Cannot sync Family Share music to my PC's iTunes?

Updated PC and iPhone's iOS to the latest, and my husband and I started utilizing the Family Share feature now available under iCloud. While we both were able to download songs from the other's library to our phones, I cannot seem to see those downloads in my PC's iTunes. I have tried syncing, signing out and signing out, checking for available downloads, etc. Also, oddly, when I plug my phone in to the PC, the new songs show up in the "On This Iphone" tab, but not under music. I know that you can authorize up to 5 computers to have Family Share content on them, I just cannot figure out how. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.

i cannot sync my iphone music, i had used my i phone on another pc, which died. Ive managed to save the hard drive and transfer stuff across. I ended up smashing my phone and could update all other stuff on restore but cant sync any music. It is all grey at the top of the screen. Ive re installed itunes and cleared all phone data. Now when i bought a song on this computer from the apple store, i have just been sent an email that says Your Apple ID, was just used to purchase (a song ) by a computer that had not been previously associated with that apple id. So do i have to tell apple now somehow i am using itunes on this pc, and if so how? Because i authorised it and it said this pc was one of 5 aujthorised. if anyone can be of assistance then great!

I'm having a similar problem. I had previously (over a year ago) purchased 2 episodes of Law & Order. Then about 2 months ago, I purchased the 3rd season of Sons of Anarchy. When I downloaded these episodes to my iPad, about a dozen full seasons of various shows popped up, too. No money was removed from my iTunes account & theses particular shows aren't in my iTunes library on my desktop. I've tried every which way to delete them from my ipad, but can't. I went to the Apple store & they suggested I contact expresslane.apple.com for help. I submitted my problem, via email Friday, as they asked, but have not received any response. Any suggestions on how to get rid of these "phantoms?".

If I have a playlist say with 200 songs it will say on itunes sync window syncing 200 songs however I only get 150 songs on my iphone. I have restored iphone twice, I have tried playlists and smart play lists. It seems not to sync the same songs all the time. Prior to IO7 in sinced all my songs. I see on the chats that this is a big problem. Do you have any solutions. the songs that dont sync are the same format as those that do.

Hi,
Setting up syncing
Before setting up syncing you should download and install the latest version of iTunes. Wi-Fi syncing requires iTunes 10.5 or later and iOS 5 or later. You can change your sync options at any time. Each time you sync, content is synced between your iOS device and computer to reflect new, updated, or deleted content.
USB syncing
Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable and select it in iTunes under Devices on the left-hand side. Some tabs may not appear if you do not have corresponding content in your library. For example if you do not have any podcasts in your library, the corresponding Podcast tab will not appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.
Wi-Fi syncing
Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
Hope this helps

• 1 iCloud ID, Multiple Apple IDs = problem...HELP, cannot make Family Share with iCloud work

So I have music stored in multiple apple IDs. I have an iPhone & therefore an iCloud ID. I wanted to use the family share option however I cannot as the other apple IDs do not have iCloud IDs. Is there a way to get around this? I believe the only way one can have an iCloud ID is if they currently have a Mac product & register it through that; I have a PC not a Mac. Please HELP!!!! Thanks.

You can create an iCloud account using your existing Yahoo.com ID rather than creating a new ID. (You can use the other one because it has to be in the form of an email address and linked to a verifiable email account.) To do this you would go to System Preferences>iCloud and sign in with the ID to create the account, then check the data you want to sync with iCloud. When you check Mail, you will be prompted to create your @icloud.com email address. This is the email account that goes with your iCloud account, if you wish to use iCloud email. When you type the name you would like to use for this address, iCloud will search and tell you if it's already taken by someone else, in which case you will have to choose another. Type carefully, as once created, your @icloud.com address cannot be changed. Understand that your iCloud account ID will still be your @yahoo.com address. The @icloud.com address you choose is for email only.
None of this will effect your existing purchased media using your two Apple IDs. These will stay the same as purchases are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them. Also, Apple will not merge IDs.

Lori --
What can I say, but thank you, thank you and thank you!
Your timely response saved the day -- it was a little hairy there for a while, with .jpg files all over the desktop, but after resorting to pen and paper (still necessary at times) and recording the numbers of all files, I am now good to go.
The little green star and the bogue award of 10 points doesn't begin to convey how helpful your post, but it's all we're given (plus these words, of course).
To briefly sum up -- This morning (after the debacle last evening that started all this) I was trying to reconcile myself to the fact that my photos were lost for good and that I had only myself to blame.
Now, I have all my photos back (more than 200 hundred, some of them really kind of cool, if I do say so myself) and all are now sitting nicely in iPhoto waiting to be manipulated, edited and otherwise toyed with.
All thanks to you, Lori.
Not that I wish the heartache I just went through over the last 24 hours on anyone, but I do hope that I get the chance to help someone out as much as I was helped out today. Good Karma and all that.
This site flat out rules!
Thanks again.

• I cannot sync non purchased music

Hi i have recently added my iphone 5 onto my existing itunes library, it has synced my music to it however it has only synced the tracks what are down as purchased, it will not transfer songs that i have ripped from cd's.
Can anyone help me please

Hello clem1988,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to sync your music to your iPhone. It sounds like you are seeing just your purchased music, which is visible from iTunes in the Cloud (there is a cloud icon next to the items that stream and are not actually on your device).
When you have your iPhone connected to iTunes, I recommend checking the Music tab to verify that Sync Music is checked. From here, you will be able to select to sync your "Entire music library" or "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres:"

• Cannot sync pictures or music

I have BlackBerry Link 1.2.0 build 17 on OSX 10.9.1 (macbook pro), and my Z10 (10.2.0.429) no longer syncs pictures or music. When I connect the Z10 with a USB cable and drag a picture from the Z10 to the "This Computer" field in Link, the Activity window shows the activity, iPhoto appears and dissappears, but no pictures are transferred. If I let it do a whole bunch, same thing. This worked successfully until a few weeks ago. OSX and Z10 have both been rebooted.
Any suggestions?
thanks
mike

This info is for a PC, must be similar for a MAC, you can find it here, open Link, click help top right and scroll down to the section "Some files didn't sync"
Some files didn't sync
Try the following actions:
Verify that the battery power level of your BlackBerry device is 20% or higher. Syncing will not begin if the battery level is lower than 20%. Your battery level indicator appears at the top of the home screen on your device.
If you are trying to sync your music, pictures, videos, or documents between your computer and your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, you must connect your tablet to your computer using a USB cable.
If you changed a file on both your device and your computer, the version of the file on your computer is the version that BlackBerry Link syncs. The version of the file on your device is overwritten by the version on your computer.
If you have a media card in your device and you have turned on USB mass storage on your device, BlackBerry Link can't access the files on your device. For information about how to turn off the USB mass storage setting, tap the Help app on the home screen of your device.
Verify that your device has enough available storage for your music, pictures, videos, and documents. Consider using a higher capacity media card for your device.
Verify that your songs don't contain any digital rights management (DRM) technologies.
Verify that your files are in a supported format.
If your videos didn't sync and the video extension is supported, verify that your video or audio codecs are supported.
If you are trying to sync your contacts or calendar appointments, verify that a file wasn't deleted. In BlackBerry Link, click your device. Click Contacts/Calendar. In the Settings section, select the Notify me if syncing content will delete content from my device or computer checkbox.
If you are trying to sync your contacts or calendar appointments, verify that there wasn't a conflict. In BlackBerry Link, click your device. Click Contacts/Calendar. In the Settings section, click Configure to check your sync preferences and conflict resolution options. You can also click Show Recent Activity.
Verify that your contacts and calendar sync preferences, including the option to sync automatically are set correctly.
If your device is activated on BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10, verify with your administrator that BlackBerry Link can access the files on your device.

• Cannot sync Outlook 2007 Calendar with iPhone 4 using iTunes 10 for Windows

I cannot sync my calendars with my iPhone and Outlook. I spent the whole day uninstalling Office and iTunes and reinstalling them, but calendar items still won't sync in either direction. I also deleted and reinstalled the Outlook iTunes addin. I'm not getting any error messages; they just are not syncing.
I am using:
Windows XP Pro
Outlook 2007
iPhone 4
iTunes 10

OK...here's the update. I tried a few more tricks, too numerous to go into and NOTHING worked. I finally downlaoded and installed Companionlink Express and.....presto! I can sync again. 49.95 for the Companionlink software. You would think the BB folks could write (or purchase) a decent piece of software. I purchased the 8330 primarily to help me keep up with my calendar. When that didn't work, I had a $200 dollar cell phone. RIM almost got this one back! By the way, the website is www.companionlink.com.
