Cannot type text in any text box Firefox will handapp

I have a laptop running windows 7 64bit. I am not able to type in any browser text boxes. I have tried safe mode in Firefox and that does not help. I have deleted the firefox profiles and completely removed firefox. I just did another install of firefox ver 25.0.1. I have now problems using the mouse, but as soon as I try to type in a field the program will freeze and I will get the error box asking if I want to close the program look for a solution and close program or wait it out. If I look at the problem details it says, A problem caused this program to stop interacting with windows.

Also in IE10 I have basically the same issues. If I do go through the system tools and load Internet Exployer with no addins I am able to go to the URL box and type in www.bing.com and hit enter and it will go to that page but once there I can not again type in any text box. Add shortly later IE just goes away like in a crash.

Some have reported that pressing F9+Windows one or more times has worked to fix issues with the keyboard not working.

I'm having a similar problem with Pages I just purchased in the App Store. I can have only one doc open at a time--otherwise, it just ignores either keystroke or cursor direction to open a new window or open an existing file. This is wasting my time! Yes; I see that I can add words to the dictionary so that firefox no longer flags them as wrong, but is there any way that Firefox will actually suggest the added words, so that if I do misspell them, they are pressented as suggestions?

Spell check not only underlines words that are not in its dictionary, but suggests words when the flagged words are right clicked. However, if words have been added to the dictionary by a user, it does not appear that spell check incorporates the new words into to the suggestions for proper spelling. As a result, if I misspell a word that I have added to the dictionary, I have to manually correct it, because the correct spelling that was added to the dictionary is not offered in the drop down list when the word is right clicked.

Right click on the indicated word, and choose, the spelling, add to dictionary,
or close the right-click context menu to allow without changing anything.
You probably have other dictionary lists on your computer of words that you've already verified and added, open that list or a copy of it in Firefox and add the ones that show up as invalid using your better judgement that you have now than in the past.

Cannot Edit Text Box

I have opened a file that I wish to edit. I cannot edit the text within one of the text boxes. The text box is not locked.
Any insight?

Any hints as to what actually happens when you try and edit it?
We try and not play 20 questions, but here goes…
1. Is the text actually in a textbox, ie is it possibly a graphic like a .tiff or .pdf?
2. Is it under something else?
3. Is it a master object? +Menu > Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects selectable+
4. Is it bigger than a breadbox?
5. Is it animal, vegetable or mineral…

I cannot link text boxes in Pages 5.0 like I could in previous versions. Solutions?

In previous versions of Pages, one could create text boxes and then link them. This was very useful for creating multi-page booklets with proper pagination, without having to use an expensive publishing software. Linking of textboxes is no longer available in Pages 5.0. Does anyone have a work-around for this problem?

Pages 5 has over 90+ missing features.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Trash or archive Pages 5 (after exporting any documents back to Pages '09 format) and review it in the App Store.

Cannot resize text boxes or shapes

I have done something, somehow and can't figure it out. When I draw a text box or a shape I am unable to resize with my marquis tool. I have to use the transform tool or the group marquis to grab individual points. I was able to before but must have hit a quick key by accident and can't figure out what I have done. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Nicole,
Try View > Show Bounding Box.
You probably mistakenly hit the shortcut key to turn it off at some point.
And just for future reference, they are Selection tools in Illustrator, not Marquis tools. Someone may be confused by your terminology and it'll help to use the proper names.

Cannot save images of any kind but firefox say its saved

I have been using Firefox since you guys started & never had a problem till now. I cannot save any images from any website no matter what the type & it is only happening on Firefox & it started when I upgrade to Ver. 20 which by the way I HATE....I prefer the older version so I loaded that back onto my computer BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. It is only happening on FIREFOX cause I downloaded these images using Internet Explorer which actually is easier now to use than your new Ver. 20.......
Anyway if I click on image & then "save as" & tell it where to download....it goes through the process & even shows up in the download window like it has downloaded....but if you click on the download window to see the image...nothing happens.....if you go to the file where you downloaded the image to, the file is NOT there??????? Now like I said this started after it updated to version 20...I now have Version 3.6.8 loaded....cause I do not want this new version 20....I am an old man, I have Windows Vista Ultimate on my desktop.....and I do not like the layout of 20 & it is very hard to do anything....anyway can you TELL ME PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS what is going on & why did this all happen & the big thing.....HOW THE HECK DO I FIX IT PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.......

Problem: xclip - cannot paste text into Firefox

1. I put text from clipboard into a file called "temporary.tmp":
xclip -o -selection clipboard > temporary.tmp
2. I do certain manipulations on the file.
3. I want to get the file back to clipboard:
xclip -i -selection clipboard < temporary.tmp
Problem: Putting the clipboard's contents into temporary.tmp works, and all the manipulations are successful. However, the "Paste" button in Firefox is grayed out. What am I doing wrong?

For Firefox forms neither "Paste" from the menu or middle click seem to work, while elsewhere it is possible to paste the text with middle click. I assume there is something wrong with my approach to the problem. I will define what I want to accomplish. Maybe someone has got a better idea. I am rather newbie-sh with Linux scripting at this point.
Goal
1. Select text # The text is in a web site form in Firefox
2. Press a keyboard shortcut
3. The text is replaced with something else
My solution, which obviously didn't quite work
1. Select text
2.1. Cut text
2.2. Press a keyboard shortcut to execute a script, which will put selection into a file &
2.3. Modify the file &
2.4. Put the modified file to clipboard < FAIL
3. Paste the text

Cannot read text on Firefox 4. It is all squares. What can I do to fix?

Downloaded Firefox 4 to my laptop running Windows 7. When the downlaod was complete, the Firefox browser launched and it was all these squares. What can I do to fix? I am not really that computer literate and this is bugging me because I prefer Mozilla over IE,

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Did you check the encoding?
*Firefox > Web Developer (or View) > Character Encoding
Make sure that UTF-16 isn't selected. Try Western (ISO-8859-1) or UTF-8 in that case.

Since getting version 22 (release update channel) I had a few days with very large text; today, Firefox will not start. How to get it running again???

I've searched for an .exe file in Firefox program files, but there doesn't seem to be one anywhere. I'd like to uninstall, download a new program and reinstall, but I'd rather not lose bookmarks and other settings.

When I type word to search in the Find box, Firefox will jump to the first grouping of letters it recognizes. I have to click back in the find box to continue typing my word. How can I make this stop?

I wanted to search for the word "medieval" on a web page. I started typing the word in the Find box. After I had typed "med", Firefox put the cursor on the word "medicate" in the web page. I have to click back in the Find box to continue typing my word. This is extremely annoying because sometimes I have to click back in the Find box after every letter.

I hadn't restarted after disabling SearchMenu. Having restarted, it would appear that the problem was, in fact, SearchMenu. Which was my suspicion. Once Find highlights a "word" SearchMenu interrupts to offer its services. I guess I'll post on their board, to see if there's a solution.

I'll have to use IE, and uninstall Firefox, if I cannot use Tomtom Home. Any idea when firefox will let me use tomtom?

Every time firefox updates, I lose features currently working ( on the previous one). I hate to delete firefox, but, I'm at my limit with it.

I don't understand the connection between [http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=53 TomTom Home] and your web browser. However, some software just assumes that IE is your default browser and cannot update itself otherwise. So you can go ahead and make IE your default if necessary. This will affect links in other other applications (email programs, Adobe Reader, MS Office) but you can use Firefox normally otherwise.
Alternately, if you prefer to reinstall Firefox 3.6, here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 4.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

Several-second delay after any click before FireFox will accept any other input.

FireFox has gotten very slow. The toolbar comes up right away, but it takes ~15 seconds before it will respond. Says, "(Not Responding) if you click ANYTHING on the screen. After that, when you finally can use it, there is a several-second delay before inputting anything via typed command or mouse-click, before FireFox allows any more input. Computer works fine otherwise, it seems to be a FireFox-specific problem. When first installed a few weeks ago, FireFox was very fast.

Please try starting Firefox in Safe Mode. Click Start Menu > Click Programs > Click Mozilla Firefox > Click Mozilla Firefox Safe Mode.

I get invitation to accept Firefox 4 but it says that it does not recognize Kaspersky and therefore I can't use it because that is my security company. Any chance that Firefox will soon accept Kaspersky?

Your general security software will still run outside of Firefox. Kaspersky has posted an article on exactly what you lose in the way of security add-ons when moving to Firefox 4:
