Cannot start the setup of Oracle Client 8.1.6 on Pentium 4 Windows 2000 Professional
I need to install the Oracle Client 8.1.6 on a Compaq Evo D500 Workstation running Pentium 4 1.5GHz with 20G hard disk 128MB ram with OS Windows 2000 Professional. The autorun screen popup but no response when I press the Install/Uninstall products. The machine had installed the Oracle Developer/2000 runtime and running healthy. Does anyone know the fix for this problem?
I have the same problem with 8.1.7 on an ACER Veriton 7200 1.7 GHz , 20GB + 120 GB HD 768 MB Memory.
It happens under NT 4.0 Server SP6 and 2000 Server SP2.
The changing of Graphics Card from AGP to PCI does not solving the problem.
Different graphics resolution and colors also.

I'm facing this problem:
When my .Net application tries to access the DB, I get this error message above.
The application is into the same machine of DB and the operational system is Windows Server Enterprise 64 bits.
I'm comparing to another machine that has the same scenario but runs in Windows Vista 64 bits. This problem doesn't happen and I can normally access the DB.
The both database versions are 10g Release 2 (10.2) and all components from Oracle Database Components 10.2.0.2.21 are installed as the containing bellow:

Often the error "The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client" is raised when the unmanaged dll OraOpsX.dll can't be found, can't be loaded, or is the wrong version. For version 10.2.0.x of ODP.NET and .NET Framework 2.x the file should be called "OraOps10w.dll" and should be found in the %ORACLE_HOME%\bin directory.
Since the ODAC pieces are installed on the same host as the database, are they in a separate Oracle Home or the same Oracle Home as the database software? If there are multiple Oracle Home directories, which one is in the system path first?
I would start with verifying the version of OraOps10w.dll and the system path on the server. You might also confirm that the Oracle Home directory (and everything under it) has the following permissions for Authenticated Users:
- Read & Execute
- List folder contents
- Read

My report Fetch from the orcle database , we installed Oracle 10g and 11g - clent 32 -bit on win 2k8 -64 bit machine .while design time runing fine,but ofter depolyement im facing below issue.

Based on the error message, we should confirm whether Oracle client tool has been installed on the Report Server at the beginning. If the Report Server installed is 64-bit, we should also install a 64-bit Oracle client tool on the Report Server. Besides, we
can also try to bypass tnsnames.ora file when connecting to Oracle by specifying all the information in the data source instead of using the TNS alias to connect
to the Oracle database. Please see the sample below:

I have tried refreshing the user GUIDS, loading another rpd file in through EM that I know works fine in another environment, cleaning the permissions in the web catalog but all so dar have not resulted in me being able to start the presentation server.
I would welcome any feedback on this as it is driving me crazy!

Starting the datapump jobs from client side

datapump is server side utility means we can not invoke it from client. but in documents (oracle).
they r talking that we can start the datapump job from client(Sqlplus) but the dmp files will be saved and the process will run on the server side

The correct understanding should be that it's configured only for server side which means, that the folder where the dump files would be created would be available on a folder which must be there on the server side and over which, proper permissions must be available to you in the form of Directory object. There is no such thing that it can't be invoked sitting on the client side. It surely can but unlike the traditional export, there is no facility available anymore to give absolute file paths which would store the file on the local client machine.

The dump files location would indeed be on the server side only.

Can't connect to X11 window server using 'local_host:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
The installer can not connect to a display device. Fix the DISPLAY variable and it'll work, or at least get ot the next step. (How to fix ... this is one for Google.)
Edit: Make sure you have the version of openmotif specified in the install manual, not just the default one included with the OS. -
Cannot start the source application for this object - Embedded PDF in Excel 2007
I am having a real issue which unfortunately is intermittant and I cannot pinpoint what is causing the problem. Basically I am inserting a PDF object into an Excel worksheet and immediately after I insert it, it will open fine. If you click off into another cell and save the sheet, then try to reopen the embedded PDF, you get the error "cannot start the source application for this object".
Any help would be very much appreciated! Has anyone else run into this?I got that problem with one of my client after updating from Adobe Reader 8.2 to 9.3.1. Excel version was 2002 and not 2007 but this is Adobe problem.
Check that registry key for you Acrobat Document key points to right AcroRead32.exe path at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32
of whatever key points to your Acrobat Document.
I used Sysinternals Procmon to monitor registry activity and found a line and opened that registry location and found out Adobe Reader 8.0 path there.

I have seen that Adobe Reader 9.3 doesn't update that registry and leaves Adobe Reader 8.0 values there. Same problem may be in other upgrade scenarios too.
In addition to that my Windows 7 with Office 2007 that has never had anything but Adobe Reader 9.x versions didn't had anything on that registry location and it gave me same "cannot start the source application for this object" error. Putting that path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to LocalSever Default value fixed that too. Maybe Adobe should do something with this issue? -
Canon MP560 - Cannot start the mp navigator ex
I set up my Canon MP560 a few days ago, and for the most part, it's working ok. I'm using the device over my wireless network and set it up on the network w/ Wifi Protected Setup. I installed the print/scan drivers, and I can print wirelessly and scan wirelessly with Image Capture. My end goal is to be able to scan TO my computer (wirelessly) from the printer. Right now, the menu only offers to scan to a computer connected via USB.
I was hoping Canon's MP Navigator software would help, so I installed it. When I tried to start it up, I got the following error: Cannot start the mp navigator ex (See this screenshot: http://grab.by/6xsA)
Looking at an earlier thread about a similar printer, I installed the MP Navigator opener for OS X 10.6. This didn't help either.
Anyone have any ideas?Figured it out - I need to install "MP560 series MP Driver Ver.1.0 for Network"
MP Navigator works, and I can send scans to my computer FROM the printer, which is what I wanted.
Unfortunately, that install screwed the pooch. MP Navigator seems bloated, and I hate how the Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector sits up in my task bar without a way to quit it. I don't think I scan enough to keep it up there 24/7, so I guess I'll just use it when I need it...

Oracle DB: 10.2.0
OS: RHEL5
Successfully installed db and created the database.
but after reboot of machine I cannot start the database.
I have tried all the possible means( i deleted the listener and tns, recreated again rebooted etc etc)

What network were you connected to when you installed the database?
After you rebooted are you still connected to the same network?
Has the IP Address changed?
How is "HOST" defined in your listener.ora tnsnames.ora files?
Oracle 10g dot anything is currently in desupport mode. It would be far better to install 11gR2 at this point in time. -

WenI don't have any solution to this problem but just wanted to share my thoughts. It seems to me like there might be a problem with either "Reflection X" setup or any custom X properties defined on the server where your console is running. I use Reflection X with NDS installed on solaris box but I never had this problem. I have seen similar errors when using X terminal and in those cases my properties were defines incorrectly.

The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client
We are running Server 2012 64 bit with multiple homes one is 32 bit and the other 64 bit. We installed the 64 bit first then the 32 bit next in order to get our Classic ASP WebSite that is using COM+ and OLEDB to see the provider.

The other Websites are ASP.Net 4.0 and are running in 64 bit application pools. They are using a DAL .Net assembly built x64 with a reference to the 64 bit ODP.Net version 4.121.1.0 in C:\oracle\product\12.1.0\X64\client_1\odp.net\bin\4.
I also see there is another folder C:\oracle\product\12.1.0\X64\odac_1\odp.net\bin\2.x with version 2.121.2.0. We are on running Framework 4.0 but when I switch to this version it works but with the version out of the bid\4 we are receiving the following error when the 64 bit Websites call the assembly:

Oracle Client/ODP build with certified Visual C++ Libraries so application using ODP.NET requires "runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries" to be installed.
Oracle Database Client installation includes the Visual C++ Libraries but ODAC doesn't contain these libraries which may cause such issue.
Please check the Note 43208.1 for the particular version of Visual C++ installs with Oracle Database Client installation(e.g. 11.2.0 Database Client installs Visual C++ .NET 2005) and also you can refer the windows event log error massage to verify which version of Visual C++ is missing.
