Cannot turn of Facebook notifications

After a quick search it seems that I am having the opposite problem from some other posters. I cannot turn off Facebook notifications.
I've went to system prefs / internet accounts and disabled the Facebook account by setting it to inactive, which didn't work, so I went back into system prefs/ internet accounts and deleted the Facebook account entirely, so that Facebook no longer shows up at all in hte left hand collumn of the system preferences pane.
No matter, not even 5 minutes after I did this a Facebook notofication banner popped up on my screen, letting me know that someone had direct messaged me.
*Note - When I slide open the notification drawer on the left hand side of my screen there are no entires for Facebook, but I still receive the banners on my screen.
This is super distracting when I am trying to work. I'd prefer not to disable notification center entirely because some notifications are relevant while I work.

I found out the hard way, that you need to go into Messaging>Preferences>Accounts>
and look for: [email protected]
uncheck: Enable this account
it is on by default when you establish Facebook in the OS. And the messaging in the new MacOS has all of your
messgaing by default, and it looks like Facebook uses Jabber to send all that data to the Notifications program via Messages
Now I am free of all that annoying updates.
NOTE: this will only work after you folliw James's instructions above.

How to turn off Facebook Notification Sounds?

I just discovered that I cannot turn off Sounds for Facebook integration in Notification Centre on Mountain Lion.
All the other services I use - Photo Stream, Messages, Reminders, etc. - have three options to check off. "Show in Notification Centre," "Badge app icon," and "Play sound when receiving notifications." I have the third option unchecked for all services, but Facebook does not even display this option. Yet, in the sidebar, I can see that "Badges, Sounds, Banners" are enabled under Facebook.
Why does Facebook appear to offer more restricted integration options?

ICal: cannot turn off holiday notifications!

hi Folks,
my iCal keeps giving me these annoying holiday notifications, for every holiday in Canada,
even for provinces I'm not located in. This not only clutters up the calendars, but I manually
have to close all these popups when they appear on my screen.
I have turned off "holiday notifications" both in iCal pref's and in the 2 gmail accounts they
are synchronized with.
any idea why I am still getting these?

Are you using the preinstalled Email application?
I suggest that you check if the TalkBack function is activated via Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack > In the top right corner you have the ON/OFF button for this function.

How do I turn off facebook notification sounds?

Suddenly my ipad 3 is giving me sounds with my FB notifications. It is making me crazy and I can't figure out how to turn them off in the app. HELP!

Facebook Notifications - How to turn them off completely?

No matter what I do I keep getting them in my notifications tab.
I don't want to have to open each and every notification just to get rid of them. Right now it's telling me every fart and queef going on Facebook. I turned it off in Options, everything is unchecked. I also set the News Feed to NEVER update. I also logged into Facebook on a computer and set everything to off. Email notifications are also off.
Any help? I did a search and nothing shows to be successful. Please help!
I had this rekindled love for Blackberry and I am about to lose all faith over this issue.

RIM really needs to get it together. People that want notifications can't get them, people that don't want it at all get them.

Do you not want to see the Facebook notification icon on the homescreen notification bar?
Options > Device > Applications > see Facebook in the list? Press the Menu key > Delete.

First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

1520 texting and facebook notifications

I'm only getting my text messages once a day sometimes twice and my Facebook notifications I get tons of them at one time a day. Do I have something wrong in my settings or is it the phone?

Is it working fine before? Did something happen to your phone prior to this issue? Have you tried to restart the phone by pressing and holding the volume and down keys for 10-15 seconds until it vibrates? You can also try to test your phone's sending and receiving capabilities by following below steps:
1. Go to Messaging
2. New (+) > tap 123 key located at the bottom left
3. Type your own mobile phone number in the dial pad
4. Type a message
5. Tap send
If the issue still remains, try to remove the SIM card from the phone and insert it to another handset just to isolate the cause of this.
With your Facebook notifications, are you referring to the OS notifications through the people hub or the facebook application from the store? Do you wish to turn off this notification? Please inform us to provide you further assistance.

Facebook notifications on taskbar

I cannot seem to clear my facebook notifications from my taskbar once I have looked at them in facebook. The icon still stays on the taskbar, just without the astrick next to it. Please help!

you actually have to click on each individual notification in the facebook app.... then it shoudl go away

Facebook notifications no longer show up

I recently upgraded the Z10 OS, and Facebook apps. After both were done I have not been receiving notifications. When I open Facebook, it shows there are new notifications and when you tap for them to open up it then says "Cannot retrieve at this time". I then close the notifcations section in the app, it clears the icon in the app, and then I can tap it again and they come through - but only in the app.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and have also done a security wipe and restore. When I did that I received numerous notifications in my hub, but have not gotten any since I opened the facebook app again.
Never had an issue at all until the update that added support for the Q10.
Haven't tried anything else, hope someone can give me some insight into things to try, or even a way to rollback to a previous version. Thanks

If you have facebook notifications enabled in your Hub and you're not getting them, do a battery pull.

I ve got a problem with Email functioning on the phone: after having used it once, i cannot turn it off.
Constantly i m getting new message notifications, which is annoying, and permanent connection to email is not aligned with my mobile tariff.
I ve already done normally adviced in such case connectivity settings, like:
1. Packet data -> Packet data.conn - when needed
2.WLAN-> Interenet conn. - Ask first
Then i tried the trick 'Switch off- switch on' the phone
Nothing works, all remains the same with the email.
i ll be very grateful, if you can help me with this.

Is this a Nokia X3-02? I had the same problem and had to remove all my email accounts from within the email app. Then I did a firmware update via the Nokia Software Updater (NSU). Did that help you, too?

How do I turn off Facebook birthdays

How do i remove Facebook's birthday notifications?
I want to keep Facebook calendar integration, but I don't want the daily birthday notifications.
Is there a way to turn them off using Facebook, iCloud, or any other way?

In my opinion this is an "on purpose hack" by Facebook as I feel it is to tempt you to log onto Facebook to wish happy birthday, and thus expose you to adverts.
I have disabled Facebook birthdays in my calendar so many times, but it keeps getting checked again as if by magic.
I have disabled access to my calendar from Facebook, even disabled Facebook notifications in Settings, and the option in the Calendar keeps re-selecting itself.
I have now disabled all push notifications in the Facebook app under settings, lets see what happens.
If this is a hack, I hope Facebook get a huge fine for illegal privacy and hacking law breaches. Lets see if the authorities in America or the EU stand up for consumers.

Can someone please help me!? Ive been working on downloading Adobe creative suite, and everytime it tries to download Acrobat XI it says that I need to close Safari Notificati even after I have set the settings to not disturb. Anyone know how to make my life easier?

Hi, if you open go to utilities and open activity monitor you can then search the items, double click on Safari Notifications, this will cause a pop-up window to come-up. Click force quite to turn off Safari Notifications. You can now download Apps from Adobe.

I also found two lines of code that will turn on and off notifications. If you do not want screen notification to run go to Utilities > Terminal> and input code:
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist
To turn on again code:
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui.plist
Cannot take the credit for the code etc. Found it by searching.

Can't get rid of Facebook notifications from somone elses account

I upgraded my imac27 to 10.8.4. My wife logged into her facebook account through Safari on my iMac and now I cannot get rid of her facebook notifications from showing up in notification center. She is not logged in to facebook on my computer and I have gone into her account on facebook and killed all of her sessions, but they still show up, even when Safari isn't running. There seems to be other bugs in notification center as well. For instance for facebook I have the box Un-Checked for "Show in Notification Center", and it shows as "Not in Notification Center", but I still get my wife's notifications.

It's actually controlled in System Preferences - Mail/Contacts/Calendars. Locate the Facebook account there and remove it.
