Cannot Transfer Purchased Item To iPod

Hi,
I have never really used the iTunes Store, but I recently acquired a gift card from a friend, so I decided to get some stuff off of it. The last time I used the Store was when it first came out, years ago.
The problem I am having is this : Any purchased music or videos will not transfer to my iPod. So far I have only downloaded 3 items :
Pilot - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TV Show, Free)
Gnothi Seauton - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (TV Show, $1.99)
Shockwave - Black Tide (Song / Free)
I would purchase more items, but iTunes will not let me transfer them to my iPod, so I don't see any reason in getting the music if I can't listen to it on my iPod.
When I drag the purchased songs to my iPod, I get the following message :
Some of the iTunes Store files in the itunes library were not copied to the iPod "80GB iPod Video [White]" because the iPod may only contain content from five iTunes Store accounts.
As I said earlier, I have only used the Store once, way back when it first started. Since then I have gotten a new computer, and a new iPod. So there should be absolutely no files purchased from the iTunes Store on either my computer, or my iPod.
Thanx to anyone who can help.
Additional Information
Computer Type : MacBook 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Late 2007 Model)
iPod Type : 80GB iPod Video (5th Generation)
iTunes Version : 7.6
Mac OSX Version : 10.5.1

you need to Authorize your Computer.
I Couldn't Put the Games I Bought off iTunes On my iPod until I Authorized the Computer.
In iTunes:
Click Store at the Top where File, Edit Etc are,
And go down to Authorize Computer.
Your Welcome

It doesn't work when I press "transfer purchased items from ipod" and I don't know specidicly whitch item I need to transfer.
Whenever i press "transfer purchased items from ipod", itunes sync's for about 3 seconds, but I still can't install updates on the ipod without itues warning me about purchased items on the ipod, that aren't in the itunes library. I've tried folowing the steps in itunes help, but I can only find a step guide for when you know the specific item that needs transferring, and I donøt know that specific item.

This Apple Tech Note explains the process:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848
It will transfer all purchased items that the computer you are transferring to is authorised to play: you don't have to select the items.

I've tried the 5Rs and have restored the mini several times, but nothing seems to work.

how to transfer purchased item from itunes to an ipod? Spent about an hour and cannot figure out how to do that The best result this far was smth. like this to Sync a book means that all your music, songs, TV show and movies will be erased. What a strange Apple logic!

That message indicate that you are trying to sync with other than the one syncing computer/iTunes library that yo can have. You have to two choices:
    - Make this computer your syncing computer by:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
    - The manual method of syncng specified here:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    or
iTunes 11 for Mac: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
The manaul method on works for music and videos on other than your one syncing computer.

Hi: I got my ipod in 2011 and synced it to my old computer. The music that Is on it is from imported cd, so I cannot transfer purchases to my new computer. I also want to keep the settings, favourites, folders, and information that is on my ipod. How do i sync it to new computer? Please Help.

You will also have to copy the iPod backup file to the new computer and then restore your iPod from backup using that backup. The file is located here:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory
You can also  make a backup on the new computer by conneting the iPod and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting BackUp. When you retore from backup sometime the app folder structure get messed up.

  • Is it possible to transfer purchased items ownership?

    Hi all,
New here so be gentle. Please read whole post before replying: the point comes further down. My Father-in-law has an iPod/iTunes and he has purchased a few audiobooks that seem like they'd be worth a listen. However, obviously they cannot be put onto MY iPod & transferred to my PC due to them being purchased by him. I wouldn't want to infinge any T&Cs in this.
No-one other than he knows the password for his AppleID to sign into the store, so I cannot setup a different user account on my PC to use his files.
Now unfortunately he died a few weeks ago and it would be a shame if his purchases were to go to waste. I know I could burn the tracks I wanted to a CD and rip them back into iTunes on my PC, but since audiobooks tend to take multiple CDs I was hoping that would be a slightly easier way whereby the purchases could be transferred from HIS ownership to mine. It's not like they would be being used by more than one person at once - the original PC would be unable to play them since they no longer belonged to that user account.
Anyway, any ideas welcome. As I said, it'd be shame if these purchases had to be disposed of.

Sorry, you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another. I am not exactly sure what Apple could do about that since obviously you have no access to his account.
I am sorry for your loss though.

  • How to transfer purchased songs from ipod touch to itunes

how do i transfer songs i bought from the wifi music store onto my itunes library?
i manually manage my music so when i hit sync, it doesn't do it. when i hit file, transfer purchases from my ipod, it transfers all purchased songs, even ones i bought on other computers and then put on my ipod, not just through the wifi music store. How do i transfer just the ones purchased on my ipod?

    Hi ipodtuser234,
Clicking "Synchronize" will only transfer songs from the library to the iPod.
To transfer music donwloaded from iTunes Music Wi-Fi Store to the computer, connect your iPod then right-click you iPod name on the Source list and hit "Transfer Purchases".
Here you have an article about that: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465
To transfer only determined song from the iPod to your iTunes library. See my post [here|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6923237#6923237].
    Hope this helps!

I tried to transfer purchases from my iPod to a new computer, but for some of the songs it asks for a different Apple ID and password than mine. Ideas?

You definitely need to resurrect the old password associated with the Apple ID you used to purchase the music.
    Go here: https://iforgot.apple.com
An email will be sent to the email address associated with that account with instructions regarding resetting that Apple ID's password.
If you no longer have access to that email, the resolution to this problem becomes considerably more difficult. In that event you would need to contact iTunes Support and explain your dilemma.
