Cannot sync music to iPhone 3GS

I just bought a new computer & wanted to have my iTunes on the new computer that I downloaded all music to. When I tried to sync my iPhone 3GS to my music it does not work. Can anyone let me know what I might be doing wrong?

Hi - I did what you suggested. I show all of my 516 songs now from my old computer now on my new lapto iTunes playlists. I select Apply & then sync and only about 20 songs download to my iPhone. What could I be doing wrong?  Appreciate your help.

  • ITunes 9.2 not syncing music with iPhone 3GS?

I'm suddenly having trouble syncing music to my iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.0.1.
I have iTunes set up so that it will only sync selected playlists, artists, and genres. When I make any changes to the selections, iTunes remembers it (even after closing and re-opening) but when I use the sync button, the music or playlists do not transfer. I see iTunes backing up the iphone, transferring purchased items, syncing applications, and then it finishes without transferring anything else.
    Anybody seen this before?

Disable your firewall and then try. Once synching begins, then enable your firewall. Simple.

  • Cannot sync music to iphone

Whatever i do i cannot sync my music to iphone. I have tried every single trick. Even reinstalling itunes. It just starts sync but no music is transferred to the pho e at the end.

Did you ever fix this problem as I have the same issue?

  • ITunes crashes upon syncing music to iPhone 3GS iOS4

I recently bought an iPhone 3GS and upgraded it to 4.1. Whenever I try and sync my music, iTunes will crash - I get the "iTunes has encountered an unexpected error and has to close" message, with the Windows report screen popping up and all that. This is only when I sync my music - applications and contacts sync fine (I do not sync videos/photos/voicemails so I have those all unchecked). I only sync one selected playlist (not my whole library).
I am using iTunes 10, running on Windows XP. I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times (including downgrading to 9.2 at one point) but I continue to get the same result - iTunes crashes upon syncing music. I just did a fresh restore, and this has not fixed the problem.
I have tried splitting up my 550 song playlist that I normally sync to my iPhone, but when I did this (it was only about 250 songs) iTunes crashed again towards the end. It has been crashing whether or not I have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" checked or not. It crashes somewhere in the middle of "Copying X out of X."
Note As of typing this, I successfully synced a separate 58-song playlist WITH "Convert to 128 kbps AAC checked." However, I then tried to sync a different 61-song playlist WITHOUT that checked and iTunes proceeded to crash. After this, I tried syncing the 58-song playlist again WITHOUT the Convert checked and it synced perfectly without crashing.
    Recap:
Playlist #1 (550 songs) - Crashes WITH OR WITHOUT convert checked
Playlist #2 (58 songs) - Syncs perfectly with or without convert checked
Playlist #3 (61 songs) - Crashes without "Convert..." checked (have not tested with "Convert..." checked, it's late and I have to head to bed soon and I want to get this post up).
Considering this information, would it be reasonable for me to assume that it's some of the songs in my library that are making iTunes crash? If so, how the heck am I supposed to figure which songs are causing this? I really hope I do not have to sit here as iTunes syncs and watch our for every song it crashes on...
Does anyone have any suggestions? I've scoured these boards but I haven't found anyone with the same situation as me, and thus no answers.
So frustrated. Even my old iPhone 2G on OS 3.0 syncs my music perfectly!!

I am back to attempting to sync my music. iTunes continues to crash on certain songs, however I have also noticed another problem - each time I attempt to sync my main playlist (after deleting the song it crashed on last time), it will say Copying X out of like, 96 or some number that is nowhere near the real count of songs on the playlist.

  • Cannot sync music to iPhone 5 and iPad Mini in iTunes 11

As you can see above, I'm having this annoying problem.
At first this issue was just with my iPad Mini, but now it's happening with my iPhone 5.
For some reason, it cannot sync all of my music.  All it's doing is just getting stuck at the last step (either "waiting for changes to be applied" or "waiting for items to copy")
Could someone help me out here?

I'm having the same issue, already for about a month or so, (a bit after the release of iOS 7) on my iPhone 4S.
Always stuck on Waiting for Changes to be Applied.
    I already tried:
    - built a completely new iTunes Library (my previous one was completely manually managed, this one is automatic, a change I had planned to do since a while, but now thought would be good to implement because it may fix my issue... no it didn't).
    - Removed all voice memos from my iPhone.
    - Restored from a iCloud backup. Then syncing again.
    - Updated to Mavericks with iTunes 11.1.2 and iOS 7.0.3.
    - Changed the name of the MediaLibrary.sqlitedb file on the iPhone (trough Phoneview) to have iTunes make a new Library. Still it's stuck on the bigger playlists.
The only thing I didn't do yet, was setting it up as a completely new phone. I am not gonna loose 4 years of text messages because of a bug in the software.
It syncs some playlists, but most of my larger ones it doesn't. I paid 850 euros to have an 64GB iPhone 4S, and now I have to leave it with 3/4 empty space because of Apple. Very frustrating.

  • Itunes on second computer cannot sync music with iphone

My primary computer for syncing my iphone is a imac and my secondary computer is a laptop running windows with itunes on it. When i set up iphone to sync with the laptop the music would not sync. The itunes version on the laptop can download purhcased songs. So i purchased new music through itunes on the laptop and now cannot sync that to the iphone without erasing all the other music on the iphone. Does anyone know how i can sync the purchased music on the laptop itunes with the iphone?
Grateful for any advice. I am not a satisfied user of apple itunes and iphone. I purchase music on itunes as I believe in paying for copyrighted music. Then when i own it apple software does not allow me to use it easily. Not really fair.

I also could not even manually drag and drop files onto my iPhone from my second computer. I have a video iPod, Shuffle and now iPhone. I drop songs onto both my shuffle and video iPod from THREE different computers (work, home and laptop). Are you telling me for some wacky reason we now cannot use more than one computer to drop files onto the iPhone?
I love my iPhone but that *****!!! You hear that Apple, it *****!!!!

do you have it set to sync your itunes library?

  • I cannot sync music from iphone 4s to iCloud nor iPhone 5s either

I have a lot of music in my iPhone 4s.  iTunes only shows the buyed ones.  How can I sync music from 4s to 5s?

You don't sync from one iphone to another.
You sync both to your computer.
All of your music should be on your computer.  If it is not, then put it there.
You can then sync to any of your idevices you like.

  • HT1751 Cannot sync music from iPhone to iTunes

Loaded iTunes on a brand new laptop and used existing iPhone 5 to transfer all music, apps., etc. to new iTunes program.  Much (not all) of my iPhone music is mysteriously missing from iTunes and does not seem to want to transfer over no matter what I do.  Help.

These two User Tips should help:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • How do you transfer music from iPhone 3Gs to Windows PC.

Old windows pc crashed. Do not have back up. How do I tranfers music from iPhone 3Gs 16M to new windows PC. 99% of music was ripped CD's.

The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • I cannot transfer music to my 3gs with itunes

I cannot put music on my 3gs using itunes. All I get is a no entry sign and a message that says tunes cannot be transferred to this iphone. What am I doing wrong?

Are you using automatic or manual transfer of media? If you never remeber changing it, you are on automatic. You can switch it by going to your iPhone's summary page and unchecking the box mentioning media management. What I can tell you is that you have much more control over your media this way. It doesn't matter if a song is checked or not, to put on music, you plug in, find the song you would like to add, and just drag and drop it onto the name of your device on the iTunes sidebar. You should not be stopped this way. By the way, incase you don't know, hold down Ctrl to select multiple songs to move, and hold Shift to select all the songs between the two songs you select.

  • Itunes cannot sync apps to iphone because the apps installed on the iphone could not be determined

when i try and sync my iphone 4s it shows a message saying itues  cannot sync apps to iphone because the apps installed on the iphone could not be determined

I am encountering the same problem.  This is a good start but need some guidance:
    1.  How do you get to the iTunes files you mention?
    2.  What specific files do you need?
    3.  Will I lose any data?
    Thanks for any help.
    1) The files are in the iTunes folder. The iTunes folder is in your Music folder which is in your home folder (user).
    So go to <user home>/Music/iTunes.
    2) Any files that end with .xml, .itl, or itdb. Please note that I had upgraded iTunes many times over the years and had several obsolete versions of those files in my iTunes folder. By moving them out and forcing iTunes to create new ones (see steps 3 & 4 above), I was able to determine which ones iTunes actually needed. Those were the files that I copied back into the iTunes folder, overlaying the new empty files.
    3) Always make backups before you try tricks like this. I would recommend backing up your entire iTunes folder. I did not experience any data loss. Those files seem to contain your iTunes library information but not the actual music, movies, etc. When I started iTunes in step 3 (see above), iTunes showed an empty library. After performing step 4 (see above), I started iTunes again and it showed all my music, movies, etc. So I assume that the actual media files are stored elsewhere. Again, always make backups before trying something like this. I use Time Machine.
Good luck. Let us know what happens.

  • HT1296 I cannot sync music from computer to iPad 2 but podcasts and books have synched

I cannot sync music in iTunes from my laptop to my ipad2, the audio books and podcasts have synced. Please can anyone help?

Step 1: Turn off iTunes Match on your computer
(iTunes: store >  Turn off iTunes Match).
Step 2: Turn off iTunes Match on all your devices
(iPad: settings > music > iTunes Match [off]).
(iPhone: settings > music > iTunes Match [off])
Step 3: Sign off of your iTunes account
    (iTunes: store > sign out)
Step 4: Disconnect your iPhone and/or iPad if they are connected to your computer. Then reconnect.
