  • Why when I plug in my iPod does it say I don't have the privilege to makes changes?

I plugged in my iPod to my computer a couple of days ago at night to sync new music and in the morning when I unplugged it, all the music on my iPod was deleted. I then restored my iPod (as my iTunes instructed me to do) and now when I plug my iPod in to sync all the music in my iTunes that got deleted, it says my iPod cannot be synced because I do not have the privilege to make changes. Help!!

If you have iTunes 11.1 on the computer and using the same cable for both iPods that indicates a problem with the iPod.
    - Does it charge?
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • I firewired I-tunes music from crashed I-mac to a new I-mac. Then tried to sync my I-pod w/ the new computer and got messages "I-pod cannot be synced". Also, "the disc could not be read from or written to- you don't have the privilege to make changes"

I firewired my i-tunes library from my old computer to a used I-mac which I bought. All purchased songs & playlists
were succesfully transferred. When I tried to sync my empty I-pod to the used I-mac I received these messages.
              - I-pod cannot be synced
              - The disc could not be read from or written to
              - You dont have the priveledge to make changes.
This is all my music legally downloaded and purchased from I-tunes. How to I circumvent this barrier?

  • I can browse the store and even purchase music but it won't download because I don't have the privilege to make changes. What?

I had no problem being connected to the store and browsing.  I eventually bought a CD but it won't download it.  It won't download podcasts either.  It tells me that I don't have the privilege to do so and to connect my network settings.  This is the first time I'm using my MacBook Pro with iTunes.  What is wrong?

As it says on the page that you posted from :
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Why it's like that I don't think that Apple have said (these are user-to-user forums). If you haven't downloaded it on your iPad then have you checked to see if you can download it on your computer's iTunes (Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option) or Apple TV ?
If it doesn't show on either of them then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will let you download it on a different computer/device or refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

My ipod gets half way though the this message, ipod cannot be synced. you do not have the privilege to make changes.
    What to do?

After searching this issue out and trying a bazillion different things (with no luck), I deselected 'Enable Disk Use' then re-enabled, and everything is working now.
Dear Apple -- What is up with that?

  • IPad 3 syncing issue on iOS6 - "You do not have the privilege to make changes"

I have updated my ipad 3  to iOS6 and now it is coming up with the following warning message when i try to sync "The iPad cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes" also it is not recognised wirelessly under devices, I have to connect with the usb cable.
I am having a similar issue on my iPhone 4s as well - this IS recognised wirelessly but has the saming warning message.
Both devices are updated to iOS6 and i am running iTunes 11.0.1
    Any help or advice????
    Thanks,

Finally managed to get this sorted, i noticed that it was at the point of the photos backing up i was getting the warning message so decided to try a few things,
What worked was holding down the option key and clicking on Aperture/iPhoto this gives you the option to select the library you want to choose from on your drive/external drive, i clicked the default one and reloaded Aperture.
Then i simply closed and re-opened itunes and it found the iPad wirelessly(still not sure why doing this on Aperture helped with this problem) then hit sync and everything worked OK.
I had changed nothing previously so unsure what started the issue whether it was iOS 6 or just an issue on my Mac but either way all works fine so i'm happy.

  • When trying to download or sync podcasts, I get an error code "you do not have the privilege to make changes". Please help!

When trying to download or sync podcasts, I get an error code "you do not have the privilege to make changes". Please help! I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, but that did not work. Also, I rebooted and that didn't work, either.

I tried to use an external hard drive from my windows computer that was formatted in NTFS Windows format.  Mac Pro sees that hard drive as "read only".  Itunes works on existing media on the hard drive to play music or movies, but when you try to purchase from itunes store and download you get the above message.  You need to move your library to a library that is formatted in exFAT format (which can be used both by "windows" and mac computers.

My iPod nano 3rd generation cannot be synced any more for some reason. It gives me the same message that is in the subject box and it says "disk repair: The disk "** iPod" was not repairable by this computer. It is being made available to you with limited functionality. You must back up your data and reformat the disc as soon as possible" Can someone please help me so I can sync my iPod again within my lifetime without having to get a new one?

    Hello Lizzyr Lizaryd,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!

  • Help!: The iphone cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make

    Help!
I synced my iphone4 to a window PC before i get a mac recently.
So, when i try to sync my iphone 4 to mac.
I was told that "the iphone cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes".
    1. i clicked store> authorize this computer. =failed.
    2. restart mac. =failed.
    3. reinstalled itunes. = failed.
    4. restored iphone4. =failed.
    Then,
I do logged in as admin.
I changed all the related folders' sharing/permissions to "read & write" for admin, me and everyone.
But still cannot be snyced for the music and photos.
I hopes that i can get the answer. Thanks.
So, what else can i do?
    is there any solution?

other threads have users reporting the same issue. I have a 4s which has been running fine and just this morning has come up with the same error. I suspect some permissioning issue on the phone (just a hunch)

  • Don't have the privilege to change this? sync

When i plug in my iphone and click sync, a box apears and and says "The iPhone "iphone 4S" cannot be synced. You do not have the privilege to make changes".
    what can i do?

    Hi Parvez,
    Before going further:
I applied a VM Windows XP pro. When I logged in as a local admin, I can view the calendar from the right corner of desktop or from control
panel. However, when I logged in as a normal user account, I received the same message as yours.
    For now:
I know this is not what you want. However, for normal users to view calendar, we can consider to give
Change System Time permissions to these users.
