Cannot transfer music onto new shuffle

I just purchased a shuffle (new version). When I plug it in, itunes opens by default, and I get the message "ipod sync is complete. ok to disconnect". Then when I try to transfer anything from "music" or "just purchased" or anywhere else, nothing happens. I hit "autofill" and nothing happens. If I try to manually drag song titles to the device, a circle with a slash through it appears over the title and it doesn't transfer. I had an earlier version shuffle which I used on a different computer. Could the new one somehow be linked to my old account and computer? What's going on here? Help!

Have you registered your Shuffle within iTunes? Try playing one of the songs that don't load in iTunes first and then try loading it to the Shuffle.

Need to transfer music onto new computer, old computer crashed

I need to transfer my iTunes music onto my new Mac Book Pro...my old PowerBook had a MAJOR crash and is completely done (and yes, I took it to Apple, it's pretty much hosed - won't even boot up). Luckily, I've got all of my music stored on an external hard drive, and I have a copy of my library file as well. Is there a way to transfer this onto my new Mac and still be able to keep my old ratings and playlists? Any help would be appreciated.

Never mind...I figured it out, just replaced the new Library file with my old one, and all seems fine.

What do you mean by "cannot download"?
To sync your music to your iPod, just connect your iPod to iTunes, select your iPod, and click Sync.

Cannot transfer music onto 3Gs

this may be me doing something wrong....but i will explain.
Have just bought a 3GS and want to put my itunes library on it, phone is registered with carrier, shows up in iTunes, when i try and drag a purchased song into the iPhone it wont receive it

believe me i was being serious, however let me expand on my original post....
I have had many ipods and am used to just 'dragging' the tunes i want on a tune by tune basis or selecting a bunch of them and dragging them, with the iphone i can seem to do this, as you have pointed out i have to go through what seems to be a really long winded way of selecting Genre/Artist/etc or sync the entire lot 20,000+ tunes
Compared to say an ipod nano this way of syncing seems to be so much more labour intensive and makes choosing so much more difficult, that's my take on it anyway.

Cannot transfer songs onto new IPod.

OK, just got the 60GB IPod. When I try to load my library on it, the ITunes says it is transferring them. I watch it go on and on saying they are loading...then when it is over....nothing on my IPod. Actually, a few songs make it, not all. When I go into ITunes, under the source menu and select my IPod, it shows as if all the songs are on there. I tried deleting the software and reinstalling it for both the IPod and ITunes, and same result.
What can I do? Also, when it says how much capacity my IPod has, it comes out to 114 GB or so......strange.

Strange iPod behavior.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

If you want to use automatic syncing, which is the best way to load content on an iPod, here's how to do it.
Select the iPod in iTunes. There is a row of "tabs" (buttons) starting with Summary. Next to Summary, find and click on the Music. This screen is the Music tab where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to your iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music. If your entire music library fits on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Then...
Below that, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod. When you click Apply, your selection syncs to the iPod. Going forward, any changes to your iTunes library that relate to your selection on the Music tab sync automatically to the iPod, when you connect it (or click the Sync button).
Here's one easy way to set it up. In your iTunes library, create a new regular playlist; call it something like "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want). From your main iTunes music library, load that iPod Songs playlist with the songs you want on the iPod. On the iPod's Music tab, select ONLY that iPod Songs playlist (under Playlists). When you click Apply, those songs sync to the iPod. Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that iPod Songs playlist (add and/or remove songs) in iTunes and connect your iPod.
To load other types of content, such as podcasts and audiobooks, set up the other "tabs."

Old shuffle was defective...apple sent a new one...now need to transfer music from old shuffle to new one. Please help. Apple support says.....can't be done....but...go to apple community and ask for help. HELP!!!!!!!

When I try to "drag and drop" a song, it just does not allow me to do it (circle with line thru it). I should also mention that I just changed PC's as well. I tsnsferred all of the music files from the hdd of the old to the new. After reading some of the other posts, I think this might have more to do with the problem than the switch to itunes 10.6.3?

Make sure the "Sync Music Tab" is checked. If it isn't, when you check it, it will prompt you that you can only sync to one iTunes library at a time. The iPod will have to be erased to sync with the new library.
