Cannot text one number

I can not text one number and it is driving me crazy!!  I recieved a message that says "you can only send messages to fixed dialing numbers".  I do not know what that means.  I can send texts to Verizon, and T-Mobile phones.  I can send and recieve calls from the number but I can not text.
This is recent that this has happened.  I was able to send and recieve texts from this one numbers, but it seems as of OCtober, I can not.
Is anyone else having this issue??  It is truely driving me crazy!!

Try checking Menu / Settings / Call Settings / FDN and make sure fix dialing option isnt enabled, if this is on this can restrict in and out going items..
Another thing to check with Verizon and make sure no restrictions is setup on your accounts or you can check and make sure you havent added that number to the block list on the MyVerizon area of your account.

Since last week I cannot text one number in my phone, yet if I move my SIM into another phone it sends... any ideas? have tried wiping the SIM, re-starting the phone...

  • IPhone cannot text one specific number - help appreciated?

    Hi everyone,
So the problem is that I cannot text one specific number (that I text on a daily basis); or rather the text is not getting through to that number... We can call each other and they can text me; but whenever I text them the SMS seems to go through fine on my phone but they never receive it. Texts to other numbers seem to be getting through fine and it happened pretty suddenly.
Any suggestions? I have already performed a Network Reset in the iPhone settings. Could this just be an issue with T-mobile? If so who should I contact about it to alert them - their 'customer care' team?
    _Problem Details_
    My info:
Phone - iPhone 3G with the latest software update that is commercially available through iTunes (I think that this is OS 3.1.3)
    Network - O2
    Location - Manchester, UK
    Their info:
    Phone - Nokia 2330
    Network - T-mobile
    Location - Manchester, UK
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I can send the text, whether in reply or as a normal message; and it appears to go through. No problems or issues seem to exist according to my phone. Because of this I am very much in agreement with you on your point that it is likely to be their phone/network...
Not too sure about other T-mobile users as I'm not certain which of my contacts are with T-mobile (most people seem to use O2, Orange or Vodafone!)
I have reset my phone and this made no difference to my SMS attempts
I thought it might be a number block too, but phone calls get through fine and surely that would be prevented if my number was accidentally blocked?
Thanks for your help I'll get my friend to contact T-mobile tonight...

  • Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact

Suddenly I cannot text one specific contact. They can text me and we can both call each other. My service provider shows no record of texts being sent, even though they appear to be sent from my iphone 4s. Can anyone help?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • Cannot text one contact

I cannot text one contact, my father, who is on the same account as me.  I have Moto X, contact has iPhone 5.  Have deleted contact and turned off/on phone.  Texts from either end do not go through.

Does your father receive texts from other people?  Could he possibly have you blocked (inadvertently or otherwise?).  Call Verizon customer service and have them check the provisioning on his line to ensure texting is fully enabled.
Is he trying to send you an iMessage text?  Have him turn off iMessages and send a regular text.

  • My iphone 5 will not text one number

Have seen previous threads on this issue but none have resolved this matter for me.
There is one number that I cannot text, the other p contact a Samsung GT-S3350(Tesco) mine is on Vodafone.  I can receive texts and calls and can call the number, but texts fail to send and are all marked as Not Delivered.
I have turned both phones on and off, turned on/off iMessage, 3G, data roaming and have reset network settings. I have also deleted the contact from my phone and the other phone.
My wife has an iphone 5 and doesnt have any problems texting the number.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

I did solve the problem. I assumed because the message bubble was green that my friend had another type of phone. I was completely wrong! After I just made sure iMessage was on and restarted my phone it works just fine! So I guess iMessage was the problem ☺️

  • Receiving an error message when texting one number - requesting use of area code. It is there in the contact information.

Received text from friend and whole number is showing. In contact all the number shows but when texting the phone shows an error & requests the area code to be added. I have deleted the contact & the text thread then rebooted the phone but still happening. Help!

I'm sorry you're getting the +1 error message! Apple is working on a bug fix for this issue, fingers crossed it is corrected soon!
There is a work around that has helped many iPhone users experiencing this:
    1. Delete the affected contacts from your phone
    2. Delete the entire conversation thread
    Next:
Go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings (this will delete any saved Wi-Fi passwords; no other data)
Once the phone reboots, add the contact back to your device and start a new message thread.
    I hope this helps you!

  • Cannot text specific number

My husband has an iPhone with ATT through work.  My BB usung Verizon is not getting texts through.  I have tried others with same service as him and we text fine.
    How can this be resolved?

Let's look further into this Cleite17! Text messages are green and iMessages are blue. (iMessages can only be sent between Apple devices) so that makes sense why it is green. Did he just receive this work phone? Did you or your husband get a new phone when this began? Is he having this issue with any other contact? Try deleting his text conversation from your phone and your text conversation from his phone, power both phones off/on, test and share. Thank you.

  • My phone will not text just one number. How do I fix it? Help, please!

I cannot text one single number. I receive his texts, but cannot send out. I have tried everything I have come upon. Verizon was unable to help me in the store, they were boggled as to what it could be. I turned iMessage off, reset, turned it back on. Deleted the contact. Switched the number and texted the individual number. We can call back and forth, no problem. Any info would be helpful, since nothing else is working.

Maybe the issue is with the other person, since you can text everyone else.

  • I cannot text to one certain number.

I cannot text to one certain number.  I can receive texts from that number and all other numbers.  I have done the home button and on/off at same time restart.  Nothing.  I have deleted the contact and the message thread completely.  Nothing.  I have tried adding the number in a group message.  Nothing.  I have sent pictures without text.  Nothing.  I have spoken with Apple and they ran a diagnostic and everything is fine.  Anyone have any answers?    HELP.

I have this same issue with 2 phone numbers. I can not text them but they can text me. I figgured out that I had tried to text each one of the numbers without the area code. I got an error message saying I hadn't used the correct amount of numbers. So I added the area code and it still sends me an error text. I have deleted the contact, erased all phone calls and texts, and re-entered the contact info, but it still sends me the error text. If I could figure out how to clear wahatever part of the phone that is remembering the first text(without the area code) I think that would fix it. But I don't know how to do that or do i have the time to research it. Hopefully this ifno can aid in the solution to this issue.

  • I have one contact that I can call but cannot text. A return text states it is an invalid number. How can I fix it?

I have one contact that I can call but cannot text. A return text states it is an invalid number. I have erased and re-entered the contact, changed phone identification and tried resetting the network - none have worked. What else can I try?

What kind of phone is this person using? If this is an iPhone, are you logged into iMessage. If this is not an iMessage, then I suggest you both contact AT&T. SMS which is what is used between non-iPhone devices or between an iPhone and non-iPhone device are a carrier function. There is no setting in iOS or on the iPhone that deals with SMS. If you are able to send iMessage and/or SMS to other people, then AT&T needs to either look into your account to ensure SMS is configured, or they need to look at this other person's phone to see what it is reporting as its number since it is coming back invalid for you.

  • IPhone "not delivering" text to one number - all others seem fine

    Hi,
A friend of mine is in China and has encountered a bizarre problem.
He had a China Mibile SIM card but on Sunday , bought a China Unicom card so as to get 3G.
Everything works fine, except that he cannot text (SMS) one particular friend who lives nearby him.
Phone calls are not a problem and he can receive texts from her, but my friend tries to text he just gets the red exclamation icon and it says "Not Delivered".
Other numbers he has tried have no problems.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
    Cheers

I've just switched SIM cards with someone else who is on P&G o2 and has an IPhone 5 running 6.1.2. My sim in their phone still won't send texts to the problem number yet their sim in my phone will? Think it might be a network issue?

  • Can't send long texts to one number

    Hi.
I have a Nokia 6500c locked to Orange with up to date software. I'm on the Orange network with a new number which I signed up for just a month ago.
My girlfriend has a Motorola K1 Krzr on O2.
I've been having issues with sending her texts since day one, in that texts one page long always deliver but anything over one page long never arrives. I get a delivery report, but she doesn't get the text.
I don't have this problem with anyone else, including anyone on O2. It's just this one person. Similarly she doesn't have a problem recieving texts from anyone else. She is able to send me texts of any length. I never had this problem when I was with Vodaphone.
We've both contacted our networks and as you'd expect both are blaming the other.
O2 has cleared out their system on several occasions, I've even had them on the phone whilst I send a text to my girlfriends phone and they have no record of it arriving.
I've done the same with Orange who claim that my text leaves their network and they get a response from the O2 network saying it's been delivered.
She's tried putting her sim in a different phone, the problem persisted.
I put my sim in a different phone not locked to Orange, that fixed the problem.
I went abroad a couple of weeks ago, my Nokia 6500c connected to several foriegn networks, that fixed the problem.
I come back to the UK with my handset on Orange, problem persisted.
I'm getting sick of calling Orange who drip feed me ideas for fixing the issue spaced out over several days, and their last response has me thinking they have no idea.
They claim that the software the Orange network uses means that our two handsets are incompatible when it comes to sending a text more than one page long.
I've trawled the net for such compatibility issues and not surprisingly can't find anything. Nokia tech support have never heard of such an issue, the guy I talked to even chuckled at the idea. Several of the Orange call center staff haven't heard of the issue.
So the issue was either made up by the lying technical support of Orange, or I'm the first person in the country to discover the bizzare compatibility problems between the two phones using the Orange network software.
I've asked that my Nokia be unlocked free of charge to see if that resolves the issue, also try a new sim, new handset, and even a new number. I can't think of anything else.
Does anyone else have any ideas what is going on because I'm at a loss.
    Thanks,
    Adam

A locked phone(provider) firmware is somwhat modified with that of an open one, the reason why one can't upgrade one's locked phone even if an upgrade released by Nokia is already available.
From what I understand, it really not the sim card that is at fault nor the phone in particular for it does not have this issue when used in other phone model, the most likely cause is bug in modification of the firmware in phone model(6500c).
You have the right to have it unlocked & have also the firmware updated(Nokia standard) if it is available.

  • I have two numbers listed in my messages tab under settings.  One number is checked(mine) and the other is not(my sons).  However when someone sends me a text it goes to both mine and my sons iphones.  How do i delete his number from my phone.

I have two numbers listed in my messages tab under settings.  One number is checked(mine) and other is not(my sons).  However when someone sends me a test it goes to both numbers.  Mine and my sons.  How do I delete his number so that he no longer received texts intended for me.

The best way is to not share Apple IDs but also make sure under Settings & Messages on both devices that only one phone number is checked.
