Cannot text to some phone numbers

When I try to text my sister's phone I get the error message-  "must contain valid recipients and content"-  I can call her mobile number but can't text to it.  Any ideas on what may be going on?

I note that when I click the number to call from Contacts list her name is in a gray box with a red question mark in front of her name.  Could it some how be entered incorrectly in my contacts list?

Contact your provider and see if they have a means to do this. It can be done for a cost with AT&T.

  • I can't send messages to some phone numbers!

Are there some mobile numbers/Telephone Carriers that cannot receive iMessages?  I have a friend who has recently changed carriers and now I cannot send him messages from my iPhone.  Any help would be most appreciated!

What is preventing you from sending him a message?
Settings > Messages - Send as SMS to On, then if they are not iOS 5 device users (and they are registered with iMessage), it will send a standard SMS message.

  • Can receive texts from some phones but they never get my return text.

Brand new replacement iphone 4S for duplicate issue - can text other iphones and receive texts but NON-iphones cannot receive any texts from my iphone (I can receive their texts, though).  Has anyone else had this problem?

You can't send texts to other phones with iMessage, it only sends and/or receives from other iOS devices. If you want to send text to others phones (other than an iPhone to iTouch), get the third-party app textPlus Free Text + Calls so you can send and received texts from other people.
    Hope this helps.

  • UCCX Scripting: Blocking some phone numbers

    Hi,
I am trying to make a script which would allow calls from only certain phone numbers.
Like e.g. some mobile phones have this option of blocking or not accepting any call from some specific numbers.
Any ideas on how this can be done.
    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi,
    a common setup:
    voice translation-rule 1
    rule 1 reject /9193927393/
    voice translation-profile call_block
    translate calling 1
    dial-peer voice 100 pots
    call-block translation-profile incoming call_block
    call-block disconnect-cause incoming call-reject
    incoming called-number
    port 1/1:23

Of course, the above example does not work with MGCP.
CUCM: it's a bit tricky, but if you happen to have CUCM 8.x you can use the External Routing Rules (CURRI or what they call it now I don't know). Basically it's an XML telling CallManager who to allow.

  • Star symbols adjacent to some phone numbers in Contacts

Anyone know what the little star symbol next to some telephone numbers in Contacts means? I can't seem to find anything that describes it.

  • I cannot see all mobile phone numbers in Messages after upgrade to iOS 6

I have two mobile number entries for most of my contacts, for example:
    +853 1234 5678
    0060 853 1234 5678
The first entry is for dialing the mobile number when I am overseas, and need to use the international prefix "+". I also use this for sending SMS messages or iMessage.
The second entry is pre-entered to use 0060 as the international prefix when dialling long distance from my home country; this enables me to enjoy lower long-distance rates.
I have since upgraded to iOS 6, and now have a major problem. When I go into Messages and start a new message, I cannot select the number "+853 1234 5678" to send my message. It only shows "0060 853 1234 5678", and of course, this cannot be used to send messages. This seems to me that iOS 6 is not distinguishing the above two entries as two unique numbers. In other words, the "prefix" does not count. However, if I change the "0060 853 1234 5678" to "0060 853 1234 6787", then I can see both numbers in Messages (since then, both numbers are unique).
I have since found out through trial and error that if I list the numbers in my contacts page in the reverse order, that is:
    0060 853 1234 5678 and then
    +853 1234 5678
then, I can see +853 1234 5678 but not the first entry. It seems that the first entry in the contact list is overriden by subsequent entries of the same mobile number.
This was not a probem in iOS 5. Any fix for this matter in iOS 6?

tanks for ur help. it is sms. I have contacted my service providers and they said there is no issue with my messages. so I believe something is wrong with the fone.

  • Need to correct and update my contacts' phone numbers

I need to correct and update (or delete) my contacts' telephone number, but there seems to be no place to edit phone numbers or delete them, once they are in the list.
Everything else seems fine, but I cannot delete old/wrong phone numbers.
The Help docs make no mention of editing contacts, strangely.
I am running Skype v5.8.0 on Mac OSX MountainLion.

The matter of contacts is a complicated one. Skype has a number of different contact types (Lync, Facebook, Skype, MSN/MSA, SkypeOut, AddressBook), and unfortunately some of them behave differently.
The thing to know is this: you are not allowed to delete a contact's identity. This is the string or number that Skype uses to uniquely identify a contact. It makes some intuitive sense: you probably wouldn't expect to be able to view your friend's Skype profile and edit their Skype name. At the very least, if this were a limitation, you'd probably understand why that was so.
Phone numbers in Skype work the same way. You can add and delete numbers to your heart's content AS LONG AS: (1) those numbers are not the identity number; (2) the contact type allows it (e.g. not Facebook, Lync, AB); and (3) they were added by you in Skype (not the Address Book).
The situation that seems to be tripping people up in this thread is when you create a contact which has a phone number as its identity. These numbers are called SkypeOut contacts, because they will use the SkypeOut service to call over the PSTN network instead of VOIP. They can be created in the Add Contact page, or by using the little plus button in the History or Conversation views after you’ve already made a call to the number.
Since Skype uses a phone number to refer to these SkypeOut contacts, and to save and recall history about them, you cannot remove that number. Skype wouldn’t know what to call this contact anymore without its identity. This is the behavior that tmcdanel was describing. You can change the number, but deleting it would lead to the contact itself (and all its other numbers and information) being deleted. And that may not what you were after.
So, where does that leave us?
If you have a SkypeOut contact which you want to change the number for, you can Edit the identity and change it. (It wasn’t always so: this feature was released about a year ago.)
If you’ve added other numbers in the meantime and would like one of those to become the identity, you can rotate one of them in by copying the number, deleting it from further down the list and then pasting it into the identity field (the first one in the list on the contact info page).
If you are never going to call this person again, and don’t have a new number for them, then you can delete the contact entirely. Do this by selecting the contact in the Contact List and pressing Delete. This won’t delete the history of calls and SMSes that you’ve made to that number, it will just remove the contact from your contact list. And if you ever you get a new number for them, you can add a new contact with the new number.
What I do personally is try to use SkypeOut contacts sparingly. I always add a number to the person’s Skype contact if I can.
I definitely recognize that this could be much simpler. Unfortunately, I can't provide a timeline for a more unified contact experience. But I thought people would want to know why it works the way it does at present. Hopefully this will give you a clear idea of how to use SkypeOut contacts as they exist today.

  • Phone Numbers are not visible in PC

I own N95 three years and until recently I could edit the contacts in the phone via PC Suite. But since last month I do not see phone numbers in PC suite. I can see data in fields Names, addresses, companies etc. but fields "phone number" and "telephone number" is empty. However If I open contact directly on my mobile I can see this numbers.  I tried install the newest version of PC suite, but without success. Next I tryed this steps: to install older version PC suite,  to install Nokia Ovi Suite, other computer, export contact to excel, always without success. I cannot make backup of phone numbers only names of contact. Any idea?

I agree that this is an answer for issue but the space is assigned by iOS in contacts, not myself and the phone call in roaming either from operater and software, but software must be able to match it or not to save it on contact details with space after country code.

  • OS X Mavericks Contacts phone numbers shown as Floating point numbers

After installing Mavericks on MBP, I notice that some phone numbers in contacts are shown as floating point numbers, and are unreadable. I am guessing that these are numbers which were proceeded by "+" previously.
An example is 4.9161E+12, which is for a German contact, and the number would be +49 161...
I can't see any way to change the format, and the floating point display is useless, as the last digits are lost.
Would appreciate any advice on the matter.
    Many thanks,
    Michael.

Music and pics are one way sync - computer to iphone. The iphone is not a storage device.
Only itunes purchased music can be transfered. With iphone attached to itunes, click file>transfer purchases.
Pics are optimized for viewing on iphone, reducing the quality of the pic on the iphone. Only pics taken with iphone and in the Camera Roll can be imported from iphone. This is done as with any other digital camera. You can e-mail the other pics to yourself one at a time. They will not be of the original quality though.
You really should back up your info/pics/music as hard drives can and do fail.

  • Migrating address book to 10.5.2, missing phone numbers

I migrated from OS 10.3.9 on a Powerbook G4 to 10.5.2 on my new MacBook Pro. It mostly went well except for an oddity in Address Book. Most data moved over except of some phone numbers. There is no pattern except that on some entries none of the phone numbers came across, sometime a partial list of the numbers came over and sometimes all of the numbers. Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a fix? I saved earlier versions of Address Book backups on disc but am unsure if there is a way to import only the missing data.

    Hi Janderso6,
You can export personal address book by  opening CUCM CLI and type below this commands :
    show tech table personaladdressbook csv
    show tech table personalphonebook csv
and then "file get activelog FileName" to get the files.
Note: There is no way to add these entries via BAT.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

  • My android 2.3 upgrade deleted phone numbers and won't let me edit some of my contacts now.

My Android 2.3 upgrade deleted contacts, deleted some random phone numbers, gave me text and email options for people when it eliminated needed phone numbers. It now has contact from Facebook and yahoo... and I can't seem to edit these and add in the phone numbers it deleted. I need help!!! I am soo  frustrated with this new upgrade, I have barely used my phone for days now!! How do I fix this?

LadyLaRee, I can understand how losing contacts can be frustrating! First, which Android do you have? If you have numbers from Facebook, those cannot be edited because the information is coming from the user's Facebook profile. Also, your contacts from Yahoo may only have the email address which is why it is showing that way. They would need to update the number on their profile. The settings will vary by phone, but if you open your contacts, press the Menu button, you will normally have options for View or something similar. You can select which contact groups you want to show or not. Verify which options are checked. You can deselect Facebook or Yahoo if you choose. You will also have an option to only display contacts with phone numbers.

  • I downloaded the ios6 to my iphone and my moms phone  Now they are syncronized and I lost my contacts. All my phone numbers have emails in them but no phone numbers. Now whenever I get or send a text it shows up on her phone. How do I reverse it?

I downloaded the ios6 update for the iphone to my phone and my moms"s phone. Now they are syncronized and I lost my contact telephone numbers. Now when I get a text or send  text it shows up on my mom's phone. I asked for help from the people at the ATT store and had no idea how to help me. That is crazy that they don't even know anything about their own products! This is EXTREMELY frustrating. Did you create a software that cannot be reversed or corrected? How to I restore my phone to the way it was? I am being told it can't be done. I have been an ATT customer for 8 years but I would love to go to Verizon right now. Pleae let me know how to reverse this and get the phones unsynced.

If you share an Apple ID, both of your phone numbers should be linked to that ID. You should be able to use your phone number as well. My wife, my daughter and I all share an Apple ID for purchases, and we each text from our iOS devices using our own iPhone numbers.
When iOS 6 came out, you were able to link the phone number with your Apple ID to use for Messages and FaceTime. You will need to sign out of messages on all devices and then start the process all over again.
    Take a look at this.
