Cannot stay connected to internet

Every 2-3 days the router will not let me access the internet.  get message--" you are connected to the access point but the internet cannot be found"..I fix it by unplugging the router for 15 seconds, replug and wait 2-3 minutes and I'm on line.  router is SRX200.  Had a linksys "b" system same location and it stayed on line for a year.  I have one wired computer and 1 wireless hooked up--the wireless is really hard to get reset.  The help people in India are no help on this. I'm ready to throw this in the trash bin.  Appreciate any help.
SRX200, Win XP on wired comp, Win 2000 on wireless
FYI, the SRX 200 doesn't seem to have any better range or speed regardless how it's advertised

Update----the router kicked off in 24 hours.
I tried to update the firmware-it's old even though the router is new--and the router kicked off line at the last part of the firmware update.  Cannot connect to anything now.  Called support and they were able to get me back connected with the updated firmware.  Actually did a very good job getting me connected.  So we'll see if the new firmware will solve anything. FYI, the text of the update specifically mentions the "you are connected when in fact you aren't" problem

  • How do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet. other laptops remain connected but ipad just disconnects after about 5 seconds.

how do you resolve the problem of ipad not staying connected to internet when other devices are connected. Ipad disconnects after about 5 seconds.

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.
If none of the above suggestions work, look at this link.

  • IPhone 4 does not stay connected to internet over 3G+

I have an iPhone 4 on the telus network running the latest version of the os 4.3.3. My phone will not stay connected to the Internet most of the time. It looses connection and won't reconnect until I turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. It also looses connection if I have wifi on and it detects a network but choose not to connect to it. I have restored my phone and it fixed the problem for half a day before it started again. I only have a couple months warranty left, is this covered do you think?

I don't have another phone to try. I took out the sim to check for deffects but it looked fine. Cleaned the sim card with alcohol and cleaned the aim compartment. Phone didn't loose Internet connection all day yesterday, but this morning went to check emails and wouldn't update until I turned airplane mode on then off again.

  • Please Help, My macbook won't stay connected to internet idk what to do

Hello, i just bought my macbook pro. Its a Mac OS X ver. 10.5.7 with a 2.26GHz processor.
    I have a Netgear 54mbps wireless router WGR614 v8 and a Motorola SB5100 SURFboard Cable modem.
Now the problem im having is with the internet connection with my mac. I live in Virginia and It was working before i went on vacation to tennessee which is an hour behind virginia. It was able to connect with no problems. It was also connecting fine in tennessee as well. But when i came back to Virginia, the mac would connect to my router or atleast say its connected but i can't use the internet at all. I would load either firefox, safari, or itunes store and the page would begin to load and then stop loading in the middle. As if it was freezing, dropping the connection or something. When i look through the airport connectivity, it would stay connected to my router with still no access to the internet. I also checked to make sure i was in the correct time zone with my mac and it was correct.I have a wii, xbox, original pc that are connected to router that operate perfectly. its just my macbook wont connect wirelessly when it used to before i went to tennesse and took it with me. Some of the error messages that i get when i try to use the internet via macbook now are "can't open page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection" but then minutes later it would connect again, then internet would work. But shortly after it would stop working for a while. and the process continues like a cycle. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE IM CLUELESS. i've looked at many forums but no solution.

I've been having the same problem for the last 2 weeks, because it's a macbook air it's completely useless!
I spent a tenner on a usb/ethernet cable but it's not Mac Compatable, to buy an official one is going to cost ...god knows. But this machine comes with no superdrive, no ethernet, no adapter for an ethernet. The least they can do is make sure the wifi works! I think I upgraded the OS, but I can't be sure if that coincided with the crap internet speeds.
I'm really angry now, I don't have the time to take it down to shop, and looking on the internet it appears this is really common problem. It's a beautiful machine, but if I knew it was going to be this much hassle I wouldn't have bothered. This is the first and last time I will buy a mac.

  • Won't stay connected to internet

I bought a new macbook pro 2011 with lion osx last week.  I stay connected to the internet at home with no problem,
but when i use it at work (work for government) it kicks me off every 30 seconds and i have to keep looking for and logging
back into the internet......i have a feeling it's a setting i don't have set correctly for wireless communication.  Several of my
coworkers have mac's and other types of pc's and they have no problem staying connected.  I could not get apple to answer
(thought they were open 24/7????) and the geek squad recommended everything i've done already, ie take down firewall/put
firewall backup/take off smartsurf/reinstall smartsurf.....i can't figure this out, can anyone help?  Work is a T3 network.
I have bluetooth and it is on and also set to "wifi".......thanks!

Try restarting while holding the shift key, to get Safe Mode (you WILL have to enter your password). This does one cycle of Disk Repair as the Mac starts up, then loads the minimal number of extensions. If the problem is "cured" your add-ons are the problem.
If you are using DHCP, the Router's Firewall is all the protection you need, and the Firewall on the individual computers can be turned off.
If you are using an Admin account for daily use, consider creating a new Admin, and using it to demote your current account to a "regular" User account. This will give you protection against malware, because nothing can install without putting up an authentication box and demanding the Admin password. Smartsurf would not be necessary after you do this.

  • My Mac won't stay connected to Internet after Leopard upgrade

Suddenly after upgrading to Leopard, both Safari and Mail report that Mac OS X isn't staying connected to the Internet. I'm using AirPort and a cable modem and it's always been reliable before. But now there seems to be something jumpy/fishy going on in the AirPort menu in Leopard's menu bar. The list of available networks changes very often and although my own network remains checked, Network Diagnostics shows that I am indeed getting disconnected often and for long lengths of time. But everytime I restart my Mac, my Internet connection is restored.
I had fully expected BETTER networking in Leopard, not WORSE.

So sorry, I have not checked back to Discussions til tonight. You have undoubtedly solved your problem. But just in case not...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451 is where I learned about Soft and Hard Resetting of the Airport base stations. There is also a Factory reset that's not really on this page.
After I Hard set, I then went into Leopard's new interface for the AirPort Utility. Very straight forward to configure to set your station(s) up again. I've not had a problem since.
Again, soooooo sorry I didn't drop in sooner with this information.

  • Stay Connected to Internet Dialog Box

When I am connected to the internet, in 20 minute intervals I get a dialog box asking me if i want to stay connected or if I want to disconnect. If I'm downloading a file and don't catch it in time, it just disconnects. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Hi Buttersandwichman,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I am guessing that you are connecting with your internal modem, correct? If so, go to System Preferences > Network > Show: Internal Modem > PPP Options (button under Save Password); uncheck Prompt every __ minutes to maintain connect as well as Disconnect if idle for 10 minutes.
    I hope that helps,
    Jon

  • Help - cannot stay connected: BT dun with Verizon Centro and Macbook Pro Leopard (Broadband access customer too)

Previously a Treo 770p user who enjoyed laptop freedom using Verizon's Broadband connect - never a problem.  Now ready to throw the Centro out the window, as no amount of restarting, taking battery out, scripting changes etc. etc. etc. etc. works - everything I have tried disconnects me within seconds.  Verizon of course does not support the Centro BT DUN with the Mac.  But everything worked fine wiuth the Treo - why not the Centro?  I am about ready to cancel my broadband access, or go back to the Treo - ugh.  Not even the USB cable works with the Centro/MACbook Pro - then again it did not work with the Treo either, but the BTDUN did!
    Ideas?  Fixes?
    Thanks.
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

i don't know whats going on now!

  • Connected to wifi but can't stay connected to internet

I currently have a curve 9300, and my service provider is Telus Mobility. I am connected to wifi and up till about 3 days ago everything was working fine, now it shows I am connected, but I can only get on internet for about 5 mins, I have to shut off all my connections then reconnect them for it to work again. Any ideas as to the problem?

OK...then, with your WiFi radio OFF (e.g., solely running on your carrier data network), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!
If not, then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, does the behavior still present? If not, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
If the behavior does still present in Safe Mode, then you may want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
    Good luck!

  • Airport Card Won't Stay Connected to Internet

I recently installed an original Airport Card in my iMac DV 400 SE Slot Loading. OS 10.3.9 recognizes it and will occasionally connect to the internet using Safari. But after a minute or so it drops out and is impossible to restart the connection. It will occasionally reconnect but I don't seem to be able to duplicate the steps. Anyone had experience with this?

Try reseating the airport card by removing it and putting it back in, and while you're in there, unplug the antennae wire and plug it back in. Might just be a bad connection.

  • WiFi stays connected but internet keeps dropping

    Hi all
Got a number of wired and wireless devices on my home network, all fed by my BT HomeHub 3.
What I've noticed recently is that both my iPad and my wife's Samsung Galaxy Tab keep dropping the internet connection. The WiFi connection appears to be unaffected. We're also getting issues with other wireless devices, but to a lesser extent as we use those considerably less.
I've done all the troubleshooting I can think of to date. I've done a hard reset on my ipad, reset network settings, restored the ipad, changed the web key, but as I'm sitting here tonight not 6 feet away from my router I'm still getting internet disconnection, whilst still full bars on my wifi connection.
I've already done numerous router reboots, and now considering a factory reset. Any other suggestions? Possibly a faulty router, or too many devices on my network?

OK, full reset done on the HH3.
I haven't touched the Channel seletion at all, and it's returned the following:
Here's the results from my WiFi analyser:
My main WiFi from my router (TvLounge) is showing on channel 6.  I also have another BT HomeHub 2 connected off a PowerLine adapter acting purely as a switch / WiFi access point on channel 9 (OldLounge) and finally an all-in-one PowerLine adapter and WiFi access point on channel 13 (CharlottesRoom).
As soon as I have reset the router i restored the SSID and WPA / WPA2 password to as it was beore. Directly after this, all devices successfully reconnected, and I immediately had intermittent WiFi issues on all connected devices (still connected to the router but loss of internet). At the time I was connected with x2 iPads, x1 Samsung Galaxy Tab, x1 Android phone.  Throughout this time I was still able to connect to the internet via my server.

  • I can't stay connected to internet. I've changed my location. Same thing. All my other devices are working fine. How can I get my iMac back online?

I am unable to connect to the internet.  WiFi, ethernet all working fine. Multiple devices can connect to the internet. Diagnostic on iMac says I'm connected and should be able to access the internet.  This is all beyond me.  I've changed the location, it appeared to set every thing up. Still doen't work. It must be corrupted so how do I clean it up?

    Power Cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait for few  minutes.
Connect the router back to to the wall.
Power the router back on. Wait  until all lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.
