Cannot turn autonegotiation off in atheros ar8151 ethernet card

My isp requires me to turn autonegotiation off and use 10mbps full duplex as connection type, I do that for my laptop using ethtool
#ethtool -s eth0 autoneg off speed 10 duplex full
And i can successfully use the internet but, my desktop has a atheros ar8151 using the atl1c driver and if give the same command in ethtool it does not change autonegotiation to off. Although it says autonegotiation advertised is off, but autonegotiation status still remains on.
This cause serious packet loses and i can't use the internet.
Is this a kernel bug? or the alt1c driver? I am facing the same problem in ubuntu 12.04 using the 3.2 kernel

You can access iCloud.com on a computer to turn it off.

Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • I've just upgrade my ios 5.1 to ios 6 but my ipod is now hanging up and i cannot turn it off even i follow the troubleshooting procedures. What should I do? I don't know what is the problem.

I have problem with my Ipod touch when I upgrade it with ios 6. I cannot turn it off. I have alrealy followed the troubleshooting instructions to press both the off/sleep button and the home button but still it will not turn off. I cannot use my ipod anymore for it is just hanging up.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi, benson -
If it is a matter of VoiceOver being turned on when you press Shift-S, you can change the keyboard command key combo for that. Open System Preferences, select the Keyboard item. In the new window, click the Keyboard Shortcuts button.
In the left list, click Universal Acess. In the new list on the right, be sure the last item, "Turn VoiceOver on or off", is checkmarked, then click the command-key setting on the right of that line. A small text box will open - enter the new command-key combo you wish to reset it to.
Suggestion - the original setting for that is Command-F5 (that's the number 5, not the letter S). Unless you have a particular need to use Command-F5 for something else, I would reset it to that. If you do need to set it to something else, include the Command-key as part of the combo - doing so prevents accidental activation when using routine keyboard strokes.

Hi, my ipad mini has suddenly stopped working and I cannot turn it off or connect it to the computer, can anyone help me on this??

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

That is what Activation Lock of iOS 7 does
In addition, it renders the iPhone totally useless to anyone who doesn't know your Apple ID and password.

Since updating my iPad 2 to IOS6 and activating my icloud for backup, my iPad has permanently locked. Message on screen is "iPad Not Backed Up". I click ok but no response. Cannot turn power off and cannot restore via my pc itunes. What are my options?

Thanks to everyone who responded and related subject helped. Holding the home button and power button simultaneously for 10-15 seconds does unlock the screen. I can now use my ipad again. However, a futher problem has arisen since updating to IOS6 and activating icloud at same time, Although not sure if its related. The problem is that when connected to my PC the itunes message appears 'Cannot read ipad'. It instructs you to restore but keeps timing out after about 1 hour. This maybe internet issue but can't understand why itunes cannot read my ipad. May need to completely erase all content & reset. Or any other suggestions why this has happened?

I cannot turn voiceover off in Ipad2. Also can not see accessibility button on seetings / general. Last button i can scroll is "RESTRICTION" button. I also tried triple clicking home button, still can not get over. Please help.

Are you not able to scroll down the righ-hand side of Settings > General using three fingers on the screen ?
The manual (http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) also says that you should be able to switch voice-over off by connecting to your computer's iTunes :
Turn VoiceOver on or off in iTunes:Connect iPad to your computer and select iPad in the iTunes device list. Click Summary, then click Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary screen.
So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set 'Seeing' to 'Neither'

  • Cannot turn sounds off on new version of Scrabble

I downloaded the latest version of Scrabble from ITunes and I find that I cannot turn sounds off.
From within the program when I try to do this I'm told I must exit the game, go to settings and then notifications. When I do so I see that sounds are already set off, yet I still hear them when I go back to the game. I have also tried turning them on, and then off again but this does not work either. Finally, I deleted the app, re-downloaded from ITunes with the same results.
What is worse is that EA has a completely unsatisfactory support policy. Basically, they send me to Apple. I can't even leave an email on their "support" site.
This is a bug. It must be fixed. I paid for this application, it was working until I "upgraded". Can someone tell me how to get a satisfactory resolution to this problem? I play Scrabble on my IPhone a lot. But these sounds make it unusable.

    Been there, done that.
    Set up account.
I originally sent them an email which directed me to

    This redirects to

I click "Email Us". (There is no "Contact Us" link as indicated on that page. This leads to a page that forces you to pick a platform and "IPhone" is not among the choices. Nor is "Apple IPhone" nor "AT&T IPhone" nor any other variation I can think of.

iTouch is locked on screen were it wants me to connect to iTunes.  I cannot turn iTouch off or default back to main page.  Any suggestions?

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the reset doesn't help, try a Restore.  From iTunes, select the iPad and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finished, you will be asked if you wish the contents of iTunes to be copied to the iPad.

Then the SIM may have failed. Try removing and re-inserting it. If that doesn't fix it, you will have to get the SIM replaced by your carrier.

  • I CANNOT TURN NANO OFF OR RESET!!!

I just purchased a Nano on Friday. I downloaded songs, set the time, etc. When I turned it on this morning, it says:
    "Wheel Test"
    Spin wheel
    CurrentVal=54
    0 * * 3 4 5 6 7
    8 * * B C D E F
    Fail again!
The 2 lines with letters, asterisks, and numbers each have a little black box around it.
I cannot turn it off, reset, nothing! I have tried everything on the web site!

Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
