Object run() throws IMException
    IdentityStoreFactoryBuilder builder =
    new IdentityStoreFactoryBuilder();
    return builder.getIdentityStoreFactory();
    I then tried specifying the default security manager in start JAVA options for my oc4j instance - Djava.security.manager. I also verified that my java policy file is present under $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/oc4j_soa/config/java2.policy. But the issue is - once I put this default secirity manager in startup options in opmn.xml, the oc4j instance does not get started, it gives following error -
    08/12/30 02:58:22 Start process

    Ankit,
    Check your syntax for the datasource. If you migrated from file-based to OID, then you should look at this link:

  • Cannot start OC4J instance - after java.lang.OutOfMemory errors

    Hi, I have successfully deployed an application (using Oracle Web Services, J2EE - EJB, TopLink ) to a new OC4J instance that we created. We use the OEM web site to manage the start/stop and deploy operations.
    Then we tried to run simultaneously 10 clients....against the server app... ran ok for a while and after approx. 5 to 10 min... java.lang.OutOfMemory errors were being thrown at the client.

    Im not sure if this is due to a memory leak or something in my app ? Or does Oracle IAS / Toplink have any such issues for which any possible patches are available ?
    Could anyone please direct me in the possible right direction !
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi,
    We have had this problem too, it only started after we deployed to production and got some load on our application server. We are using JRun as our application server.
    We found that Macromedia (JRun) already addressed the issue in general - that if you get java.lang.OutOfMemory errors, then you need to increase the heap size.
    Previously we had been using our own caching mechanism and never ran into this problem. Since we decided to go with TopLink (which has caching) we no longer use our own caching mechanism... but now we have this problem.
    We have chosen to use FullIdentityMap for caching, but didn't think we would run out of memory in the JVM. Is there a suggested or minimum JVM memory requirement to run TopLink?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Sap upgrade --cannot start shadow instance

    Hi all
    I have solved my issue :

    Your system is configured as a non-Unicode SCP (Single Code Page) configuration.
    If you plan to perform a Unicode Conversion after the upgrade, you may choose to perform a combined
    Upgrade and Unicode Conversion.
    In this case, several of the migration preparation steps can be done already on the start release
    or on the upgrade shadow system.
    For further information, please refer to OSS note 928729.

           The PREPARE module Import will be started now.
    During this module programs, structures, and table entries
    required by PREPARE are imported (the socalled "tool import").
    Note: This can cause a loss of performance in R/3
    In rare cases, a concurrent transport via the transport directory
    may disturb the tool import. Please avoid any concurrent import
    during this PREPARE module.

  • Application lags, until second Instance is started - AND no lagging on another machine...

    Hey, it's me again:
    The last days I started to get along with LabWindows quite well, and my program grew very fast, but today I found a probleme, I do not really know how to handle.
    When I compile my program (both in "debug" and "release"-mode), and start it, it lags quite a lot, but the another version, I still had from friday and did NOT lag that day, started to lag too. So there must be any problem with maybe the configuration or whatever.
    But the weirdest thing:
    When I first start one Version (does not matter which one), and than afterwards start another Instance of it, or a complete other Version (maybe one Version of Friday, and on I just compiled), the second Application (which lags when being started alone), does NOT lag at all.
    In addition to that, all Versions do NOT lag, when I start them on a little netbook, where they're supposed to be used anyway.
    Sumarizing:
    1 Instance --> lagging
    2 Instances --> first lags, second doesn't
    This whole thing is very frustrating
    I hope, some of you may know what to do!
    Greetings from Lübeck
    Mathias

    Glad you found the problem.  You don't need to be embarrassed by it, but you should learn from it.  It sounds like you need to do some error handling, and should probably do some status reporting.  Here are a couple of suggestions.
    1. To troubleshoot a "lagging" problem, you could single-step through your code to see which statement takes longer than you expect.
    2. If the problem was that a power supply was unplugged, it was still unplugged when you started your second instance of the program.  I'd guess you didn't see the lag on the second instance because one or more errors were generated because some resource (maybe like a COM port) was already tied up by the first instance.  Since you didn't mention getting error when you started your second instance, I'd guess that you are ignoring errors that you should be handling.  Many functions indicate errors in their return variables.  Review your code for functions whose return variables you are ignoring.  Handle them as needed, even if it's just with a dialog box.
    3. "Of course" your supply will always be plugged in?  Have you heard of Murphy's Law?  If it was unplugged for you, it might be unplugged for another user.  Or the fuse may blow or the power supply may die.  You should find a way to detect and report conditions like that, so your user isn't wondering why the program isn't starting.
    4. If you have multiple steps in your program or hardware initialization, you could put up a status bar with messages indicating the current operation, so if the program appears to hang, at least the user has some idea on what the program is trying to do.

  • Cannot start instance of another server : correction

    Correction : To the moderator of the newsgroup, please delete my other post with
    the subject 'Cannot start instance of another server'.
    In the console of WLS 6.1 SP3 on HP-UX, I have created another instance of a server
    I called 'another_of_myserver' (in addition to the default myserver). When I
    try to start another_of_myserver, it won't start and gives the following error
    ============================
    <Nov 26, 2002 1:32:04 PM EST> <Error> <NodeManager> <Could not start server 'another_of_myserver'
    via Node Manager - reason: '[SecureCommandInvoker: Could not create a socket to
    the NodeManager running on host 'localhost:5555' to execute command 'another_of_myserver',
    reason: Connection refused. Ensure that the NodeManager on host 'localhost' is
    configured to listen on port '5555' and that it is actively listening]'>
    ===========================
    What does it mean and how do I get it to start ?
    Thanks for any help or suggestion.

    Athooya,
    If you do not specify a weblogic.nodemanager.listenPort or
    weblogic.nodemanager.listenAddress they will be set to the default.
    So the listenAddress will be localhost and so not matching exactly the address
    used by the remote
    start. Please try to set the listen address of the Node Manager when it is
    started. You can specify the address on which the Node Manager will listen for
    requests from the
    Administration Server with the following parameter: -Dweblogic.nodemanager.listenAddress=host
    where host is the DNS name or IP address of the machine where the Node Manager
    is started.
    The default port on which the Node Manager will listen for requests
    from the Administration Server is 5555. You can change this with the following
    startup parameter:
    -Dweblogic.nodemanager.listenPort=port
    Refer to

  • Multiple LV instances, web server cannot start, port already in use

    Hi there,
    I have a general question about webserving VIs in case either
    a) multiple instances of the LV development environment are running (this is possible in windows XP for instance when "switch users" is allowed and each user launches LV)
    b) multiple compiled LV executables are run by the same user
    c) any mixture of the two above
    I have an application case when either of the three above would be a very good solution, was not for the problem encountered. Say, b): the user is given two deployed executables, and can decide to run either or both concurrently. Moreover, I want these applications to be visible on the web, so they are compiled with the webserver turned on, default settings.
    The problem I've seen (LV8.5.1, winXp for sure, but I think I've seen it as well in linux and other versions as well) is that each new instance of the LV engine tries to get hold of the tcp port (default 80), so that all instances beyond the first complain about "The Web Server cannot start. Is the Web Server port already in use?"
    While I can understand the origin of the message, and found some posts on the forums somehow related to it, I don't like it too much.
    I could think only of two workarounds here: 1) set different web server ports for each LV instance, and instruct the remote users to direct their browsers to a webserverort link to access each VI; 2) run all the applications from the same instance of the LV dev system. The latter is not so convenient for me, due to conflicts in global VIs between all instances of the applications [compiling executables IS a way to privatize memory spaces in this case, AND global variables are imho well justified for the fairly complex application I have in mind here].
    Is there a third, more elegant solution perhaps, which I'm missing?
    Thanks, Enrico

    What is it in particular that you dislike about the message?
    How would you like LabVIEW to behave in this case?
    No problem with the message, but I'd just be very happy if a single
    web server would serve all my instances of the executables on the same
    port. I.e., if 2.exe is open and wants to start another server on the
    same port used already by 1.exe, then 2.exe becomes served by the
    server already opened. Am I demanding too much? Am I missing some
    necessary logic?
    At the moment, anyway, I'm stuck with the vi being served correctly,
    but not the compiled application, and I can't figure out why. It's
    LV8.5.1, and yes, I have in the .ini

    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

    Thanks, but could you please give me an example of workaround? I've tryied the mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn stuff, but it returned me an error (ORA-01878)...
    It's really very difficult to apply a patch i the comming days, and the major impact I have is the scheduled backups on OEM are not running, so I have to manually execute them every day...
    Thenks in advance
