Cannot stop my pointer from blinking (hour glass also blinks on and off incessantly)

Several weeks ago my pointer blinks constantly (unless it's over a hyperlink or other selection item). The hourglass also blinks along with it. I have tried everythink in the control panel, but nothing works.

Hi and thanks for joining HP Forums. There are many different processes which can cause your mouse to blink in this manner. Here is a good thread where several different people have found what caused their issues and were able to resolve them. Fresh download setup-cannot stop t'bird from downloading ALL email for months where t'bird uninstalled -- using my webmail online

I had to reinstall W7 in June 2014. When I did, I didn't download T'bird again--waiting for issues not related to T'bird to get fixed. I just used the web email since I was mostly getting news letter, etc.. Now I need it to write personal email. OK, I downloaded T'Bird today and , well it configures automatically actually, BUT I cannot stop it from downloading mail between June and present. . (that have already read on web mail).
HOW can I get it to stop downloading 245 old emails? I do know I can get a completely new email as was shown at first email. but I didn't know anything about that and needed to get going writing personal emails?? Help!

It is because it was a clean install for T'bird these emails are all new.
When you start using your old profile T'bird wil only get the new emails.
Your old profile should still be there and you can view the folder if you make invisible folders visible.

Can't figure out how to stop my MBP from opening programs at startup, namely word and messages

Recenty my MBPro has started opening MS Word and Messages at startup and I can't figure out how to stop it? I've tried selecting and de-selcting the startup option from the dock but this doesn't help. Does anyone have any suggestions?

System Preferences has a setting for this.
In the Users & Groups section you will fine a "Login Items" header. This is a list of all the programs that will open automatically when you log in. You can select any program and click the [--] button below that window to stop the program from opening automatically.

Iphone stopped receiving emails from verizon; error message wrongly says username and PW incorrect

Yesterday (10/21/13) my iphone 3 stopped receiving emails from my verizon account and error message says &quot;the user name or password for verizon in incorrect,&quot; even though I know the user name and password are correct and I am receiving emails from verizon on my ipad and I mac. In addition, after I &quot;reset.&quot; the phone by pressing the &quot;home&quot; and &quot;off&quot; buttons together until the apple logo appeared, I lost all of the emails that were on the iphone's mailboxes. Here is the solution given to me by a very helpful Verizon phone agent. Go to your Verizon mail account under settings. Under Incoming Mail server, change host name to pop.verizon.net.
Under Outgoing Mail Server, change host name to smtp.verizon.net.
Make sure Use SSL is on for Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers.
She said the above is the solution that has worked for most people who are having trouble receiving and or sending Verizon emails from their Iphones since Monday October 21. She said that if this solution did not work, it is then an Apple problem and I would then need to go to Apple's email client support for troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages (for MAC in my case). After writing down all of the passwords and configurations for verizon email currently on my phone, including the new host names above, I ended up deactiving my verizon email account and then reimputing all of the passwords, configurations, ... . It worked! My verizon email was back and running.

How to stop mouse pointer from being included on screenshots

Hey guys I was hoping someone could help me with this problem.
I am creating a software simulation and have decided to use Captivate 6. When capturing the appropriate screenshots i have noticed that the mouse pointer is being included with these. I DO NOT want the mouse pointer to be included within the screenshot.
I know how to disable the mouse pointer when setting my preferences before creaing the simulation, however, the mouse pointer is still being included in the screenshots. Here is an example below.. Can anyone help me?

Example: I orginally wanted to show the user's log in menu, but once I clicked "Login" the mouse pointer stuck to the screenshot. I don't want this mouse pointer to be there

I actually chose Demo and assessment. The mouse is not what I want to see in the slides. The timeline does not show a mouse at all because I have that functionality disabled. What I really want is to essentially replicate an application. I want the user to be able to start this captivate project from a flash drive and actually have the applications GUI with limited functionality (for training purposes). I am starting to think there is a problem with the application I am trying to replicate. I have a software product that I must start on a virtual machine. Once the virtual machine is up and running then can I actually start the application. I have already done two of these with different applications and had no problem at all with the mouse pointer disappearing. This one, however, is being very difficult. Maybe its because im using QNX?

Cannot stop google-analytics from loading

I have tried the Firefox add-ons but try to load a page, and bottom left corner says google-analytics, and page I asked for will not load. The only way to stop it is to take out "Enable Java Script". Why on earth do they do this, also you get redirectd to other sites, nothing to do with what you asked for.

Some websites use tracking code made by Google (called Google Analytics) to track the traffic on their sites. It unfortunately requires JavaScript so you'll have to run it in order to go to that sites. Although there might be some fixes around to solve this issue, but I am not aware of that.

Cannot remove autocomplete entry from address bar; have already cleared history, and entry is not in the drop-down menu of the address bar either.

I am having problems removing an autocomplete entry from my address bar; I have tried clearing my history, so it's no longer in that, and I do not have it bookmarked either, so it's not getting the URL from that location either. The autocomplete entry isn't even showing up in the drop down menu, so I can't even scroll through that to delete it.
Basically, I want to be able to type "st" and go to "store.steampowered.com"; however, despite numerous times of typing in "st" and then going down into the drop-down menu to choose "store.steampowered.com", the bar continues to autocomplete "steamtrades.com", which is exceptionally annoying because I do not have that website bookmarked, or in my history, yet it continues to autocomplete to that address, which I do not want it to autocomplete to, and cannot figure out how to remove because I've already cleared my history multiple times, do not have it bookmarked, and it is not showing up in the drop down of the address bar for me to go down and force delete it.

Did you try to remove some letters from steamtrades.com to see if that bring this entry up in the drop-down list?
If it is not in the history then it might be present with a typed=1 flag indicating that you have typed or pasted it in the location bar.
You can use the SQLite Manager extension in Firefox to inspect the places.sqlite file to see if this entry comes up in the moz_places table.

How do I stop Fire fox from down loading adds about fat women and up dates

I use Windows 7 the browser Internet Explorer is troublesome with banking programs, so I changed to Fire Fox BUT there are too many add on's, you never know what it is going to do next one minute it giving out security messages, the next it is using popups to advertise weight reduction and trying to get me to up date something to play music .
I don't want all that shite, I remember years ago I used Mozilla but it made such a big deal out of everything I got rid of it, is there a version I could buy just so I don't have to put up with that rubbish of jiggling adds?
I do not want flashy, look at me sort of software, I want soft ware that is a quiet achiever , just do the job and wait till you ask for help then dangle your adds.
I f you can't suggest a remedy then it's going , the way of the DODO never to return .
And I don't want some " piss in your pocket excuse" fix it or delete
And when I do try to change it and ask for support I get answers like "Firefox prevented this site ( support.mozilla.org) from asking you to install software on your computer"
Then when you press ok I get "The add on could not be downloaded because a connection failure on support.mozilla.org"
I have tried the manual steps but there is no Trobleshooting information on this page , there is no help on this page.
I think you guys are on another planet or you smoke too much weed, I fact I might delete it now and not wait for you to come out of the basement with an answer and i see at he bottom you already have educated guesses as to what is wrong, I know what is wrong, "too many add on stuff" you must have a line in the software that goes something like " when in doubt put another pop up in goto line 7 put another popup in.

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

I cannot export to pdf from Indesign... I export and then nothing happens. Can someone please help?

Indesign worked well for a long time. Then recently, after I and to reset my computer to an earlier time, Indesign stopped letting me export to PDF. I get no error message. It is just that nothing happens after I export it. I have some major deadlines for printin and am desperate for help. I emailed the Indesign file to someone else and they were able to export it and create a PDF.
I look forward to any suggestions. I would gladly pay someone if they can get it to work again.

@ (peterfrommaine)-peter – since you use InDesign CS5.5, be aware that there is a bug (at least up to version 7.5.2) with PDF export with books that could mess up your page numbers. You are not affected, because you printed to PDF (that is the "print-PostScript-distill-to-PDF" way).

OS X is all about keyboard shortcuts.
To cut       cmd+x
To copy     cmd+c
To paste    cmd+v
With the Mouse, hold command and drag to your destination.

Cannot open tiscali mail from firefox though can open other programs and can open tiscali mail in IE

I use tiscali for mail. I can get to it with no problem at all in Internet Explorer. In Firefox I cannot get to it, though I can get to other programs.
