Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

I continue to get this message. I have seen numerous other suggestions where it states that you should look for %appdata% and %temp% putting these in the Windows (7) start bar throws up nothing.
I have done a search for these folders but to no avail. Is there any other way to fix this persistent problem?

I've done the %appdata% and %temp%/skype fixed. It allows me to log into skype for that session. But if I reboot the problem is right back again. I have no idea how to fix this. I've reinstalled several times and done the %appdata%/%temp% fix several times.

Perhaps the list of processes/applications running on your computer will provide a hint on the guilty application.

Moved my library to an external hard drive. Now I get this message when trying to import video: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again.

I recently moved my iMovie Library and all of its contents to an external hard drive. I then erased the library and all of its contents from my iMac HD and created a new library. Now when I try to import video from my DV camera I get this message: Cannot start ingest because there is no storage location set. Please set one under Storage in Preferences and try again. There is no way to set a storage location in Preferences. I have chosen an Event in the middle drop down box. But it still will not import. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My iTunes library is set up the way I said in the top post and works totally fine.
Yes, and that is the default structure to which I was referring. iTunes will organize it that way automatically unless people do start changing settings (in which case they should know what they are doing and how iTunes works with library files and media structure.)
Both ways work, the advantages of mine would be that should iTunes try looking fo a library, it will always be in the default location.
It makes people think they have to change media location in preferences. They do not unless they want to relocate media only and leave other things on their internal drive (in which case there is no point in copying library files to the external, and you certainly wouldn't want to then delete them from your internal).
Downside is that then should someone move their iTunes library to anther computer they need to remember to get those library files on the external hard drive.
Just copy the whole iTunes folder and it will get the library files to the other drive in one step, along with all the other files.
Your post has good stuff but it makes a move appear intimidating and look like people have to do a lot of organizing to move the collection. It also throws in extra steps (namely altering preference settings) that could cause confusion or even make a mess of things. If people leave iTunes to default preference settings (which most people do) the move summarizes into a short line: Copy a folder and hold an extra button the next time you start iTunes.
Note that the instructions in the link I provided earlier do also include many steps, but those are to ensure that everybody does have it all organized correctly before simply copying the iTunes folder. In the end it is just a simple action.

I cannot update itunes because the latest version cannot be deleted (system is looking for itunes64.msi and cannot find). Update is going reverse. I tried to install the full version, but there is the same problem. What can I do?

Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Cannot start server, because cannot open .CMD file?

I am a new person to the web logic server. After I install it from the CD coming
with the book "j2ee applications and bea weblogc server", I found that I cannot
start the default server at all. When I click start->program->...->start default
server, there is always a dialog box asking me to find a proper file to pen the
"startWebLogic.cmd" file. I donot know why it seems that my windows 98 machine
cannot open the .cmd file.
Could you please help me out of this problem? I searched throught this newsgroup,
but it seems taht nobody ever had a similar problem.

A glance reveals that neither Windoze ME nor 98 is supported as a server platform,
and 98' is only supported as a client for version 4.5.1. No joy.
Speaking from experience, the worst part of working with a book like this is installation.
I have an 'Oracle 81 Starter Kit' book at home gathering dust because I simply
could not get it to install, not being an experienced Oracle DBA.
This one looks better thus far. I'm further along already than I ever got with
the Oracle book.

Hey everbody. Been haveing a problem with the Skype client the past few days. The other day, from no where, I could no longer connect to Skype. Have tryed everthing I know. Restarting, re-installing, changeing harddrive and restarting over and over again. Can´t figure out why this has happend. I meen, I just Skype on a dayli basis, and now all of the sudent, I cant even log in. Tryed logging in on my android and my laptop. Flawless. But my computer wont have it. If someone has a clue what this is, please respond. My friend told me he had the "same" problem, but it whent away after restarting after re-installing. Quess how many times i´ve tryed that. Emergency: cannot start database because redo logs have been deleted

Hi. Ok, so the redo logs are deleted and I don't have a backup. Fine, whatever. I am trying to just start my database and start the logging from scratch.
ORA-00320: cannot read file header from log 1 of thread 1
ORA-00312: online log 1 thread 1: '/u01/oradata/orcl/redo01.log'
ORA-27069: attempt to do I/O beyond the range of the file
Here's what my log files look like:
select group#, thread#, status from v$log;

2 1 CURRENT
I have group 3 and 4 just sitting there. I would love to switch logging from group 1 to group 4 (which I just created) so I can drop the corrupted group 1 but when I try:
SQL> alter system switch logfile;

ORA-01109: database not open
Of course the database is not open because I can't get it started. So, I'm in kind of a catch 22.

Cannot start from the system after rescue and recovery

I have T42 and did "restore factory contents." In the process, I use IBM product recovery CD from 1 to 6 and reboot. However it does not start from Windows XP but IBM rescue and recovery with rapid restore. I cannot get out form this although I restart the computer. I appreciate any advice. Thanks.

My memory is a little fuzzy on this, but IIRC some of the older laptops used a 2-step recovery process. You first did the recovery from CD which put the recovery image and restore program on the HD. One the next boot, the restore program starts, and you select to restore your drive from there.
So, do the recovery from media, reboot to the newly installed restore program, and select to restore your hard drive.

I cannot start iTunes because the program can't find 'My music' folder

I had a fairly hefty PC crash yesterday, and I cannot now start my iTunes software. The error message is: "The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the 'My Music' folder."
I had been keeping my library in an external disk drive, that had - until the crash - been my 'G' drive. Post crash it now calls itself the 'K' drive.
All I can presume is that the software is pointed towards the old 'G' drive.
My music is still intact, but I just cannot connect to it.
Can anybody help, please?

your registry will probably still be looking for the My Music folder on your K drive. (the "My Music" folder has special registry properties.)
so let's try shifting the drive letter on that drive back to "K". for instructions on shifting drive letters, see the following document. (although it's about changing the drive letter of an iPod, the same basic principle apply to changing the drive letters of other drives.)

Nevertheless, when I execute firestarter (as root and after xhost +) I get a window saying:

Firestarter will now close.

My PCMCIA-GPIB cannot start in win2000 system, tne error code is code 10

I installed the Driver V1.60 on my PC,and the PC can identify the card as PCMCIA-GPIB.But It cannot tested pass,as I open the Device manager,I can see the card is errored as "cannoe start,the error code is code 10",

This type of problem is difficult to diagnose without getting more information. Does it pass Diagnostics? If it fails, what part fails. Error 10 is not a common GPIB error. First I recommend going to http://www.ni.com/support/gpib/pnp2000/default.htm to troubleshoot.

I cannot start firefox because of a security problem after it crashed. What should I do to fix it?

I use Vista on my dell inspiron 1721. Firefox closed itself, computer shut itself down, a lot of 'corrupted files' were deleted without my interference, and when Vista finally came back up, Firefox wouldn't start.
