Cannot sync because it says other is filling up my entire phone

When I got to sync my iPhone 5s in Itunes 12, it shows that my phone is full of 26gb of  "other". It doesn't split up the different categories such as audio and photos. I think this is what is causing this problem for me. Does anyone have a solution so that I can sync music to my phone. Thanks

What is "it" tha has not started?

iCloud is off on both my phone and my computer.

It is saying that the iPod does not have enough free storage to sync all the items yu have selected to sync to the iPod. You need 2.48 GB more free on the iPod. You need either to select less to sync or delete some content form the iPod.

    Hello Melly89,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like we need to uninstall not just iTunes, but its associated softwares as well.

      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

The ipad wont sync and will return an error "Ipad cannot sync because the computer is no longer authorized to transfer the purchases..." But when I do a file>devices>transfer purchases. It is successful. Updated to ios7 recently. I'm facing the problem since then. I've tried deauthorizing and then authorizing several times.

Thanks Gail but ive tried that as well as logging oht and back into my accounts on my iphone and mac but I still get that message. I actually found a solution by unckecking my synced music playlist and clicking sync to remove it and then reclicked on my playlist to sync and it actually synced notmally and I got all of my new songs so I wanted to test it again so I clicked on sync again and the message once again popped up until I did the un-syncing and re-syncing again. I guess I will keep doing that in the future even though its annoying but its better than resetting my iphone.

  • Had to reinstall my operating system, so basically i got a new computer...reinstalled itunes and now my iphone 4 will not sync. it connects, then backs up then starts sync and says "cannot connect because there is not enough free space on the phone."

There is enough spacde on my phone. It is the exact same itunes library because i saved all my music before i reinstalled windows. So i just put all the music back onto itunes. It asked me if i wanted to erase and sync because it was a "new computer" and i said yes because it is all the same music so it should just re sync all the same stuff. But it wont do it. It just keeps saying there is not enough space on the phone, and my phone has 5 GB left on it.

Maybe iTunes is calculating it like this:
5 GB left, but if you sync your music (from the new PC) to it it will be full. It's maybe syncing the new content and then deleting the old music.
Try this: Deselect "Music-Syncing" and let him delete the music from your iPhone. (the other stuff, photos, cal, contacts should stay untoucht if you don't deselect it) After iTunes deleted the music from your iPhone (by letting the other stuff untouched) try to reselect "Music-Syncing" and iTunes will sync your music to your iPhone.

  • "cannot sync because playlists do not exist" ??

I just plugged my iPod into my computer and it wiped out every single song and playlist that was on my iPod, but everything is still in iTunes. When I try to transfer all my songs, a window comes up that says "Songs on this iPod cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist". What does this mean? How can i fix it?
    LG   Windows XP

Since your library is larger than will fit on your iPod, iTunes created a playlist which will fit.
You deleted this playlist so, "all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
    Create a new playlist.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
    Clik the Music tab.
    Select this new playlist.

  • "Cannot sync because playlists do not exist" ???? Please help ???

Recently noticed that all of my playlists dissapeared from my 20gb 3G iPod.
I docked it to try and sync it up and gave me the message "Songs on the iPod could not be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist".
Click ok. iPod undocks itself and is now completely empty. I redock it and gives the same message.
I did a reset on the iPod with no success so I did a complete restore. This allowed me to dock and resync to the iTunes library. So I add in a few more songs and try to sync and get the same message, undocked iPod, and completely deleted again. I even tried to delete my playlists from the iTunes library thinking that may be the propblem. Still getting this specific message despite there being nothing on the iPod and no playlists in iTunes.
Anybody have any idea what's going on here?
    TIA

    See this user tip.
The iPod cannot be updated because one or more playlists no longer exist.
For versions of iTunes from 7 onwards, the option to "update selected playlists" is now under the "music" tab in the summary screen.

  • Cannot sync because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library

On my last attempt to sync my iPod Touch with my laptop I got the following message:
The iPod "*******" cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 3.18 GB required)
My iPod is the basic 8 GB version with 6.8 GB capacity.    I have cleard most of my photos off the iPod.   I have 536 MB available.
How do I get the iPod to sync?

I found it!   There is a note in the help pages.   Basically turn off all sync options in iTunes.  Apply that change.   Then go back and turn sync's back on.  WARNING..   Take note of how your sync's are set up before you turn them off.

  • IPhone 4 cannot sync because "file cannot be found"?

I recently updated the software on my iPhone 4 from version 4.0.1 to 4.0.2. While the phone was performing a sync prior to the update from versions the computer or phone froze. I restarted both the phone and computer. I then tried to update the phone versions and have been unable to get the phone to sync. It seems that the phone has been updated to version 4.0.2, but it will not sync at all. I keep getting the following message:
The iPhone "phone name" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.
The biggest issue I see is that the photos on my phone are not synced properly. Some albums are missing and so are some photos. Not only that but I notice that this message occurs during the last step of the sync process (step 5).

  • In trying to sync my old iPod to my new computer, it says that I cannot sync because it belongs to anther library.  How do I find that old library for my new computer?

I have a new computer.  It has been several years since I have downloaded any songs to my iPod.  My old computer crashed so I could not get the info off of it.  Now that I try to sync this iPod to my new computer, it states that it cannot because it belongs to another Library.  How do I find that Library.  I have resigned into iTunes, found my old account, and it still does not sync.
    Any Ideas"
    Thanks

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
