Cannot text a contact

I have one contact that I am unable to txt. I have deleted them several times did the whole take out the battery ect. This is such an odd problem any suggestions would be great

Hello and welcome to the forums;
Try opening the Messaging application and either typing their phone number in or searching for their contact from the New Message screen. I've seen some cases where that is needed for a first message, then it should work correctly after.

Does your father receive texts from other people? Could he possibly have you blocked (inadvertently or otherwise?). Call Verizon customer service and have them check the provisioning on his line to ensure texting is fully enabled.
Is he trying to send you an iMessage text? Have him turn off iMessages and send a regular text.

Cannot Text from "Contacts"

I am only able to text individuals on the AT&T network form my contacts. If I try to text a friend it comes back saying "Error Invalid" and states that I need to use a 10 digit mobile number. I am able to text from the SMS Text App, but cannot reply.
I restored the iPhone. AT&T and Apple have not helped at all. Help!!!

FYI! I was on w/ tech support from 2pm-10pm fixing this issue of not being able to text from my contacts. I could text if I manually entered the number, but I could not reply once they replied to me.
We had to back up all of my contacts, pictures, etc and wipe out my phone. We started from a brand new phone. It worked! So if it happens to you, back everyhting up through outlook, windows address book, and right click on your phone icon to back everything up. I cant remember how he backed up my photos, but he did and then we cleaned it out, added everything back in and it works great now! What pain in the ___.

Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact. They can text me and we can both call each other. My service provider shows no record of texts being sent, even though they appear to be sent from my iphone 4s. Can anyone help?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

What kind of phone is this person using? If this is an iPhone, are you logged into iMessage. If this is not an iMessage, then I suggest you both contact AT&T. SMS which is what is used between non-iPhone devices or between an iPhone and non-iPhone device are a carrier function. There is no setting in iOS or on the iPhone that deals with SMS. If you are able to send iMessage and/or SMS to other people, then AT&T needs to either look into your account to ensure SMS is configured, or they need to look at this other person's phone to see what it is reporting as its number since it is coming back invalid for you.

Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.
Relaunch the App and try again.

Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)
Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.
Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it is likely a hardware problem.

HT4245 cannot text to one contact

My daughter has an Ipone 4s, I have a version 5. I can call facetime her butt cannot text her. She can text me and I cannot respond to her. Looked into all the setting seem to ok.

I can imagine how frustrating this has become for you! I would love to help.
You have already completed all of the troubleshooting we would recommend on your end of the problem. I recommend having your boyfriend open a ticket with his provider, advising them he is unable to receive texts from your number only. It appears there is a problem with the message converting into their network. Let us know how this turns out for you two. Thanks!

New iPhone 5s, cannot text or Face Time with my husband

My husband and I finally got iPhones (now that T-Mobile began offering them – we were able to hold out that long, unbelievable). Needless to say, this is a life changing acquisition.
The problem we just discovered with our days-old phones is that while I am able to text and receive messages from other people, and able to text my husband, he cannot text me – whether as a response to my text, or by starting a new conversation on his end. Sending a text to my phone (and yes, the number is correct) generates a "Delivery failed" alert. Even Siri coudn't pull it off.
Neither of us can Face Time the other, though we can make voice calls to one another. Selecting "Face Time" from my husband's contact page will generate a "Victoria is not available for Face Time," and vice versa.
Face Time, not a huge deal, though it ought to be available. Texting? That is important. And heck, these are brand new and everything should work!
I see from poking into various forums elsewhere that this is not totally uncommon. Does anyone in our community have an idea (other than marriage counseling)?

First, iMessage and Facetime need to be activated in Settings. Check this support document regarding troubleshooting the activation process http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
It also sounds as if you are both sharing the same Apple ID. If that is the case, that can cause a problem as well. These additional support documents might help.

Cannot share my contact

hi few days ago blackberry lunched new sofware 10.3.1.1565 suddenly i have terrible problem first i cannot share my contact by mail or whatsapp or any other way always give me this contact cannot be shared this apply on all my contacts in addition i cannot see on viber my whole contacts , many contact who where on vober earlier i cannot see it to call

I currently have the 10.3.1.1865 operating system and cannot share contacts via Text, BBM or e-mail. Error message displayed is “This contact’s data cannot be shared”. This situation has been a problem since March 2015; we are now in June and still no word as to a fix. I’ve been loyal to BB for 10 yrs. +. I weathered the “Storm” with you guys… don’t give me a reason to “Torch” the relationship. Something as trivial as this issue needs a resolution, because it is an indispensable business tool. PLEASE GET THIS FIXED!!!!

Can't text one contact?

I have a verizon droid maxx my brother has a at&t iPhone we cannot text each other? When I text him it shows its sent but he does not receive anything? I do not have his number blocked. He has his imessager shut off and I do not receive his texts either? We can call each other? I got a new phone in May but it the same as my old one. This problem did not stat till about mid July. We each tried resisting our phones. We each deleted each other out of our contacts and tried that way did not help? His wife also has an iPhone on the same plan and carrier as him and i can text and receive texts from her? I need some help please. Thank you

Cannot text to other than other iPhones

I have read the other posts and tried most solutions but I still cannot text to or receive text messages from non-iPhone users. Just purchased iPhone 5S. Open to other ideas.

Settings/Messages. Turn on Send as SMS. If it was on contact your carrier; you may not have SMS provisioned on your account.

I cannot text to one certain number. I can receive texts from that number and all other numbers. I have done the home button and on/off at same time restart. Nothing. I have deleted the contact and the message thread completely. Nothing. I have tried adding the number in a group message. Nothing. I have sent pictures without text. Nothing. I have spoken with Apple and they ran a diagnostic and everything is fine. Anyone have any answers? HELP.

I have this same issue with 2 phone numbers. I can not text them but they can text me. I figgured out that I had tried to text each one of the numbers without the area code. I got an error message saying I hadn't used the correct amount of numbers. So I added the area code and it still sends me an error text. I have deleted the contact, erased all phone calls and texts, and re-entered the contact info, but it still sends me the error text. If I could figure out how to clear wahatever part of the phone that is remembering the first text(without the area code) I think that would fix it. But I don't know how to do that or do i have the time to research it. Hopefully this ifno can aid in the solution to this issue.

IPhone cannot text one specific number - help appreciated?

So the problem is that I cannot text one specific number (that I text on a daily basis); or rather the text is not getting through to that number... We can call each other and they can text me; but whenever I text them the SMS seems to go through fine on my phone but they never receive it. Texts to other numbers seem to be getting through fine and it happened pretty suddenly.
Any suggestions? I have already performed a Network Reset in the iPhone settings. Could this just be an issue with T-mobile? If so who should I contact about it to alert them - their 'customer care' team?

I can send the text, whether in reply or as a normal message; and it appears to go through. No problems or issues seem to exist according to my phone. Because of this I am very much in agreement with you on your point that it is likely to be their phone/network...
Not too sure about other T-mobile users as I'm not certain which of my contacts are with T-mobile (most people seem to use O2, Orange or Vodafone!)
I have reset my phone and this made no difference to my SMS attempts
I thought it might be a number block too, but phone calls get through fine and surely that would be prevented if my number was accidentally blocked?

Iphone 4 cannot text my droid

i have bought two iphones a 4 and 4s needless to say im not impressed i tried to convert back to android and now my wifes phone the iphone 4 cannot text my number without turning the i message off. is there a fix for this or am i stuck with an iphone
