Cannot subscribe to public calendars

I need to get a hold of public holidays in Spain and the UK. When trying to subscribe to the iCals from Apple's website I get an error message, that the server is down or somthing.
I've been trying this for 3 days now and it annoys me...
I'm trying this import this calendar: webcal://ical.mac.com/ical/Spain32Holidays.ics
PowerMac G5 1.8 DP, MBP   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

rubberbandman,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I just successfully subscribed to the calendar that you referenced.
If you are interested, there are two other Spanish Holiday calendars available on iCalShare.

  • Cannot add icloud public calendar to outlook

I work and live in a mixed Mac/PC environment.  The PCs are Windows 7 professional with Outlook 2010.  The Macs are Yosemite.  I would like to be able to subscribe to a public icloud calendar on one of the PCs.  We could do this a week ago.
Now when we add the calendar it crashes Outlook.  Furthermore, I noticed that the calendar address no longer ends in .ics which Outlook requires.
The new icloud control panel crashed Outlook as well.
I tried joining the private calendar and it does not show up in Outlook either.
Is the new icloud interface not ready for prime time?
    Any solutions or work arounds?
Thank you in advance for any help,
    Debbie

My Mac's not yet on Yosemite, so Yosemite's not the culprit.
An iCloud calendar populated from an iPad that I previously shared with my Outlook 2010 client on Windows 7 without error caused Outlook to crash, when Outlook initiated a sync attempt with my subscribed calendars, today (13th November 2014).  Removing the calendar subscription allowed Outlook to run without crashing. Re-subscribing using the iCloud-provided public calendar URL once again cause Outlook 2010 to crash.
My Windows 7 PC and Office 2010 are current with all updates as of 13th November 2014.

  • Cannot Subscribe to Google Calendar?

My wife and i both have Google accounts: hers is free, mine is Google Apps.
I would like to have her appointments (read-only) in my iPad calendar, in a different color from mine.
I was able to set this up the other way around for her (my appointments  in her iPad calendar in a different color) by getting a private iCal URL from my Google account and using it to create a new subscribed calendar on her iPad.
Unfortunately, the converse does not work.  When I try to create a subscribed calendar on my iPad using an iCal URL from her Google account, iOS (7.04) complains first that it cannot connect via SSL, then if I "Continue", it says that it cannot verify the connection.  If I persist and save the new account, no data is ever populated in the newly subscribed calendar.  I can add the (optional) login parameters from either Google account and/or switch SSL on and off, but to no effect.  In each case, the connection is not verified and no data is populated.
Of course, I can get read-only access to her appointments by sharing her calendar to my Google account, but then they appear in the same color as my appointments.
Why does the iCal subscription work for my appointments on her iPad, and not for hers on mine?  What other options do I have to achieve my stated goal?

  • Cannot subscribe to iCal server calendars

    HI all,
This issue is driving me crazy
I have setup this OS X 10.6.4 server.  DNS is good.  OD is good and Kerberos is started and the DNS name is in caps.
I can publish calendars but I cannot subscribe to any calendar that is published.
Can anyone give some additional insight as the the cause?

    Hi NorrComm,
Can you provide a link to a published calendar? With port forwarding enabled that should generate the same error externally as well as internally. Can you visit the address in safari to check whether the studio account can be accessed. It could be a permissions issue.
Why do you want to publish a calendar? You could consider to delegate permissions for the account Studio to other users without write access. That should work as well.
Furthermore upgrade your server to the latest OSX build 10.6.8, so any bugs or other known issues with previous releases of OSX are fixed.
    Goodluck!

  • How do I see who has subscribed to my public calendar?

The short and sweet of it is I would like to set up a calendar that clients can subscribe to in order to see when I am and I am not available. I have successfully set up a calendar that is public and know how to send the link: the problem is I do not know who has and has not subscribed to the calendar. Is there a way to view a list of my subscribers? (iPhone calendars)

I have purchased a Palm LifeDrive with with WiFi capability. I have not been able to get the Blazer browser to connect to the internet. I have configured the Palm device correctly it appears. The Palm can detect a signal from the Airport network (the indicator bar is green and at full strength). Access control has been granted to the LifeDrive using the Airport Admin Utility. I have also set the security to WEP (5 figures) on both the Airport network and the Palm LifeDrive to have the same password. I know that the Blazer browser that comes with the Palm device works. I was at a friends home where he has a wireless Verizon network for his Macs. The question is, has anyone been able to get a Palm device with WiFi to work on an Airport network? How does one set up the network and the device to communicate? The Palm One site was not helpfu

  • Subscribe to a public calendar on windows

I am ready to send out a public calendar link created in Calendar 7.0.  What do the Windows people need on their PC's to view my calendar?

    Hello there, eljnlm.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great information on that matter:
Mac Basics: Calendar keeps your appointments
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5978
    Particularly the tip that follows:
    Publish your calendar
To make a calendar viewable by others, follow these steps.
    Choose Edit > Share Calendar
Enter the names of people from your contacts list or email addresses that you want to share this calendar with.
If you want anyone to be able to subscribe to your calendar from the Internet, select the option for Public Calendar.
A URL is provided that you can send to others so that they can see the calendar. Click the share button next to the URL to send it directly to a recipient using the built-in sharing options in OS X.
Tip: Any calendar application that is compatible with the icalendar standard can subscribe to your calendar using this URL.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • Can't Subscribe to Google Calendars after Migration to Mountain Lion

I had my work Google canendars synciing fine with iCal on my old desktop running Lion.  After migrating to a new Mac Book with Mountain Lion, I cannot subscribe to my gCal's.  The error I get is "Server With Secure Communication Unavalable", which makes no sence.
    I've tried:
Chosing to use the calendar when adding the gMail account to Mail.app
Enabling the Calendar under the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" Preference pane
Adding the account using Calendar.app's Preferences.
The suggestions I've been able to find don't apply, because we are not using Google's two-step validation.
Did Mountain Lion break something with the Google-Apps flavor of gCal?  Is there a way to add via URL?  I tried that using Safari, but it did not work well (created a iCloud Calendar, wouldn't allow me to change the assigned color and repeatedly threw an error for the same over a year-old event despite clicking the "Ignore" button).
    Ray

Found a work-around.  I don't know if this applies to all Google calendars, or just the Google-Apps ones:
Add the calendar as a generic CalDAV calendar.  Use your full (hosted) gMail address as the username and www.google.com as the server address.
Interrestingly, ML matched this up to the main Google account in the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" Preference Pane

  • Can't subscribe to iCloud calendar

I am trying to subscribe to my iCloud personal calendar on my work PC using Lotus Notes 8.5. I have shared the calendar but when I try to subscribe Lotus Notes says the URL does not 'conform to the iCalendar parsing specification." - any ideas on how to subscribe are welcome....
    Cheers

It only works for public calendars not for private ones. I have added the details in

But how would you do it for a privately shared caledar?

  • How can we see attendee tracking for meetings in a public calendar?

    Good Day,
We have a Public Calendar that is used to create company wide meetings. When my enduser creates a meeting on this public calendar, he cannot see who has accepted or declined the meeting. He has access to the Tracking button in the Ribbon. Tracking
does show all who were invited. Tracking only shows "None" in the Response field.
I did some testing and when I attempted to create a meeting with attendees, I was met with the following alert pop up.
"This meeting is not in the Calendar folder for this account. Responses to this meeting will not be tallied."
How do we create meetings on the public calendar and be able to review attendee responses? This is MS Outlook 2013, and the exchange is MS  365. Also, I created a Calendar within the users account and was met with the same response.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
You meet the message because responses are only automatically processed when the meeting is in the default calendar. As mentioned, you are using a public calendar.
To workaround this problem in your scenario, you will need to track the response manually.
Open the meeting request and switch to the tracking page. Right click in the response field and choose the desired response.

  • ICal and access to Public Calendars on Exchange

    Dear all
I've been reading as much as I can on this subject, and all I've found so far is that it works, but you need Exchange 2007 and SP2. Well, I've finally been able to upgrade my exchange 2007 server to SP2, but now I can't find any documentation on how you actually access those public calendars.
By public calendars, I mean that calendars stored in the Public Folders tree on the exchange server, not calendars associated with a mailbox or resource mailbox.
    Things I've tried,
    - Subscribing to the calendar using the OWA web address of the calendar - failed
    - Setting up delegate access, but only mailbox calendars are shown - failed
    - Tried removing and recreating my Mail/iCal/Address book settings in Snow Leopard, no change - failed
I hope I'm just missing something, and that this is actually possible to do.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Same problem here. I previously used Entourage (2004) and had access to the public calendar (we'll call it "Jumper"), but I get an error when trying to connect to Jumper in iCal. When I try to connect I get "The server responded with an error: There was an unexpected error with the request (domain EWSExchangeWebServicesErrorDomain / error 94)." I notice when I go to the "Window" menu there are several listings of Jumper (I'm assuming each failed attempt created a window). Selecting those windows opens a blank calendar with Jumper listed in the left column and the exclamation point next to it. Clicking the exclamation point brings up the message "iCal can't refresh the account 'Jumper'." I'd hate to go back to Entourage as well, especially since the version our company provides is PPC based.
I'm not sure, but it could be in my case it's because the host of the public calendar may still be in the old email server (2003). They had to move my account over to the 2007 server in order for iCal to work with it. Don't know if this helps anyone else, but I'm going to request that the host be moved to the 2007 server and see what happens. I'll report back on my findings.

  • Ical subscriptions error message "Cannot Subscribe"

I have followed all the directions on adding ical subscriptions to iPhone (Yes running 3.0) and I keep getting the following error messages even though I have cut and pasted the ical url into an email.
    Cannot Subscribe
Could not subscribe to the calendar "lorenslocum" from "ical.mac.com"
Very perplexed....and any insight would be greatly appreciated!

In getting the answer to my removal question from a poster, I discovered another method to add subscribed calendars, one that includes authentication settings.
If you go to your Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Accounts, click on the Add Account... option. Then select Other at the bottom. You'll next see a screen that includes Add Subscribed Calendar. Once you enter your subscribed calendar's address, the next screen will ask if you have any authentication information required.
Hopefully, this will allow you to get onto your calendar.

  • Public Calendar & Contacts on Android

I am setting up an Office 365 test environment and have a question regarding Public Calendar and Contacts being sync'd to Android and IOS. I know you cannot sync this information using Public folders and would like to know the best practice to get this done.
The two suggestions I have had are:
    1. Create a Office 365 account called PB Contacts and and one called PB Calendar and share those calendars with users and these will show up on my mobile devices.
    2. Use SharePoint- how do I configure this and is it as user friendly and robust as it is in Outlook?
    Thank you!
    Mark

I would go with First Option, as it looks simple and easy to implement and manage.
Not sure how will you do it in SharePoint

  • Exchange 2003 Public Calendars

I would like to view my Exchange 2003 Public Calendars on my iPad 2 - iOS5.    Thanks

When the meeting is added to the exchange calendar, it wants to send the response. One way to solve it (and i think the easiest) is to configure the exchange account to send mail using a smart host. Configure your hosted email address as the default smtp
address - the server will send any mail it receives and the address on it will be your correct internet address.

  • How can I share my a public calendar from iCal (through iCloud) with Outlook for Windows users?

I have a public work calendar that I wish to share with colleagues in the office. No issues for those having a Mac or an iPhone, but how can I share the calendar with Outlook for Windows users?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello ramirofromstrockholm,
The steps detailed below explain how to go about publicly share a calendar (which doesn't require that one be an iCloud user to accept).
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar you want to share, then select Public Calendar.
Note:   You can also share the same calendar privately. For instructions, see the previous task, “Share a calendar privately.”
To invite people to view the calendar, click Email Link.
Type one or more email addresses in the To field, then click Send.
The people you specify automatically receive an invitation email that includes the calendar’s URL. An invitee doesn’t need to be an iCloud user to accept an invitation to view a shared public calendar.
In the sidebar, a shared calendar has a dark Share button.
You can also resend invitations to one or more invited participants at any time.
