Cannot transfer TV show purchases at all

In reading the many issues on Apple TV purchases, it's supposed to work like this (correct me if I'm wrong please);
• Purchase a TV show or movie via Apple TV
• Apple TV syncs with iTunes and copies to the iTunes library on the computer
• iTunes now has a copy AND Apple TV has a copy (after "transfer purchases" is selected of course)
I wish my Apple TV worked this way.
Right now, if I make a purchase on the ATV, the TV show/movie shows up on the Apple TV and never goes into the iTunes library. Never. I tried the de-authorize/authorize trick with no luck. I have about $200 worth of purchases that are held on my Apple TV and will not go anywhere. I have a good wi-fi connection and can stream video from my Mac. I can make purchases on my Mac and stream them too. Just no ability to transfer purchases from my Apple TV to my Mac.
Anyone have this problem and better yet a solution?

You can only have one itunes library that syncs (copies/mirrors) iTunes content to your AppleTV, it ALSO streams (transfers files as they play across the network)any content not synced (copied/mirrored) to AppleTV.
You can have up to 5 streaming libraries too (these would appear under Shared Music/Movies etc).
The 'reverse sync' of purchases from AppleTv to iTunes only happens with the 'sync' library I believe.
When you set up a new 'sync' library it will delete any pre-exisiting synced content transferred from iTunes to AppleTV but I'm not sure if it also deletes AppleTV purchases - if it does you lose them all.
Frankly purchasing on AppleTv is not as foolproof as it should be - there really ought to be a manual method (eg drag and drop) for getting purchases off AppleTV onto the computer to back them up. If they sync back to iTunes then that's great but if they don't there's no simple way to access them with the computer.

  • Cannot transfer TV shows from computer to iPad

I have both a iPad 1 and 2. With neither am I able to transfer TV Shows or Movies from my Mac running 10.7.2 to my iPad running iOS 5.01. Everything appears to work and sync, but nothing appears under videos on my iPads.

Update.  I have been able to (re)download the two shows by accessing the iTunes Store from my iPad.  It did not seem to charge me a second time so I guess its no longer an urgent inquiry.  However I am curious why I can click and drag songs and podcasts from my computer's iTunes library onto my iPad but not TV shows.
Although perhaps this explains why the only other show I have watched on my new iPad, a free pilot episode for a new series, was marketed as a podcast at the iTunes store.

  • Why does apple not let me reauthorise all pcs i recently purchased a macbook pro and i cannot transfer my iPhone purchases onto my mac

it says i have authorised 5 computers i have not authorised 5 computers and its not letting my deauthorise all computers it says october 2012... cant wait that long could you people plz tell me how to sort this matter out

If you "deauthorized all" last October then you cannot do it again for another 12 months.
Since you just purchased a MBP you may be eligible for free support from AppleCare. If anyone can authorize another "deathorize all" it would be AppleCare so call them.

  • I cannot transfer a movie purchased from iTunes from my MacBook to my iPad.

Other purchased movies will transfer, but this one won't. This is the error message I get:
"...was not copied because you are not authorized on this computer "
Every device has been authorized as well. I just can't figure out why it won't transfer. Dragging & dropping it doesn't work either.

Yes, if the movie has been downloaded to the iPad, then you can watch it without Wi-Fi.

  • I have a itunes account but i would like to transfer my app purchases onto my google play?

I have a itunes account but i would like to transfer all my app purchases onto my google play or play store account how do i do that?..i already transfer my music too but i dont know how to transfer my app purchases at all please help!

That's a question for Google. If Google wants to give you credit for purchases that you have made from Apple, then that is between you and Google. As far as Apple would be concerned, you don't have anything to transfer.

  • I bought a few songs on itunes but the songs appear in grey letters and I cannot transfer them to my iphone. I've bought/rented TV shows/movies since so there isn't an issue with my account. How can I get these newly purchased songs onto my iphone?

You made a purchase and exhausted the credit on your card before it processed. All purchases are final. Contact iTunes Store support. You need to settle up before you can purchase or download anything else.

  • Deactivated all computers and reactivated 1 computer. still cannot transfer purchased music.

Deactivated all computers. Reactivated 1 computer. Cannot transfer purchased music because itunes Stores says i still have 5 computers activated already.

If you did not already, I would try quitting iTunes and launching it again (or even restarting your computer because part of iTunes may keep running even when you quit iTunes).  Also, if you used the Deauthorize All command from the button on the Account Information screen (as described in my earlier reply), it's possible that Apple's server database needs to get updated in a way that is not immediate.  So I would try waiting a few hours and then try to authorize your laptop again.
Question:  You said you "reactivated" your laptop.  Does that mean it was already one of your authorized computers before you gave the Deauthorize All command?  Or is this a new computer that has never been authorized with your Apple ID (iTunes Store account)?
NOTE:  Only older 128 kbps songs purchased from the iTunes Store had DRM, so if this song is a recent purchase (without DRM), it should play whether the computer is authorized for the Apple ID or not.

  • ITunes - purchases cannot transfer to iPod because computer is not authoriz

iTunes says my purchases cannot transfer to my iPod because my computer is not authorized to play them.
Yet, after putting my password in to "authorize" the computer the purchases play just fine. Still, they cannot be transfered.
I took screenshots to email them to support, but as always they didn't know how to help me. I wish I could show them here, here is the description at least.
Itunes1. Here you can see that my iTunes is up to
date, the songs have been purchased, and they are
playing, thus showing that the computer IS activated.
Itunes2. Here you can see that my iPod software is up
    to date.
Itunes3. Here you can see the error message that I've
been getting, that my computer IS NOT authorized. But
from jpg 1, you can see that it obviously IS
authorized. Now can you see my frustration? Can someone
PLEASE help me fix this problem?
    Ryan

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

My apple id attached to my itunes account has expired
They don't expire. As far as anyone knows Apple IDs live on forever - if you forgot its password use https://iforgot.apple.com. Good luck with the answers to whatever security questions it asks.
... I have created a new apple id but cannot transfer it to my itunes which all my apple products connect up to on my mac with all my pictures etc on!?!
Right! That's the reason you do not create a new Apple ID.
As far as Apple is concerned a new Apple ID is a completely different user, with absolutely, positively no access to anything available to any other Apple ID.
Concentrate your efforts on resetting the password to your old Apple ID. It has not expired, and is the only way to use all your existing iTunes purchases, App Store purchases, computer authorizations... etc. Forget about the new Apple ID you just created.

If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.

  • My iTunes library only shows purchased songs but i have more music on my iPod if it syncs i lose it all?

My iTunes Library only shows purchased songs from iTunes, i have music on my iPod from purchased and cds i have burnt from my computer, this all used to show up in my library but since having to have a new hard drive in my computer my library only shows purchsed songs. If i want to sync my iPod it tells me i will lose all exsisting music which i don't want to do, can anyone help?

    - TransferiTunes purchases to the "new" computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - When all ths stuff is in your iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and then right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
    - Last, restore from that backup and then sync as necessary.

You will also have to copy the iPod backup file to the new computer and then restore your iPod from backup using that backup. The file is located here:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP,  Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory
You can also  make a backup on the new computer by conneting the iPod and right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting BackUp. When you retore from backup sometime the app folder structure get messed up.
