Cannot Start Security Center
When I try to start my Security Center service, it says that it is unable to.
When I search in "Services" Security Center is not found in the listings.
How do I go about turning on Security Center?

In most case the issue is caused by the infection of virus.
So just like britishdhez said scan your computer.
But before reformating your PC, we can firstly try the methods below.
Try importing the wscsv registry a healthy machine.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wscsvc].
Before importing it, please back up the registry key first. Just find the key and right click it, choose export and save to desktop.
After importing the correct registry, please follow instructions in the KB provide by
britishdhez and start the security service.

Couldn't find the certificate file.
After that, the server continues with SSL connections disabled.
I have my own (default) apache running in RH 9 and installed tta web server
in port 81 -which is shut down.
Certificate is installed ok and https by its own is working fine.
I have correctly found in /opt/tarantella/var/tsp both cert files, which in
fact are pointing as sym links to /etc/httpd/conf/ssl...
The command tarantella security certinfo shows everything is ok.
Any hint on debugging this?

It was a permission denied error rather than a file not found.
Cert files where only root readable and couldn't be accessed
by tta at runtime.
It was hard to guess since looking at the sym links doesn't
show the destination's file permissions by default.
Hope the error message be more specific in future versions in
order to save all us some time.

Cannot start control center service
After installed OWB and created repository successfully, found that the control
center is not started.

I then found that there are 3 procedures that are listed as 'INVALID' under owb_owner. Recompilation failed on all of them.

The log file in ../owb/log directory shows that every couple of minutes a new log file generated on the following error.

even if I delete the temp directory the service is still not able to start.

TS1368 I cannot connect to the iTunes Store. I receive Error Code -1202. This problem began yesterday. I have been successfully connecting to the store for months on this PC. I am running Windows 7 and the Windows Security Center. Thanks for any help.

Keep beeping, cannot start, after installing security update. Please help.
I just apply the security update today in my MacBook (aluminum), but then the laptop cannot start.
When starting, it beeps 3X, pauses, then beeps 3X, pauses, and so on - never stops.
I press the power button to stop, but when pressing the power button back on, this keeps happening.
Does somebody also have this kind of issue? What should I do?
Sorry if I may have repeated other reports, I just cannot find here. I googled a bit and somebody tells that beeping 3X relates to graphics device problem. What should I do with this?

Yes, that is the key we all are getting while the announced shows the key first presented in the update released as 2010-001, back in January. Nothing else reported besides the SHA1 diff.
I am sorry to tell you but this issue would hardly, if not ever, be related to the update. It seams to be the hardware fault in fact, test each memory in each slot, one at a time trying to boot the 4 times, 3 in the case, you are already up with this mem/slot combination.

Cannot start imported Hyper-V VM: The Security ID structure is invalid (0x80070539).
I haven't seen any mention of this in any of the forums. I'm attempting to import a virtual machine to a Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V system. Normally this is fairly straight-forward. However, the imported virtual machine will not start. I'm getting the following
error message:

Secure Socket Tunnelling Protocol Service cannot start
I'm having problems with my mobile broadband since the Dec 2011 updates cycle.
Hardware: ASUS F6VE laptop, core2duo, 4 gig ram, ATI graphics
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit SP1 completely updated to Dec 2011. This install was originally Vista Home Premium 32bit and upgraded to Win7.
AV: Microsoft Security Essentials
The symptoms:
Error 711:" The operation could not finish because it could not start the Remote Access Connection Service manager in time."
Rasman cannot start because Secure Socket Tunnelling Protocol service cannot start.
The system log is now filling up with:
7001: "The Remote Access Connection Manager service depends on the Secure Socket Tunnelling Protocol Service service which failed to start because of the following error:
The operation completed successfully."
and
7036: "The Secure Socket Tunnelling Protocol Service service entered the stopped state."
Attempting to open the properties of the dialup adaptor gives an error dialog box:
Title:"Network Connections"; Message:"An unexpected error occurred." Removing the existing connections and trying to reinstall the modem made no difference.
The issue is specific to the dial up / mobile broadband though as the Ethernet still works fine. The mobile broadband stopped working when I let the December 2011 Windows Updates install. It was fine till then - I'd been using it all day before applying the
updates that night. The only odd thing that I will say is that for a few weeks now, occasionally Windows would occasionally not detect the display, keyboard and track pad on first boot, but restarting generally was successful. Then just when I started up the
PC to download the hot fixes, the Windows detected "new hardware" and reloaded drivers for the ACPI x86 based PC (i.e. the HAL driver) and a few others that I wasn't quick enough to note. I've never seen that happen before, but now the hardware is being set
up correctly each boot and seems to behave apart from SSTP service is broken.
Rolling back to a previous restore point did not fix it, nor did uninstalling the hotfixes.
I've tried pretty much every fix that I have been able to find and none are successful.
The "fix" by removing sstpsvc as a dependency in the RasMan registry key was unsuccessful.
The "fix" by deleting the contents of %system32%\Logfiles\WMI and %system32%\Logfiles\WMI\RtBackup was unsuccessful
The "fix" by reregistering netshell.dll and ole32.dll successfully registered for the former, but not ole32.dll. The problem was not fixed.
"sfc /scannow" only finds the autochk.exe hash issue, which has been a present for some time.
I will mention that I had VMWare Workstation 7.1.4 installed. I tried to uninstall it a while back, but it broke another program that I need - probably something to do with the sentinel driver. I have now uninstalled VMWare and reset the TCP/IP stack without
issue. The problem was not fixed though.
I really don't want to reinstall as it's taken me quite some time to get it set up as I want itYou don't need to start the services you just need to make sure that the startup type is set to manual.
The service itself will start when needed.
This message here is not an error or problem, it is just telling you that service is not being used by anything on your computer.
SSTP: "The Secure Tunnelling Protocol Service on Local Computer started then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."
What exactly are you trying to do that requires this service (SSTP)? -
My 2007 iMac 24" attacked' while on Youtube and cannot start up. I need first aid to get it going again...
True, it's retired as working machine but serves as family entertainment center.At this point you have 2 choices.
Erase the disk entirely and reinstall (you will lose everything that is not backed up)
Take it to an Apple Store (you will probably lose everything that is not backed up)
I believe this is a hardware (HDD) issue and would expect a Store trip to be the best approach, sorry.

Did you try a safe mode start? -
I am unable to connect to the iTunes Store. This issue began yesterday, 3/11/13. I previously have been able to connect to the store successfully on this computer which runs Windows 7 and Security Center since November. I also used the iTunes Store on my previous computer for several years. I am able to connect to the store with my new iPod Touch 5th generation. I did a Google search for Error Code -1202 but did not find any pertinent results. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in troubleshooting this situation. Thank you!

Satellite P875-31Z - Cannot remove McAfee Security Center
Hey there, I have a slight problem, and so far, I haven't been able to solve it.
I was helping a friend who isn't as tech savvy as me purchase a laptop, and he bought the Satellite P875-31Z.
Now, it comes with McAfee software preloaded.
I was able to uninstall most of the unwanted Mcafee software, but the McAfee Security Center just doesn't want to go away.
It doesn't show up in the windows 8 "remove a program"-list, it doesn't show up in the windows store app list, and even the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool (MCPR) doesn't get rid of it. Well, it at least got rid of the tile-picture, now it's just a blank tile.
Is it part of some Toshiba software and I'd have to remove some software that is also crucial for the proper working of, say, the function keys?
Drives me slightly mad, first time I couldn't get rid of software ^^Im really wondering you have this problem. On my Win8 preinstalled Satellite notebook under Programs and Features there are two entries for McAffe:
McAffe Anti-Theft and McAffe internet Security. I presume the same must be on this P875 too.
What must be done is removal of McAffe Internet security. After notebook restart remove McAffe Anti-Theft and uninstall McAffe Security advisor placed on the desktop (right mouse click). Thats all.

Windows Security Center will not turn on and seems to be missing.
My brother in law's laptop had some malware which I have gotten rid of. After I cleaned it up I went to start his Security Center since the Action Center (windows 7) said that Windows Security Center Service is turned off. When I click "turn on now" it
says it cannot be started. I tried doing it manually by going into services and clicking on Security Center, but it isn't there. My laptop is also Win7 and I confirmed that it is normally there but on his it is missing. Is there a way to install it or fix

Cannot establish secure connection to Apple Store
I've tried all the solutions I can find to no avail, but cannot seem to establish a secure connection to the iTunes store. No error code just a blank iTunes Store screen and a never ending attempting connection. Some of what I've tried:
* Date and time correct
* SSL and TSL checked
* No proxy and tried to check and uncheck auto detect settings
* Used Autoruns to be sure no other LSP providers
* Ensured Windows Firewall has iTunes fully allowed (even reset Firewall to default and then reallowed it again)
* Removed and/or disabled all security software to test for possible blocking
* Reset Winsock and rebooted
* I CAN reach secure sites in my browser just not in iTunes
* Removed iTunes, Quicktime and any other Apple related items I could find with RevoUninstaller to look for leftover entries, rebooted and reinstalled (several times)
* Cleaned all cookies, caches and old registry entries
* Machine is free of all malware
This only happens on one computer so I know it's not my account. It happened out of the blue (well, I'm sure it was related to something...a Windows update, an update of something....but I didn't associate it at the time so I do not know what). I know another person who had the exact same symptoms out of nowhere and has very different software from me (and a totally unrelated account to mine) so I suspect a Windows Update but I don't know which one.
Specs: Windows 7 64-bit iTunes 10.6.3 AV is Microsoft Security Essentials with realtime Malwarebytes
When I open iTunes it takes a very long time to load, system becomes sluggish, and then when it finally does load, it simply will not connect to the store and it will not recognize any iPhone or iPad I try to sync. When I run the diagnostic the only information it seems to contain that is pertinent is that I can't establish the secure connections. In Safe mode iTunes will start more quickly but since I cannot start Apple service in safe mode I cannot connect to the iTunes store that way. (I have however, disabled all but the most essential startup items and the long load in normal boot still remains).
I'm at a loss. I've Googled and searched the forums here and tried every plausible thing I could find but nothing seems to work. Any further ideas are welcomed. I was going to try an older install of iTunes but older versions won't read a library created in a newer version. I would really like to sync some new items to my devices and since the computer won't sync to the cloud as it can't log in - I'm kinda stuck at the moment. It's really frustrating. I'll be glad to post diag logs if anyone things it will really help.
Many thanks for any additional ideas!I finally went into my services and looked at every service that wasn't set to start automatically and read the description. If it sounded like it could be enabled safely (obviously that was a decision I had to make for myself and the security of my machine) I enabled it and set it to start automatically. Anything with regards to peer to peer, internet related, and homesharing was certainly something I considered. There was also a service called IKE that was stopped for some reason that was recommended never to be stopped. I personally enabled over 35 different services. Somewhere in there (and I have no idea which service or combination of services) it fixed my problem. The interesting part was that I never went in and stopped any of these services or changed the status on my own, so I have no idea where they got changed - and nowhere in any of the reinstalled did Apple products set the services back to what they needed them to be. Go figure.
As an aside - Bonjour was enabled AND running but iTunes kept telling me it wasn't. That is what started my search in the services to start with. I did try iTunes support but they were less than helpful and directed me back to all the same tech bulletins or to call for paid support - which I wasn't about to do for a free program that just stopped working.
iTunes is now opening like a charm and is connecting perfectly for me. Obviously, this is something you'd want to do with caution and I'd suggest that before you blanket go and do as many as I did that you might want to carefully select the ones that you look at setting. My first reboot took a bit but after that things have been running smoothly. Your mileage may vary and take this with caution. You may want to enable a few at a time and test instead of doing what I did. -
Cannot start Safari; crashes every time I try to start it
Since today i cannot start Safari (2.0.4) at all; it crashes within 10-15 seconds after starting it.
I tried all the things that were suggested in other articles that were mentioning similar behaviors without luck.

Which version of Piclens are you using? - latest is 1.5.3 found here. I notice too it is a Beta version, which means not bug free.
Go to your Main Library (/Library)>InputManagers folder and move the PicLens item to the desktop, then restart Safari. If Safari starts up, you found the culprit. If not, move the items back to its original location.

I own PSE 7 on disc. The laptop it was loaded on died. My new laptop doesn't have an optical drive so I downloaded PSE 7 from the Adobe site. It downloaded fine but I cannot start using it until I enter a S/N. The S/N on the disc box doesn't work.
Those links weren't particularly helpful to me. They convinced me to install the drivers for my USB 2.0 card, but that didn't make a difference. Still no OS X without a PRAM reset if I've dared to venture into OS 9.
It's always been my understanding that an unblessed System Folder will not be selectable in OS 9's Startup Disk control panel. My folders are blessed and healthy. Of course I'm running 9.2.2, as stated in my first message. I also frequently verify and repair my disks and permissions.
I did a verbose startup of OS X, and noticed something funny about "ATY...too old." Perhaps this problem is related? I ventured into my system.log file and there it was, repeated over and over, everytime I've booted this computer:

Anyone know how to interpret that? Is it related to my problem? I googled it, and all I found was a web board of people arguing over whether the Apple installed stock ATI Rage video card that came in the G3's is appropriate for Panther. The Ye's have it as far as I'm concerned...as long as I leave OS 9 alone, my video is fine on this computer!

A lot of problem for an error: Cannot start Managed Server through NM
Hi, all. Thank for coming here.
My main problem is cannot start Manager server through Node Manager. I've configured with the same way on my friend's network and It's works but It's wrong with mine.
my weblogic domain:
Machine 1: Administration Server + 1 Managed server
Machine 2: 1 Managed server
all of these servers communicate through SSL protocol. When I try to start Managed Server on remote machine:

I can ensure that all of these connection pool has configured to run on 9093 port already. Then I view the DOMAIN_NAME/pointbase.log, it said:
Unable to start the server. start server error: java.net.BindException: Address already in use
I cannot understand what's run on pointbase address ?
All of these error make me angry, because I've configured with the same way on other system and It's work. I've spent all of week to fix these bug, but I'm having nothing :((

I've looked for these JAVA_OPTION values you said, but I cant found them. That value is content of JAVA_DEBUG option, not JAVA_OPTION. In my situation, JAVA_DEBUG=" " (it's not set by default).

Dear All, I have a dount,here at our client when we create commercial invoice todays date and while creating excise invoice in posting field we enter yesterdays date it is allowing to post. I per my knowledge it should not be like this.Please guide
