Cannot switch my search engine on Safari

Im using OS X Version 10.9.5, and Safari 7.1
i was installing RealPlayer Cloud cause i thought it would help me to download a video online for me,
when i download it, it came with the MacKeeper,
and then my homepage and search engine became Yahoo's,
i managed to switch the homepage back to my Top Sites, but i can no longer use Google for my search engine, but only Yahoo.
I deleted the RealPlayer and MacKeeper
and tried resetting Safari but it didn't work.

    Turn those off and relaunch Safari again.
    Turn those on one by one and test.
2. Use free AdwareMedic by clicking “Download ” from here
     http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
     Install , open, and run it by clicking “Scan for Adware” button   to remove adware.
     Once done, quit AdwareMedic by clicking AdwareMedic in the menu bar and selecting
    “Quit AdwareMedic”.
    Also go through "Browser Settings".
               or
    Remove the adware manually by following the “HowTo” from Apple.

Since I looked everywhere for this answer and never found it I decided I needed to help!
1. GO TO THE TOOL BAR WHERE IT SAYS SAFARI AND CLICK TO BRING DOWN THE MENU OF OPTIONS, CLICK ON PREFERENCES
2.INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING ON THE GENERAL TAB AND CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE LIKE EVERY OTHER STUPID SUPPORT TELLS YOU TO DO LOOK AT THE TAB THAT SAYS EXTENSIONS.

Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS DUMB PROBLEM!!

Changing default search engine in Safari

Google is the default search engine in Safari on Mac OS X 10.5.2. How can I change it to another search engine?

I tried installing Acid Search v.62xx. It didn't work so I went back to the web site and it appears that Tiger was the last version it worked on.
I then did a search for AcidSearch and Leopard and there was a Beta of v.7xx.

I installed it. The installer said it was successful but it doesn't seem to work. Hopefully it will be out of Beta soon.
I did install Inquisitor and it seems to be working just fine

Keyboard shortcuts to switch between search engines stopped working

The latest version of Firefox looks great but unfortunately the keyboard shortcuts that I use all the time to switch between search engines stopped working which leaves me stuck with version 33.1.
I'm talking about the shortcuts Ctrl + ↑ and Ctrl + ↓ described in this page:

Remove Bing as default search engine in Safari

Suddenly my Safari default search engine (in the URL bar) has switched to Bing. I changed it back to Google in preferences (on the Safari menu) and although the URL bar says "Search Google or enter address", it still defaults to Bing. Please help.

At this stage, I don't know of any workarounds (or available plugins) for Safari for Windows 4.0.4 that allow you to put a different search engine option in the search field.
The workaround I've been using is to pin a Bing window into my Top Sites.
You can send an enhancement request to Apple about it. Although it doesn't look to be set up for it, if you bring up your Menu Bar and go "Help > Report bugs to Apple", you can use that bug report form to ask for enhancements. I was skeptical about that to begin with, but apparently they check that for feature enhancement requests, according to the following document. (It's mentioned right down the very bottom.)

In firefox I cannot use the search engine, like to order a product or search it seems to be in the upper half of screen

in firefox. Icannot use the search engine in the screen and I cannot order anything as well. I get the cursor arrow insted of the I symbole.. I even reloaded firefox too. Can some one help?

How do i delete rarely used search engines in safari?

My safari comes with 4 search engines in default. But only one is my favour, the others I want them deleted FOREVER!

Easiest way to change the search is to install 3rd party freeware Inquisitor. After installing it, restart Safari. Go to Safari Preferences. Click on the arrow at the far end of the menu panel. You'll see an hour-glass icon. Click on it to open the Inquisitor panel. Click on the search engine drop-down menu and select your preferred search engine.

Want to make google my default search engine in safari

When doing a search today on my ipad, I inadvertently checked a box asking to have yahoo become default search engine. I didn't realize until it was too late. I want to go back to using google for search when I have safari open. Don't seem to see a way to change back to google. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.

Is the search engine of safari in iOS6.0 depending on the device edition?

My ipad was purchased in HK and I found safari forces me to use google.com.hk.
In addition, my iphone was purchased in UK and safari then forces me to use google.co.uk.

Are you currently in Hong Kong? If so, the Chinese government won't allow you to use any Google search engine other than the HK/Chinese ones and either blocks access to other Google engines or forces a redirect to the HK version. I believe that the HK Google is locked into the firmware in any device sold in China, though I'm not certain.
If you're not currently in China, then you should be able to get your iPhone using the correct one by setting the region for the UK. The iPad, though, may well be locked to the HK version of Google with no way to change it.

Why won't Apple let me set duckduckgo as my default search engine for safari?

I am using a iPad Mini and Safari only lists three options for a default search engine (google, bing, yahoo), all of which lack privacy. I would like to set my default to duckduckgo and would prefer not to modify my iPad illegally or use secondary apps (duckduckgo app). Why won't Apple just let me modify my default search engine manually? I quite enjoy Safari and don't like wasting space with other browsers on my iPad.

No browser can insure privacy.
The options Google, Bing, and Yahoo. Period.
