Cannot turn off auto response in Mac Mail rules.

I set up a vacation auto response as a rule on Mac Mail. Now the auto response is still running but does not appear under the rules in my Mail preferences. How do I turn it off? I did not set it up under my server.

Hey Barbara Rohrer,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It might be helpful to delete and re-add your account from the Preferences menu. Please note, that if the account is setup as POP, this may remove the email messages from your computer.
For more help, see http://www.apple.com/support/mail/
Thanks,
Matt M.

You've got it open with some application, either iTunes or in a browser window. Exit out of that application.

  • Cannot turn off auto-complete

I know how to turn off auto-complete in adobe reader, but I have 1 user where the option is grayed out and I cannot change the setting. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I wish I knew the answer to that and many other questions. We are all just other iPad users like you trying to help each other sort through any problems that may arise. Frankly, I would love to be able to turn off auto correct and keep spell check on just like you. The only recourse we have right now is to offer our feedback to Apple about it and you can do that by clicking on this...

  • Cannot turn-off Auto Correction and leave Check Spelling On

For some reason, when you turn off Auto correction- (keyboard settings) it also turns off check spelling.
Hope thesre is a fix for this.

  • Cannot turn off auto correction of forward slash after character "o" (Ø)

    Hi There:
I have a strange problem with Keynote 09: Every time I type "o/" it turns into the nordic character "Ø" (o with forward slash through it). I turned automatic correction off in the preferences, but it still keeps doing it. The only way to circumvent this right now is to put a 'space' in between the o and the slash...however, with web addresses and other syntax critical items this poses a problem. Would be great if anybody had a workaround for this. Thanks!

This is normally caused by old OS 9 fonts that are incompatible with OS X. Just switching fonts should fix it but also check your fonts for those from Apple dating from the 1990's and try removing them.

  • Turn off Auto Detect Settings in IE using GPO

As a follow-up on some kind of bug in sharepoint ( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointgeneral/thread/f3dbe651-be99-491b-8c6c-fc4792ae0b22 ) I need to turn off Auto detect settings in IE on all my clients, as this speeds up sharepoint
    on many clients.
"The Internet Explorer Maintenance settings can be set in two modes: policy mode (to enable by Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy\Internet Explorer Maintenance policy processing) or preference mode(to enable by right-clicking
Internet Explorer Maintenance)." (snipped from http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverGP/thread/57d81da5-de30-4930-8649-197d204b2a6c )
Well, I have problem configuring Automatically detect settings. I have no trouble changing other parts of the same policy (changes are applied to all my computers), e.g. trusted sites and such. However I cannot turn off Auto Detect settings. I wonder if unchecking
Auto Detect Settings really means "no change"/unconfigured?
Is the only option then to use a hardcoded reg change?
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ControlPanel\Autoconfig ?

As of IE10/11, this should be set in Group Policy Preferences:  [https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn338129.aspx]
    User Configuration
       └ Preferences
          └ Control Panel Settings
             └ Internet Settings
    Create a new IE10 configuration.
Remember you can enable or disable these settings within a preference item by pressing function keys:
    F5
Enable all settings on the current tab.
    F6
    Enable the currently selected setting.
    F7
    Disable the currently selected setting.
    F8
Disable all settings on the current tab.

    # Question
I want to turn off auto updating on my Mac 10.4.11 How do I do this?
When firefox tries to upgrade (without asking) it tends to upset my Mac's usual functioning.

You can go into Edit, then Preferences, then Advanced, then update, and set your update settings there.
    Also, FYI, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-x-104-or-powerpc-pr https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-no-longer-works-mac-os-x-104-or-powerpc-pr]

Hi..is it possible to turn off library caching for a Mail client on the Mac? At work I have outlook 2007. I setup Mail client to sync Mail, contacts and calendar. The cache is stored in the library hidden folders. Is it possible to permanently turn off caching?

I am getting more and more bewildered.  I just looked at google mails settings to see if they do something different from the isp I use and there they say the following: if the sent messages aren't stored on the server, then where are they stored? What happens to them if I set my preferences this way?  I want to wail and tear my hair out. I feel so very stupid.

  • Cannot turn off find my mac

Given the risk of having it on vs. off, I have decided to turn off Find My Mac.  But when I do that it asks for my Apple ID password.  That makes sense.  But it will not accept the password.  I can sign into my Apple ID using the password, so I know it is right.  I can sign in and out of iCloud on all my other devices using this password.
Now, to add to the story, my wife has a Mac.  Same thing.  Her Apple ID password works on every other device, but she also cannot turn off FInd My Mac.
We both are running Mavericks on a Late 2013 MB Pro.  We loaded the MBs 6 months ago from TM backups.  I suppose that could be a source of the problem, a bug there.  So we are both running the same HW SW and have this same issue.
I can stop by a Genius Bar someday and get them to look at it, but anyone have a clue?

My laptop does not travel.  Someone gets into your Apple ID and you would wish you did not have it on.  the question is the probability of one vs. the other.  I plan to leave it on for my iPhone and iPad, they travel.  But getting my Mac wiped would not be cool.
But this is not a thread on the merits of Find My Mac.  It is a thread on the problem, I cannot turn it off.  Or more presicesly, I suppose the problem is my Apple ID password does not seem to work for this function only.

  • How do I turn off auto split in iPhoto ?

How do I turn off auto split in iPhoto? I have about 8,000 old photos I would like to import but it splits them in to loads of events. Would just like to leave them in year folders.

First try, if importing a sample folder with two images with different days, more than a week apart, will import them as only one event on your mac and  the autosplit is behaving the same for you as for me.
May be I will have to do it folder by folder which will take for ever.
Would it be possible for you to join some of the folders before importing?
Or join your events in iPhoto after importing. Creating yearly events is fairly simple (tested in iPhoto 9.5.1)
Create a smart album for each year (File > New ) with the smart rule "Date is in the range ...."
Then select all photos in this smart album and use the command from the "events" menu "create event". This will collect all photos in a new yearly event.
