Cannot telnet to 2950 or ping out from 2950

I tried to telnet to a 2950, but was not able to this morning. I tried to ping is DNS name and its IP address, but I am not able to. I consoled into the switch and tried to ping our router with no success. I reloaded the switch and has the same results. How can I fix this?

Michael
How is the 2950 configured? What is its IP address? Does it have a default-gateway configured? How is the switch connected to the router? Is the switch port connecting to the router configured as an access port or as a trunk? Does the 2950 have just a single VLAN or does it have multiple VLANs?
Without knowing these details that would be very useful, my first guess is that the 2950 does not have a default-gateway configured or that the configured default-gateway does not match up with the router configuration. My second guess would be that there may be a mismatch between switch configuration and router configuration for address and subnet mask.
Provide us with some details and we may be able to find the answer to your problem.

You need to return it to the seller and get your money back.  You cannot reset or use the device with another AppleID installed unless you know the password for that ID.
If the device has been jailbroken, no one on here can give you any further help...the Terms of Use prohibit us from doing so.

Hope you are having a lovely afternoon today! I'm about ready to go bobo....I have an early meeting, and I don't want to oversleep! The nice part is that I work remotely, so I only have to wake up 15 minutes or so before the meeting.... I don't even use an alarm clock anymore (really, my iPhone alarm, which is much more pleasant), unless I have to get up at 6:30 or something....

you are right about the IOS number. I couldn't access my iPad so I guessed and guessed wrong about the number. It was the latest upgrade offered by Apple for my iPad, which I dowloaded and installed. I have done some sleuthing and discovered that some of the problems are the result of the Accessibility - Voiceover being activated. Once I figured that out, I was able to navigate somewhat better, though I now cannot turn Voiceover off. I slide the button and it just revert to On. The other problem I have now discovered that the iPad only rarely will accept my password. This is a password that I know and love and use many times during the day (as all of us iPhone and iPad users do) Now it seems to reject my password 80+% of the time. I would disable password protection if I could. I think I am going to have to talk to Apple directly but wonder if anyone else has had this kind of trouble with the newest IOS. It worked fine on my iPhone.
I will try triple tapping the home button if I can ever get it opened again.

Here is the article about it:
iPhone and iPod: Liquid damage is not covered by warranty
Since we are all users here just like you, we can't do anything about decisions made by Apple.
You'll have to pay for a replacement:
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPhone model
    Out-of-Warranty Service
    iPhone 5
    $229
    iPhone 4S
    $199
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
    iPhone 3G, Original iPhone
    $149
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in U.S. dollars and are subject to local tax.
When setting up out-of-warranty service, Apple will request credit card pre-authorization for the maximum service fee listed above.  This amount will be deducted from your credit limit. The final service fee we charge will be determined during testing and may be less than the service fee listed above.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPhone that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service.
Apple reserves the right to determine whether or not your iPhone is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service. iPhones that are repaired or replaced have a 90-day limited hardware warranty or assume the remainder of your standard warranty or AppleCare service contract coverage, whichever is longer. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • Cannot telnet Solaris from NT

    Hi, there,
    I met a big problem!
I have Solaris 2.7 on two SUN Sparcs, say "sun1" and "sun2".
    Situation 1:
I can telnet "sun2" via sun1 but cannot telnet "sun2" via Windows NTs.
Whenever I tried to telnet "sun2" from windows NT, it prompts the login
information. However, after I enter the user id and password,
"sun2" replys me "login incorrect". I am sure the the id/passwrd pair is
correct because I can telnet "sun2" via other Unix platforms by the id/password pair.
It's also the same when i tried to ftp "sun2".
    Situation 2:
There is a Web Server on "sun2". But only can "sun1" connect to the
Web server. i can't connect to the Web server via the browser on NT.
    Any help will be appreciated!!
    Wyatt

Just for the others who'll read this, the command is:
    management-access inside
Nevertheless, thanks a lot because you pointed me in the right direction.
    Ciao

  • Cannot Telnet to Server

    Dear all,
I have a problem telnetting to a Solaris 10 server (sunFire V240) after it reboots.
If I do an svcs -a | grep milestone
It tells me that the muti-user and multi-user-server processes are running. I did notice that the multi-user-server did not always start during start up.
I tried to do an svcadm enable -r svc://milestone/multi-user-server:default
but, it took a long time for it to come into the "ONLINE" state.
The strangest thing is this: I can ping, but I cannot telnet into the machine.
I did an svcs -a | grep telnet and the telnet process is running. (obviously, i checked that before).
Now the current state is this:
I can telnet FROM this server to other servers, but I cannot telnet from this server TO other servers. I always get: "Connection Refused"
Has anyone else here been in this situation? I'm new to svm, and perhaps I'm missing something? I read all the manuals I could find, but still no luck.
Please, if you can help me, I'd really appreciate this as this server's state is causing me a lot of problems.

Out of curiosity, I'd like to know something also:
when doing an svcs -a | grep milestone, the server tells me the following:
    online svc:/milestone/name-services:default
    online svc:/milestone/devices:default
    online svc:/milestone/network:default
    online svc:/milestone/single-user:default
    online svc:/milestone/sysconfig:default
    online svc:/milestone/multi-user:default
    online svc:/milestone/multi-user-server:default
I'm just curious, but how is it both single-user AND multi-user-server BOTH can be default?? I specified that I want the multi-user-server to ALWAYS be the default for when an init 6 is issued, and I'm not entirely sure the machine has respected my wishes.
Have I misunderstood the above concept of what the svcs -a is producing, or is my Solaris 10 server not behaving normally?

  • Cannot Telnet back into standby ACE after upgrading to V4(2.1)

I am in the process of upgrading from v3.2.5 to v4.2.1, i have been follwing the upgrade/downgrade guide forv4(2.0) for my redunanant pair of ACE 4710.
everything ok, following procedure after the standby is reloaded and comes up to standby-warm, Iget the license incompatabilty message on the primary.
but I cannot telnet back into the standby, i can ping it ok though.
I am loathe to go any further, and do the 'ft Switchover all' and reload the primary incase I cannot telnet back into the primary when it comes back up.
Is this a known problem? whats the fix?

Hi, I have a similar problem, when I want to telnet to the ACE sometimes does not work, can you tell me how can I give to the admin context more resources?

  • Cannot telnet

    Hi everyone,
I have to work on a 1811 Series router at my work and scrub some configurations off of it and hand it to another company.
As part of the process I had to configure a temporary easy telnet access and then leave the device to them so they can do what ever they want with it.
Here is the erroe I get after I did the configuration
    telnet 10.x.x.x
    Trying 10.x.x.x ... Open
[Connection to 10.x.x.x closed by foreign host]
The line vty 0 4 and 5 15 are both configured with a pass, login is configured and both tranport input and output are configured on both. they routing on other devices on the network is fine and I can ping this device but cannot telnet to it. There is no access lest configured and no other special configuration going on.
As you can see there is no message of password not set and it just says connection to 10.x.x.x is closed by foriedn host.
If anyone could come with a clue I really appreciate it as this device is 4 hours drive from here and I would like to avoid that by any means.
    Best regards,

Did you perhaps configure aaa new-model on that router? and going a step further did you perhaps configure aaa authentication login on that router?
Either of these could result in the symptoms that you describe.

    Hi,
What Solaris version you are using? Check whether you have not reached upper limit of pt_tty limit.
Solaris 8 sets this limit dynamically depending on available free memory but not in older versions. If there are too many telnet sessions are opened, please try to logout some users & check new telnet sessions can be started.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

  • Cannot telnet to primary IP address

I have an inside interface on our Internet edge router that has a primary IP and three secondary IP addressess.  I can ping all four of them from the Internet and trace to them as well.  I can telnet to all of the secondary IP's but not the primary.  I also cannot telnet to any other device on that subnet.  All ACL's on the device look fine and would not block a telnet session.  Anyone seen this before?  Why would the primary IP only not be reachable?

Here's an update.  We cannot ping any device on that subnet unless that device is rebooted.  Then, we can reach it.  So, not only can we not telnet to the primary IP on the interface, we cannot ICMP ping to the devices on that subnet unless they are reloaded.

  • Cannot Telnet to ACE 4710 after upgrade to A4(2.3)

I have a pair of ACE 4710s with 12 contexts sharing the load, running A4(2.1). Yesterday I upgraded one of them to A4(2.3)
now I cannot telnet to the Admin context.Pings ok. I can telnet to other contexts on the box and everything seems to be working ok
    when i do a " sh telnet"
    comes back with
    No Session Information is available
    sh telnet maxsessions
    telnet maxsessions 16
    Can anybody help?

further this post, it was not a resource problem as had allocated 5% for the Admin context.
I up graded IOS Saturday evening, could not Telnet in, tried again on Sunday same result,
though this morning (Monday) Can now telnet in ok very strange
I was connecting via the AUX line of a 2851 router to the console port.
whe I disconnected this morning I saw the following message
INIT: id "T0" respawning too fast : disabled for  5 minutes
not sure if this is a 2851 message or an ACE message, but after getting that message is when I was able to Telnet in
    was it a coincidence
    anybody any ideas

  • How do I set MacMail to always send out from the same account?

I have multiple email accounts for my business but have them set to forward to my iCloud address (because I also have an iPad and cannot get my business mail on that unless it's forwarded). When I reply to business messages I always want to use the business address and only occasionally want to use the iCloud address. Without changing the send out address EVERYTIME, which is what I'm doing now, is there a way to configure MacMail so that it will ALWAYS send out from my business address unless I specify otherwise?
I looked at Help and it says that you can set that preference in Composing, but it doesn't seem to work.

.mac/mobileme/iCloud is only one of many options you can use for Mail.
In fact iCloud is shifting to mostly 10.7.2 or later only which your G5 does not support.
To determine if you can still use iCloud for Mail, read this tip.
POP account simply are either pop.mac.com, mail.mac.com, or mail.mobileme.com, or mail.me.com or pop.me.com.
smtp is the send mail server alone.   And issues with sending mail to a non-internet juice provider typically happen if your internet juice provider blocks any sendmail servers that aren't authenticated.   To solve that problem you need password authentication, and either a port 587, 2626, or 2662 with a username of your e-mail address, and password used for checking mail, and the sendmail server of your choice that knows of your e-mail address in your mail settings.
Using POP is great if you want to store your mail only on your machine.  Otherwise it is better to use IMAP which stores on the server, and lets you copy information up to your machine as you desire.

  • How can i access my old correspondense with old password in Mozilla Thunderbird? How can i check out from my password?

I had my website moved to other hosting. Accordingly, i changed a password, and when i checked in on my computer the first time with a new password, i stupidly checked the box "remember me on this computer", but i lost access to all my old emails that were laying in Thunderbird on my PC. How can i check out from the current password and log in with the old one so that i could access my old correspondense?

'''Pop mail accounts '''can only access the server Inbox.
Messages are downloaded to your computer and stored in the Thunderbird Profile mail account.
Usually, the copy on the server is removed unless you select to 'leave messages on server' in Account Settings..
'Tools' > 'Account Settings' > 'Server Settings' for pop mail account.
These emails are stored on your computer and can be accessed in both 'online' and 'offline' mode.
You would need to make sure you periodically create a backup of these emails.
'''IMAP mail accounts '''see a remote view of any subscribed folder on the server.
Subscribed folders download headers only and when you select to read an email, it is retrieved from the server and stored in a temporary cache to faciltate quick access to reading.
These emails are not stored in your Thunderbird profile folders on your computer, so would not be visible if you changed to 'offline' mode. They are stored on the server.
If you did not synchronise those subscribed folders then a copy was never stored in your Thunderbird profile imap mail account.
As you have modified the IMAP mail account and it is currently accessing the new hosting server, so cannot display anything on a different server, I would leave it alone because it is working just fine.
What you could try is to create a new IMAP mail account with server settings to the old host server using the old password.
File > New > exisitng mail account
Enter name, email address and password
    click on 'Continue'
If you do manage to get access, then synchronise the subscribed folders to get a copy downloaded to Thunderbird Profile folders. As those folders are constantly updating to match the server, once you have the emails downloaded, go into 'offline' mode and move them into 'Local Folders'; you will need to make new folders in Local Folders account for those emails.
However, it is possible that you may not get access as that contract has ended. There is no obligation for the old host company to keep your emails if you do not have an account with them. In which case those emails will be lost.
After creating new imap mail account, if you get access do as advised to get emails into Local Folders, once emails are in Local folders you can remove/delete the imap mail account. If it does not work, you can delete the imap mail account.
