Cannot sync Adobe digital edition with kobo

I get an error message E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY

Marie, if you are still having the problem, I was able to fix it by resetting my Kobo to factory settings with some help from another post.
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3371268#3371268
- deauthorize my Kobo in Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) using Ctrl-Shift-E
- remove the My Documents\My Digital Editions folder from my computer (I saved it in another location)
WARNING: backup your books if you need to. I didn't care myself since I could redownload.
- remove the G:\Digital Editions and G:\.adobe-digital-editions folders from my Kobo (G: is the drive my Kobo uses on my computer).
- unplug the Kobo
- reset the Kobo to factory settings via the Settings->Advanced choice in the Kobo menu.
- plugin the Kobo, authorize it to my  Adobe ID (same as used on computer)

  • No permission to copy from Adobe Digital Editions to Kobo

My computer recently died and I bought  new one.  I can not copy from Adobe Digital Editions to my Kobo now.  It says I don't have permission.  When I try to log in with my Adobe ID it says I can't use the same ID on a different computer.  Advice? Thanks

You need to make sure the kobo is registered with the same Adobe ID that the main ADE (digital editions) is registered with.
If the main ADE is not registered with an explicit Adobe ID yet, return the book, register ADE with your ID, and borrow the book again.
To register ADE (if not already registered), menu/Help/Authorize Computer on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Comptuer on the older more reliable v1.7.2).
To register a dedicated ereader kobo once ADE is registered, connect kobo by usb and in ADE use menu/Help/Authorize Device on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Device on v1.7.2).
If the kobo is a tablet device you may need to follow kobo instructions to register the Adobe ID using the app on the device rather than via ADE.

  • Cannot update Adobe Digital Edition 4.0. Why?

I receive notices that an update is available for my Adobe Digital Edition 4.0. However, even though I'm connected to my internet, the update cannot download and I receive a message to be sure I'm connected to the Internet.  What's going on?

  • Activating Adobe Digital Editions with my ID

It has been several years since I first started to use Adobe Digital Editions.  I'm almost certain that I started with an ID immediately, but I need to figure out whether I activated the computer with an ID because I would like to purchase a book and read it on more than one machine.  According to this http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/faq.html , books that are are purchased are available on more than one computer.  Can anyone help me figure this out?  Thanks!

  • Cannot link from Adobe Digital Editions to Kobo

I am running Kobo with software version 1.9(25373, Mar 29 2011) Revision 58.
I have downloaded a book from my local public library to ADE where I can view it.
I liniked my Kobo to my Windows 7 Home Premiium laptop before I opened ADE. The above screen shot shows that I  cannot see any prompt, icon, symbol or menu to link my ADE to my Kobo to enable transfer of my book to the Kobo.
Please tell me how to transfer the book. Thanks.

Let's start at the beginning, to make sure we don't miss a step.  Power up
and connect your KOBO to the computer, and make sure that it recognizes
that the KOBO is attached, and gives it a drive letter.  Then, bring up ADE
(which scans attached drives and queries them to find out if they're an
ereader).  ADE should show the ereader on the bookshelf in Library view
(left hand panel), and the KOBO should show it's connected to ADE on its
    screen.

  • RE: Adobe Digital Editions recognizing KOBO

I have been using the ADE with my KOBO for over two years. Today, I can't manage my KOBO acct because ADE will not recognize the KOBO.I have tried changing USB cords, closing and reopening the program, restarting the computer without luck. I was able (as usual) to download my books but since the KOBO is not recognized on the home page cannot transfer them. The battery on the KOBO is fully charged. Any ideas on what I can do?

Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.  Both devices stand alone and connect
via the USB cord and the operating system software.  Let me go over the
process - no offense intended to your intelligence or experience.
The process of connecting should start with you plugging in the KOBO to
your computer.  The computer should recognize the KOBO and give it a drive
letter.  You can check on this with Windows Explorer (NOT Internet
Explorer), which will show you all of the devices attached to your computer.
Then, start ADE.  If all is well, ADE will show the KOBO in the bookshelf
pane of the Library view.  If it's not there, then you can try a couple of
things.  First, press the key combination of CTL, SHIFT and the letter D.
That should deauthorize the KOBO if it's there.  If ADE can't find it, it
will tell you it can't deauthorize the device.  The next time ADE tries to
see the KOBO, it should ask you to authorize the device.
There's one more thing to consider.  Did you upgrade any software - KOBO or
ADE?  That can upset the applecart.

  • Cannot authorize Adobe Digital Editions - E_AUTH_NO_AUTHRESP

    Hi anyone,
When trying to authorize my computer through ADE I get the following error:-
Error communicating with AdobeID server. Please try again later.
    E_AUTH_NO_AUTHRESP http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/AddSignInDirect [email protected]
The "chat" support have not been able to do anything more than point me to the help (oddly enough, I'd read all that before "chatting")
I thought that it may be a replication problem, or time lag, but it has been a few hours now. Maybe the AdobeID Server is down, but I would expect a downtime notification at least, and I can navigate to http://adeactivate.adobe.com/adept/AddSignInDirect.
Has anyone else had this problem, today or ever?
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,
I had this exact same problem. I changed my password to be sure I had the correct one, that didn't help. I logged in at my account, which worked with my new password. There I learned that Adobe has a chat function. Kibria gave me the same link to that forum, but this problem isn't solved there...
    GRRR... very annoying.
I'm going to start a new chat and ask about the server. And to tell that the link doesn't make any sense.
    Hieke

  • Does Adobe Digital Editions work with the Kobo Arc 7 e-reader ?

I cannot get Adobe Digital Editions to recognise my Kobo Arc 7.
Does Adobe Digital Editions work with the Kobo Arc 7 e-reader ?
It is recognised partly by Calibre but then produces an communication error message.
Are there any other utilities I could use to organise DRM files downloaded to be stored on the Kobo Arc?

No. For information about the future plans for this see http://blogs.adobe.com/billmccoy/2009/10/adobe-ebooks--.html

  • Problems with Adobe digital editions

I tried to authorize Adobe digital edition in my new Tablet, but I received an error message, so I decided to authorize with another personal email account. Now, the problem is that I can not download those books I had bought previously. How can I reauthorize Adobe digital edition with my previous email? How can I avoid the error message I received when I tried to authorize with that email?

You must use your original Adobe account to real books bought and downloaded while using that account.
I'm a but confused by I tried to authorize Adobe digital edition in my new Tablet, ADE does not run on any tablet except a full Windows 8 tablet.
What id you try to authorize? (1) ADE running on a Windows 8 tablet, (2) an app running on a normal tablet, or (3) ADE itselft running on a computer.
In any case, you must deauthorize the new ID, and then reauthorize with your original ID.
On ADE, the deauthorization is ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D on Mac).  If you can't reauthorize with your original ID, post detailks and the message you get when trying.
For a tablet app, see help for that app for deauthorization/reauthorization.

  • Need help authorizing Adobe Id on adobe digital editions

I have an Adobe ID and I can use it to log on my account online, but I have been trying to authorize my Adobe Digital editions with that ID and cannot do so. I downloaded this Adobe Digital Editions software from online library.

For this problem, you need to deauthorize and authorize ADE again.
    Launch ADE
    Help -> Erase authorization.
    ADE will be deauhorized.
    Now again AUTHORIZE ADE
    Help-> authorize computer.
    Error will be fixed !!

  • Opened adobe digital edition anonymously and now can't use book on other computer

I didn't realise I needed to open adobe digital editions with my name in order to access the book I purchased from more than one device. How can I remedy this situation? the publisher is not being overly helpful

This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.
When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).
Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.
Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.
When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.
Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.
The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.
I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.
However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,
such a measure is totally justifiable.
