Cannot transfer Apps / Music / Pod Casts to iphone from itunes

I am now unable to drag and drop apps / music / pod casts as before. Each time I attempt it as soon as the file is over my iphone a "no entry" sign appears.
I am sure this may have happened before and it was cured by down loading / installing a driver / piece of software from apple butr for the life of me I cannot remember the name.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Likewise, I am experiencing the same problem. In addition, I have also hit two other issues which have happened simultaneously;
I now have to log on with my password every time I open iTunes (didn't have to do this previously)
Updates for my apps which are ready for download appear on my phone, but do not appear on my iTunes (which they did previously).
So there are three problems, which have all come at the same time.
Anyone out there with answers??

You can sync from computer to iphone. Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want, sync.

Unless I'm mistaking what you're seeing, "transfer purchases" means that it's offering to transfer your purchased tracks from the iPod back to iTunes. If you have iTunes set to synchronize with your iPod automatically (the default), then all your tracks will be copied to the iPod without iTunes asking for any sort of confirmation.
So to basics; did you copy your iTunes library from your former computer to your new one by some method and if so how? Or are you trying to transfer all your tracks from your iPod into iTunes on your new computer?

Just upgraded to a new iPhone. I have lost ALL my Shazzammed music and Grocery IQ data. I would REALly like to get that info on my new phone. If not, I'd rather have my old one!
BTW--I have the actual apps and all my contacts etc. bc I did a successful transfer/sync from iTunes. It's just the DATA that was part of my apps that is missing. Thx.

Hi all for those still poping over to this topic, here is one problem that has not highlighted in the forums.
if you have used different accounts to download different apps into your ipad/iphone you need to authorize the computer for both accounts.
eg. [email protected] downloaded 'angry birds' and [email protected] downloaded 'money converter' both accounts need to be authorized on the computer will you then be able to transfer all the apps.
this works if you also used more then 3 accounts to download apps to your ipad/iphone. if you can't remember which accounts downloaded then i can't really help you there haha.

How did you get it onto the phone in the first place? You had to have synced it from a computer if it wasn't purchased from the iTunes store. You should still have it in your iTunes library...
Other than for items purchased from the iTunes store, media sync is one way, computer to iPhone. There is no supported method of getting other music off of the phone to a computer. If you google, you may find some useful utilities that will help.
If the media resides on a different computer and you're changing the one you are going to sync with, just back up the iTunes library and transfer it to the new computer.

Why won't my music sync to my iPhone from iTunes?!?

I have been having such a hard problem with syncing my music from iTunes (which is up to date) to my iPhone 4S (which is also up to date). I have tried restoring my phone three times. It's recently backed up. All my music was wiped from my phone, on my phone it says it has 8.1 GB of free space. But on iTunes the bar (that informs you what takes up space on your device) tells me that there's music synced to the phone and its taking up 6.36 GB. But in Music on my phone it says there's "No Content"!!! I've tried to sync it repeatedly. I've tried unchecking the music box syncing it and then checking it again and syncing it. And every couple attempted syncs iTunes will say its syncing my music and then on the fourth or fifth song cancels the sync. There's definitely enough space on my 16GB phone, I don't know whats going on! I just want my music back!!! (Also, most of the music might not be directly bought from Apple, if you get my drift. )

I found the route of the problem! All the songs under 'On This Phone' are completely grayed out! The only question is now how do I ungray them???

My computer was stolen and I cannot transfer my music from my Iphone to a new PC with I-tunes.

I had all my music in my I-tunes library of a computer that was stolen. I bought a new PC and installed I-tunes. Even if I log in with my apple store account this new I-tunes does not accept a transfer between my iphone and my pc. And I cannot add new music to my i-phone from this new computer using I-tunes. I can do it using another software, but since we users of Iphone are stuck with Itunes, I want this new Itunes to recognize my iphone music library and let me use it.
Is there any way to do this?

When syncing your iPhone to the new computer, it will want to erase and sync. This is because an iPhone can only be synced to one computer at a time. You can attempt to transfer purchases from the iPhone to your computer, but keep in mind that this will only transfer the music that was purchased from iTunes. Any other music that you have on your device will be lost during the syncing process. If you wish to transfer that music from the iPhone to the new computer as well, you will have to browse Google for some third party software that has been designed to do this. iTunes does not offer this ability, as this is to prevent digital piracy.

If you are trying to drag a song over, do you have Manually Manage Music checked in iTunes? You need to check your iTunes settings before trying to put music on it. It may be that you have it set to sync. Check the Summary page of iTunes after you have selected the iPhone in iTunes.

Connect & select iPhone in iTunes Sudebar (iTunes > View > Show Sidebar), in Music tap (right pane top), select Sync Music and the music you want on iPhone then click Apply button (bottom right).

Copy the entire iTunes folder from \Users\<User>\Music on the old drive into your music folder on the new computer.
